What is Bay Area Kids Rentals?

Bay Area Kids Rentals (it also uses the short name BAKR) is a party rental company that only does children's and family events. Its own one-line description is that it "delivers stylish, kid-sized tables, chairs, bounce houses and interactive play to families and event professionals across the Bay Area." Customers are mostly parents planning birthdays, first birthdays and baby showers, but the site also mentions school events, corporate family days and brand activations.

What sets the catalog apart is the look: bounce houses in white, nude, black and pastels rather than primary colors, dozens of named chair styles, and whole color-matched "themes" sold as starting packages. The company pitches it as a way to "skip the purchase, storage and hauling."

Who owns Bay Area Kids Rentals?

The company's site says it "was founded by Tayo and Dolu Lanlehin" and describes it as "built by parents in Oakland." The franchise page lists Tayo Lanlehin as Co-Founder & CEO and Dolu Lanlehin as Co-Founder. The home page offers a free 30-minute planning call with "our founder, Tayo," and one customer review quoted on the site mentions "the owner coming and picking it up."

A Black Enterprise article reports that the couple founded the business in 2022, starting with 48 children's chairs bought after Tayo could not find kid-sized seating for her son's first birthday. The company's site gives no founding year.

Is Bay Area Kids Rentals legit?

Here is what a customer can check before paying a deposit:

  • Named owners. The founders are named on the site, and their story has been covered in the press (see the Black Enterprise report in the sources).
  • A physical location and phone line. The contact page gives a customer pick-up location at Suite 105, 851 81st Avenue, Oakland, CA 94621, plus (510) 488-6200 and Hello@bayareakidsrentals.com. The site calls it a pick-up location and warehouse, not a showroom, so call before going.
  • Published prices and written terms. Every item shows a price per party day, and the full rental terms (payment, damage, delivery, safety and weather rules) are published on the site before you book.
  • Published reviews. The home and About pages show a 5.0 Google rating from 38 reviews, with three reviews quoted in full. The site's own Reviews page shows those same three reviews. These figures are displayed by the company; you can read the full list on Google.
  • A legal entity name. The terms and conditions name "Bay Area Kids Rentals LLC." A web search did not turn up its state filing, and we did not verify it in the California Secretary of State's records. If that matters to you (for a venue's vendor paperwork, for example), ask the company for its registration details or search the state's bizfile business search.

The product pages also say the company's setup is "insured and staffed." The site does not publish its insurance carrier or limits. If a park or venue asks for a certificate of insurance, raise it when you book (see parks and venues).

Kids tables, chairs and seating

Furniture is where the business started, and it is still the largest part of the catalog. Everything is priced per piece, per party day.

Favor displays and extrasFarrah, Bella and Luca favor shelves; Rainbow favor hanger; umbrella and base; market cart$64.99 to $105 shelves; $65 hanger; $160 umbrella; $180 market cart

The chair page includes a pairing guide (Ghost chairs with the Ghost table, Rattan with Rattan, Dahlia with Dahlia, Kaia with Kaia, and so on). The company's FAQ says its kids tables seat six to eight children and stand about 20 to 24 inches tall, and its chairs suit roughly ages 1 to 8. A celebrant chair is a special seat for the birthday child at cake time.

Bounce houses

The site lists 14 bounce houses in four styles. Prices are per party day and include setup by the crew; delivery is added at checkout.

Bounce houseColorsPriceCompany's guidance
White Mini ComboWhite$300For ages 1 to 3 (elsewhere 1 to 5) and smaller yards or courtyards
CastlePastel pink, pastel purple, pastel blue, mint, yellow, peach, nude, black, white$400Its most popular size; ages about 2 to 8; needs about 15 x 15 ft plus 3 ft of clearance
Kingdom Combo (bounce area plus slide)White, white with roof, pink$650For 10 or more kids; setup area 17 x 15 ft and 14 ft high; one outlet
Villa Combo Race CarRace car design$800For vehicle themes

The company says setup takes about 15 to 20 minutes: the crew inflates the unit and secures it with stakes on grass or sandbags on concrete, with a ground tarp underneath. The price covers the unit, blower, anchoring, setup and takedown. Its bounce house cost page explains why its prices are higher than many listings: the units are designer colors chosen to match a styled party, and delivery, setup and pickup are handled by its own crew.

On indoor use, the pages differ. The bounce house category page says indoor setups can work in gyms, halls and large garages with at least 12 feet of ceiling for a Castle, while the indoor party guide says the bounce houses "are designed for outdoor use" and asks you to talk to the company before booking one indoors. Treat indoor bounce houses as something to confirm, not assume.

Soft play, ball pits and merry-go-rounds

Soft play is foam play equipment (climbers, tunnels, slides, rockers, blocks and ball pits) for babies and toddlers. It needs no electricity, so it works indoors, in parks that ban inflatables, and on patios. Safety mats come free with ball pits, in colors including pink, white, nude, black, grey, blue, cream, purple, green grass and a wooden-floor pattern; a soft play fence is also listed at no charge.

ItemPublished price
Deluxe Soft Play Packages (pink, black, blue, pastel, nude and pink, nude and white)$550
Grand Soft Play Packages$700 (blue, pastel) or $800 (pink, black, nude and pink, nude and white)
Small Ball Pit (circle or square; white, nude, black)$300
Midi Square Ball Pit$400
Star Medium Ball Pit (purple)$500
Poppy Medium Ball Pit (pink, yellow); Large Ball Pit Circle$700
Large or Medium Ball Pit Square$800
Grande Ball Pit$1,100 (circle) or $1,200 (square)
Super Ball Pit / Ultimate Ball Pit Square$3,000 / $5,000
Slides$50 (mini) to $150 (tunnel slide); $100 Midi Single Slide
Climber tunnels and double tunnels$150 to $200
Balancing sets$200 to $400
Rockers, foam cars, foam blocks, animal hoppers$30 to $45 each
Merry-go-rounds$550 (Electric Merry Go Around Rocker), $800 (Double Tea Cup), $1,500 (Merry Go Round Swing)

For a one-year-old, the company suggests a small ball pit, a few soft play pieces, a celebrant chair and a kids table, and says a bounce house is "too much" for most children that age. Product pages say each item is "sanitized and inspected after each event."

Bumper cars, bubble house and arcade games

Bumper cars ($550 per party day). These are inflatable-ring, kid-sized electric bumper cars. The product page lists a 15 x 15 ft setup area and an age group of 2 to 6, and the rental terms also say bumper cars are for ages 2 to 6. Other pages describe them for ages 3 to 10 or 3 to 12 and suggest about 20 x 20 ft of flat ground. Because the pages disagree, check the age range and space with the company for your guest list. The category page says the standard rental "includes multiple cars"; ask how many.

Bubble house ($700 per party day). A clear inflatable dome. The product page lists an actual size of 15 x 8.5 x 8.5 ft and a setup area of 17 ft long, 9 ft high and 11 ft wide. The baby shower page says it comes filled with up to 200 balloons in up to three colors, with an attendant and up to four hours of use, and that a portable air conditioner can be added on a warm day. It needs a standard outlet within 50 feet for the blower and should not be used in rain or strong wind. One older section of the site quotes $650 with delivery included; the bookable price was $700 plus delivery when we checked.

Arcade games. A Small Claw Machine ($150) and an Arcade Claw Machine ($800), which the company says comes stocked with prizes.

Hosted workshops

Workshops are activity stations that arrive with the table, chairs, supplies and an attendant who runs the activity. The company says most run for about an hour and a half, and each child takes home what they made as the party favor. You add your theme and any short text in the checkout comments so the pieces can be prepared to match.

The company's suggestions: painting, hat and sunglasses stations for four- to seven-year-olds; the plushie workshop for bigger birthdays; the patch station, embroidery and scent bar for tweens, teens, corporate family days and brand events. The workshops category page also describes tie-dye, slime making, face painting, balloon twisting and costumed character visits with "from" prices; those are not in the bookable catalog, so ask before planning around them.

Party themes and the Party Builder

Bay Area Kids Rentals sells 18 party themes as color-matched starting packages. You pick a theme, the site loads a sample package (bounce house, ball pit or activity, tables and chairs), and you can swap any piece. You pay only for what you keep. The sample package prices published when we checked:

SeasonThemes and sample package prices
FallHunny's Bee-Day Bash (ages 1 to 8) from $2,585; Woodland Fairies (2 to 8) from $1,334.99; The Wild West Pumpkin Patch (2 to 10) from $1,070; S'more Years To Go (2 to 10) from $1,035
HalloweenBeetlejuice (3 to 12) from $1,545; Wicked (3 to 12) from $770; Glam Coven (3 to 12) from $1,594

A worked example from the site. The Jurassic Dinosaur Safari sample for 12 kids is a White Castle bounce house ($400), a black Small Ball Pit ($300, styled as a "tar pit"), an Arcade Claw Machine ($800), two Kids Farm Tables ($250) and 12 Wooden Cross Back Chairs ($120): $1,870 before tax and delivery. The theme page also suggests themed workshops (fossil dig, dino egg painting, dinosaur tails), with workshops starting at $400.

The Party Builder asks for the number of kids, the birthday child's age, an optional budget ($750, $1,500, $3,000 or $5,000) and an optional theme, then proposes a package with a running total. It shows an estimated sales tax line at 10.25%. Nothing is reserved until you check out.

Free planning call. If you'd rather talk it through, the home page offers a free 30-minute party planning call with Tayo, with "no obligation, no sales pitch," covering theme, layout, age-appropriate picks and what fits your space and budget.

How much does Bay Area Kids Rentals cost?

Every item has a published price per party day. These are the figures we saw on 19 October 2026:

What you rentPublished price
Kids chairs$10 to $35 each
Kids tables$30 to $250 each
Bounce houses$300 to $800
Soft play packages$550 to $800
Ball pits$300 to $5,000
Bumper cars$550
Bubble house$700
Merry-go-rounds$550 to $1,500
Workshops$400 to $2,650
Delivery, setup and pickup$80 within 20 miles of the Oakland warehouse, then by the mile (see below)
Optional damage waiver7% of the rental total
Minimum order$80

Sample budgets from the company's own cost guide (rentals plus the $80 delivery, before tax):

  • Budget backyard, about $580: White Mini Combo bounce house, one Poppy table, eight Kiki chairs.
  • Toddler soft play, about $1,020: small ball pit, climber tunnel, balancing set, three animal hoppers.
  • Mid-range birthday, about $1,430: Kingdom Combo bounce house, two Poppy tables, 16 Kiki chairs.
  • Premium party, about $3,000: bumper cars, claw machine, sunglasses station, two Dahlia tables.

Ways to spend less, per the company: choose one centerpiece and style the tables rather than two big attractions; for under-threes, choose soft play and a small ball pit instead of a bounce house; pick up from the Oakland warehouse yourself to skip delivery; and book a weekday or Sunday afternoon if your date is flexible. The FAQ says combo packages exist and that large events can call for a custom quote.

Paying. Payment is taken online through the booking system. Sales tax and any site fees are calculated at checkout. The site does not list financing.

Delivery, service area and pick-up

Where it delivers. The footer lists 78 cities, from San Francisco and the Peninsula (Daly City to Half Moon Bay, Woodside and Palo Alto) through the South Bay (Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Cupertino, San Jose, Milpitas), the East Bay (Oakland, Berkeley, Fremont, Hayward, Dublin, Pleasanton, Danville, Walnut Creek, Concord and many more) and into Marin and Solano (Sausalito to Novato, Vallejo, Benicia, American Canyon). The FAQ describes the core area as the East Bay, South Bay, Peninsula and San Francisco, with North Bay delivery at mileage rates.

What delivery costs. The current FAQ and cost guides say a flat $80 covers addresses within 20 miles of the Oakland warehouse, then $4 a mile, and $8 a mile beyond 50 miles (one FAQ answer says $7). The fee covers the round trip, setup and collection, and your exact fee is quoted to your address at checkout. The home page has an instant delivery estimate tool.

Timing. The company sends a delivery confirmation a week before the event and calls or texts when the crew is on the way. The crew waits 10 minutes for someone to receive the delivery, so have an adult there. The cost guides say same-day pickup is standard and next-day pickup is free. Tell the company about stairs, elevators or tricky entrances when you book.

Note on the written terms. The published Terms and Conditions describe an older delivery schedule: Saturday drop-off and Sunday pickup, $0.75 per mile per journey, and an extra $80 for same-day drop-off and pickup or for days outside that schedule. These conflict with the newer delivery pages. The rental agreement you sign at checkout is what applies, so read it, and ask the company which delivery terms cover your booking.

Picking up yourself. The company says customer pick-up from its Oakland location is free. The terms add the requirements: a refundable damage deposit, your driver's license, a large vehicle (SUV, van or truck), and your own wrapping (bring moving blankets). The terms say customer pick-up is on Friday with return on Sunday, and that a charge applies for each day a return is late.

How booking works, step by step

  1. Pick your date. Each product page has a live calendar. The company says that if an item shows as available, you can reserve it, first come, first served.
  2. Choose your rentals. Add pieces one by one, start from a theme, or use the Party Builder. Add your theme and notes in the checkout comments.
  3. Add your address. Delivery, setup and pickup are priced for your location at checkout.
  4. Sign and reserve. Sign the rental agreement and pay a 50% deposit online to lock in the date.
  5. Pay the balance. The other 50% is due one week before the event. Inside a week, you pay in full when you book.
  6. Party day. The crew delivers and sets up, then returns to pack everything away.

The company suggests booking two to three weeks ahead for weekends, especially April through October.

Deposits, cancellations, weather and damage

  • Payments are non-refundable. Both the 50% deposit and the 50% balance are described as non-refundable.
  • Cancelling. If you cancel, your payment becomes an in-house credit for a future rental, not a refund.
  • Rescheduling. With 24 hours' notice before the event, payment moves to the new date, subject to availability. Product pages call this "free date changes with 24-hour notice."
  • Weather. No cancellation fee if you tell the company before the crew leaves the warehouse. Your full payment is kept as a rain check credit for up to one year, and you can pick a new date at no extra cost if the items are free. Once the crew has arrived and set up, full payment is due regardless of use.
  • Damage waiver. Optional, at 7% of the rental value (not counting delivery, fees or consumables). It covers unintentional nicks and scratches, not intentional or major damage, and items must still be returned.
  • Damage deposit. The terms list a $200 refundable damage deposit for bounce houses and bumper cars and $100 for customer pick-up ("will call") rentals. The deposit is security only; it does not cap what you owe for damage.
  • Damage and cleaning. The renter pays for damage beyond reasonable wear and tear, a reasonable cleaning charge for dirty returns, and replacement cost for items damaged beyond repair. Silly string and similar items in a bounce house can trigger full replacement value or a $75 cleaning fee.
  • Insurance and liability. The terms say liability, health and medical insurance related to the rental is the client's responsibility, and include hold-harmless and indemnity clauses. Read them before signing.
  • Photos. The company reserves the right to use photos of your event for display, social media and advertising.

This is a summary, not legal advice. The signed rental agreement is what governs your booking.

Space, power and safety rules

Space. The company asks you to send a photo of your space to Hello@bayareakidsrentals.com so it can confirm what fits. Its published guides: about 15 x 15 ft plus 3 ft of clearance for a Castle bounce house, a 17 x 15 ft setup area for the Kingdom Combo, 15 x 15 ft (product page) or about 20 x 20 ft (other pages) for bumper cars, and 17 x 11 ft for the bubble house. Ground should be flat grass or a hard surface, never rocks, brick or glass.

Power. For inflatables, the terms ask for one 115-volt, 20-amp outlet per blower within 50 feet, on a circuit used for nothing else, and say no extension cords. Service calls caused by electrical problems cost $20. Soft play and ball pits need no power.

Play rules from the terms. An adult who has read the rules must supervise at all times. No shoes in the play area (adults included); no food, drinks, face paint, glitter, slime or confetti in the bounce house or bumper car area; no diving or throwing balls out of the ball pit. The terms list ages 1 to 10 for bounce houses and 2 to 6 for bumper cars, and say never to use an inflatable in high wind or storms or to move a unit the crew has anchored.

Parties in parks and indoors

The company publishes a city-by-city guide to Bay Area park rules for bounce houses, checked in October 2026 against each city's documents. Its summary: bounce houses are usually tied to a paid picnic reservation, often only at certain sites; some parks set size or power limits; and several cities want a business license or a certificate of insurance from the rental company two to three weeks ahead. Examples: San Francisco allows one jump house per picnic up to 25 x 25 ft (each extra one $100 plus a $250 deposit); Berkeley allows them only at set sites with city-approved vendors; Walnut Creek does not allow them in city parks. Always confirm with the parks department. For a park party, send the company the park, picnic area, reservation time and any vendor forms, and allow time for setup inside your reserved slot.

The franchise program

Bay Area Kids Rentals also sells franchises for a home-based version of the business ("a van, a garage and a great eye," no storefront). The franchise page publishes these figures, which it says come from its franchise listing, updated July 2025:

ItemPublished figure
Franchise fee$35,000
Total initial investment$119,000 to $169,000
Royalty5.5%
Liquid capital required$100,000

Territories available13

The page notes that it is not an offer to sell a franchise and that offers are made only after delivery of a Franchise Disclosure Document. This guide is not financial or legal advice; anyone considering a franchise should read the disclosure document with a franchise attorney and accountant.

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

A good fit if you…

  • Are planning a birthday, first birthday or baby shower in the Bay Area and want the rentals to match a color scheme or theme
  • Want one company to deliver, set up and pick up the play, the seating and an activity
  • Have toddlers coming and want soft play or ball pits rather than (or as well as) a bounce house
  • Like seeing every price and booking online without waiting for a quote
  • Are an event planner or business looking for kid-sized furniture and hosted workshops

Look elsewhere if you…

  • Want the lowest possible price for a basic bounce house
  • Need a refundable booking: payments convert to credit, not cash, if you cancel
  • Need adult-scale event rentals such as tents, staging or full catering equipment
  • Are outside the Bay Area, or far enough out that per-mile delivery outweighs the rental
  • Want a party at a venue that provides everything, rather than at home or a park

Questions to ask before you book

  1. Which delivery terms apply to my booking: the flat $80 within 20 miles, or the per-mile and weekend schedule in the written terms?
  2. Will my date allow same-day pickup, or next-day pickup at no charge?
  3. What age range and space do you recommend for the bumper cars with my guest list, and how many cars come with one rental?
  4. Does my yard, hall or park fit the bounce house I want, and is there a suitable outlet within 50 feet?
  5. If my park needs a certificate of insurance or business license from the vendor, can you provide it, and how far ahead?
  6. Is a damage deposit required for my items, and when is it returned?

How to get started

  1. Browse the full rental catalog or the party themes.
  2. Try the Party Builder with your guest count, the child's age and a budget.
  3. Check your date on any product page and read the terms and conditions.
  4. Not sure? Book the free 30-minute planning call from the home page, call or text (510) 488-6200, or email Hello@bayareakidsrentals.com with a photo of your space.
