What is FloodGate Medical?

FloodGate Medical is a third-party recruiting firm that works only in medical technology. Employers (medical device makers and other MedTech companies) hire it to find people for open jobs, and job seekers come to it to find those jobs. Its slogan is "Recruiting Done Differently," and its stated mission is "to improve lives by uniting great people with great companies."

The About page says the firm serves "medical manufacturers exclusively" and describes its role as a hub between three groups: employers, candidates and recruiters. It is headquartered in Tampa, Florida and says it has "a broad national presence," with team members working from several states.

In a July 2026 press release marking its 25th anniversary, the company described itself as having "grown from a specialized recruiting firm into a comprehensive talent advisory partner." It listed its current work as executive and commercial search, organizational design, compensation benchmarking, talent development, market intelligence and strategic workforce consulting.

A short history, as the company tells it:

  • 2001: the company says it was founded, and that this is when its team "launched its mission to serve the medical products community."
  • August 2023: a press release on the site announces a merger with another MedTech recruiting firm, Finnesse Partners. The combined business operates under the FloodGate Medical name, headquartered in Tampa, and the release listed satellite offices in Minneapolis, San Diego, Sacramento, Raleigh and Tulsa. A merger page says the combined firm covers MedTech and pharmaceutical recruiting.
  • December 2025: the company announced it had been named "MedTech Recruitment Company of the Year 2025 USA" in the Global Health and Pharma (GHP) Global Excellence Awards.
  • July 2026: it marked 25 years in business at a quarterly team meeting.

Who owns and runs FloodGate Medical?

The site names Josh Heuchan as Founder and CEO, based at the Tampa headquarters. The About page says the founder and team reinvented the recruiting process "after 20 years in the medical recruiting space," and that the firm's principals have "a collective 60+ years of experience as medical employers and medical recruiters alike."

The About page lists 21 team members when we checked. The leadership names and titles shown are:

  • Josh Heuchan, Founder, CEO (Tampa)
  • Chris Leuzze, Director of Operations (Tampa)
  • Sarah Creegan, Director of Marketing (Orlando)
  • Katherine Bush, Director of HR Practice (Georgia)
  • Heidi Herrick, Executive Talent Director (San Diego)

The recruiting team is split into Senior Talent Directors, Talent Directors and Talent Advisors, plus operations, marketing and administrative staff. Most are listed at the Tampa headquarters; others are listed in North Carolina and Oklahoma. Several have their own video bios or landing pages. One example: Scott Mattingly, a Talent Advisor, has a page saying he spent more than 20 years as a U.S. Army Aviation Officer and now focuses on neurology and neurotechnology companies.

The 2023 merger release quoted Joe McClung as President of FloodGate Medical. He does not appear on the current About page, so ask the company who holds that role today if it matters to you.

Is FloodGate Medical legit?

People ask this about any recruiter that contacts them. Here is what can be checked on the company's own site and in what it publishes:

  • A long, dated history. The company gives a founding year (2001) and has dated press releases on its blog going back several years, including the 2023 merger and the 2026 anniversary.
  • Named people. The About page names 21 staff with titles, locations and individual email and LinkedIn links, and the founder is named in its press releases.
  • Real, specific job listings. Job pages show a city, a compensation figure and an update date. For example, a Territory Manager listing in Sacramento showed "Comp: $133k-148k" and was updated 8 October 2026. Listings describe the hiring company without naming it, which is common practice for recruiters.
  • An award with a checkable source. The GHP award announcement links to the publisher's Q4 2025 magazine feature. The award was given by a trade publication, not a regulator.
  • Industry affiliations. The site shows logos for BioFlorida and Medical Alley (life-science industry groups), a "Best Places to Work" badge and a "LinkedIn Most Socially Engaged" badge. We did not verify these with the issuers.
  • Named testimonials. The employer page shows quotes from named company leaders (a president, a CEO, a VP of Marketing, a VP of Surgical Sales), and candidate pages show quotes from named people who were placed. These are chosen and published by the company itself.

Two practical safety points. FloodGate's own blog advises candidates to ask every recruiter whether it has the exclusive on a job, whether it talks directly to the hiring manager, why the job is open and how far interviews have gone. And a legitimate agency recruiter is normally paid by the employer, so be careful with anyone who asks a job seeker to pay to be submitted for a role. FloodGate's paid services for job seekers are optional resume and LinkedIn rewrites, sold separately from its job search.

We could not check a Florida business registration for this guide: the state's records site blocked our automated lookup. You can search the name yourself on the Florida Division of Corporations site (Sunbiz).

What services does FloodGate Medical offer employers?

The Services page names two core services, and the employer page adds several more:

ServiceWhat the company says it includes
Permanent placementFinding people for long-term roles. A "consultative approach," a "data-driven search process" that targets active and passive candidates, screening, behavioral assessments and "customized candidate scorecards."
Contract staffingTemporary or project-based MedTech professionals for short-term projects, product launches, territory expansions or interim leadership, with "compliance and payroll management services" for onboarding.
Fractional talentListed on the employer page and in the 2025 award release alongside full-time hiring. Details are not published.
Consulting"From hiring manager training to strategic goal-setting and benchmarking." The 2026 release also lists organizational design, compensation benchmarking and market intelligence.
Talent acquisition trainingA free program for hiring managers called Talent Excellence Education (see below).
Expansion hiringHelp when a company needs 5 to 70 or more new hires in about three months. The company says it has run "over 40 expansions in the last 10 years across 8 MedTech verticals," for companies "ranging from pre-revenue to $1B+."
Employer brandingLanding pages for a client's open roles, Leadership Live video interviews, "Buzz Report" features and other marketing to the candidate audience.
Career transitionsCareer transition support for people leaving a company, offered to employers with staff "in that boat."

The employer page also says the team "has been certified and trained in Hiring For Attitude," a hiring method from Mark Murphy and Leadership IQ, and uses it to judge whether a candidate's attitude fits the client's culture.

What kinds of roles does FloodGate Medical fill?

The employer page lists its capabilities as: Executive, Regulatory, Quality, Sales, Marketing, National Accounts, Market Access, Clinical, Research and Development, Contract Staffing and Fractional Talent. The Join Our Team page sums it up as recruiting for "sales, clinical, marketing and executive positions."

In practice, the job board is weighted toward sales. When we checked, its category filter showed these counts:

Job categoryListings shown
Sales Representative72
Clinical / Nursing9
National Sales Manager / Director of Sales / Regional VP of Sales8
Other6
Associate Sales Representative5
Corporate, National or Major Accounts3
Marketing3
Regional or District Sales Manager3
Quality Assurance2
Inside Sales1

Job titles in the listings include Territory Manager, Clinical Account Manager, Strategic Account Manager, Area Sales Manager, Medical Science Liaison, Market Development Manager, National Account Director and VP of Commercial Growth and Market Access. Some talent advisors focus on a specialty: one page covers neurology and neurotechnology companies, and the merger page adds pharmaceutical and biotech recruiting.

The employer inquiry form offers job functions of Sales, Marketing, Telehealth and Leadership, and levels from Entry and Sales Representative up to Manager, Director/VP and Leadership.

How hiring through FloodGate works, step by step

The site does not publish a formal contract or timeline, but its pages describe the process like this:

  1. Get in touch. Fill in the employer inquiry form (job function, the position, level, ZIP code, your contact details) or use "Schedule a Call" on the employer page.
  2. Define the role. A client testimonial describes FloodGate's "up-front approach to helping better define both the hard and soft skills required for a position." The company says it learns the client's culture and builds a candidate profile.
  3. Search the network. The firm says it taps a network of over 150,000 MedTech professionals and that most of the people it places are passive candidates, meaning they were not actively job hunting (it gives 81% on the employer page).
  4. Screen and assess. Candidates are screened and assessed, including behavioral assessments, "Hiring for Attitude" methods and scorecards.
  5. Present candidates and interview. The firm presents a shortlist and coaches candidates through interviews. Candidate testimonials describe prep before each round and check-ins after.
  6. Close and follow up. FloodGate's "Closing" materials help candidates with the offer stage. One candidate testimonial says the recruiter checked in "a few weeks into me starting my new job."

The company sums up the split of work as: "We attract the best. You select the best. We handle the rest." It also says it acts "as an extension of your Talent Acquisition and HR teams," not a replacement for them.

The free 20-candidate shortlist offer

A landing page for employers offers "a list of 20 qualified candidates for your open medtech role, in 2 days, for free." The terms as published:

  • Three steps. A required 30-minute strategy call about the role, then a list of 20 candidates "complete with contact information," then an optional walkthrough of why each person made the list.
  • Timing. Delivery "within 2 business days" after the strategy call. The company says it will tell you up front if a narrow role needs more time.
  • No commitment. "There's no obligation to hire through FloodGate," and "No cost. No retainer required."
  • Limits. The page says it takes three companies a month and reviews each application itself. It is for MedTech or life sciences companies with a US-based, budgeted role open now or soon, and for someone who can approve the hire.
  • Reply time. It promises a response "within one business day."

It is a trial offer, so availability depends on the month. Apply through the page to see if your role qualifies.

How much does FloodGate Medical cost?

For employers, the recruiting fee is not published. The site does not say whether it charges a contingency fee (paid only when a hire is made), a retained fee (paid up front for a search) or a percentage of salary. One of the company's own blog posts explains that third-party recruiters may work on a contingency, retained or recruitment-process-outsourcing basis, but it does not say which model FloodGate uses. Ask for its fee terms and replacement guarantee in writing before you sign.

Things that usually affect what a recruiter charges include the role's salary, how senior and specialized it is, how many hires you need, and whether the search is exclusive. FloodGate's employer page makes the case for the cost by pointing to the price of getting it wrong: it says "the cost of a bad hire could cost you $250,000," and it offers a free Vacant Territory Calculator to estimate what an open sales territory costs you.

These are the prices that are published, checked on 19 October 2026:

A testimonial on the career coaching page mentions a paid four-week job search "BootCamp," but the site does not publish a current price or schedule for it. Ask the company if you are interested.

What FloodGate Medical offers job seekers

For candidates, the company groups its help under the name FloodGate Futures, which it describes as career coaching and "candidate resources for job seekers." It includes:

  • Open roles. A searchable job board with new roles "all across the country," from entry level to management.
  • A recruiter. When you match a role, a talent advisor works with you through the process. Candidate testimonials describe interview prep, help presenting your work history, and regular check-ins.
  • A candidate resource center with videos, articles and downloads organized by four stages: Exploring, Engaging, Interviewing and Closing.
  • Personal branding. Paid resume and LinkedIn rewrites. The personal branding page names Mark Bartz, described as a "Career Navigator" with over 25 years of experience in pharma, biotech and medical sales resumes.
  • Improving.LIVE, a series of recorded talks for candidates on topics such as resumes, personal branding and breaking into MedTech.
  • A referral program, FloodGate Finder, which pays up to $2,500 if someone you refer is hired.

The FloodGate Futures page describes the job search in four phases: preparing, executing a networking plan, interview preparation, and "closing the deal and transitioning."

How to find and apply for jobs

  1. Go to the Career Opportunities page.
  2. Search by keyword, by two-letter state code in the Location box, by region (ten US regions, for example "Southeast (FL, GA, SC)"), or by category, including a "No Experience" category.
  3. Open a listing to see the city, position type, compensation, update date and a description of the (unnamed) hiring company and the ideal candidate.
  4. Click "Explore or refer" on the listing to express interest or refer someone.
  5. If nothing fits, use "Submit Resume" to join the network. The company says it will ask "a few 'get to know you' questions" so it can consider you for future roles.

Field sales listings name a city and state. In device sales that usually means you live in and cover a territory rather than work from an office, so check the territory on any listing you like.

Breaking into MedTech, and help for veterans

The site has a Breaking Into MedTech section for people with no MedTech experience: recent graduates, people from healthcare or general sales, and career changers. It is organized into five topics: understanding MedTech, building your foundation, getting in the door, interview prep, and your first 90 days. A separate job page lists "no experience necessary" opportunities.

FloodGate Futures for Veterans is aimed at people leaving the military. The company says its goal "over the next few years is to improve the lives of 1,000 military veterans." The page offers a call with a named team member and a free Career Transition Guide covering pre-search strategy, self-branding, networking, working with recruiters, evaluating offers, interviewing through offer negotiation, and leaving your current employer.

  • Monthly newsletter. Industry insights, new jobs and job search tools.

The numbers the company publishes

FloodGate shows a set of performance figures on its pages. These are the company's own, unaudited numbers:

FigureWhat the site says
Placements450+ candidates placed per year
Passive candidates81% of candidates hired were passive (not job hunting)
Retention ("stick rate")89.3% still employed at the client after 12 months
Candidate database147,000 MedTech candidates (other pages say over 150,000)
Average pay of open rolesAbout $191.4K average compensation of current open positions
Hiring managers servedAbout 260 hiring managers rely on it for sales and leadership roles
ExpansionsOver 40 expansion projects in the last 10 years
ReachSays it reaches "over 4 million people every year" through trade shows and marketing

Some figures differ from page to page. Years of experience appear as "20+," "25+" and "30+" (the 2026 press release gives the founding year as 2001), and the candidate network is given as 140,000, 147,000, 150,000 and 200,000 on different pages. Treat them as approximate and ask for current numbers if they matter to your decision.

Where is FloodGate Medical, and how do you contact it?

The company is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. It does not publish a street address or office hours. Team members are listed in Tampa, Orlando, San Diego, Georgia, North Carolina and Oklahoma, and the firm recruits for jobs nationwide. Most of its work happens by phone, video and email, so you do not need to visit an office.

There is no main phone number on the site. Contact options are:

  • Employers: the employer inquiry form, or "Schedule a Call" on the employer page.
  • Job seekers: the job board's "Submit Resume" link, or the general contact form.
  • Recruiters interested in partnering: the recruiter inquiry form.
  • General questions: the contact form, with subjects for services, recruiting partnerships, jobs at FloodGate and general comments.
  • Individual staff: each person on the About page has an email and LinkedIn link.
  • Media: the 2026 press release lists Sarah Creegan, Director of Marketing, at sarah@floodgatemedical.com or 585-409-3531.

The company is also on Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube.

Guarantees and policies

  • Satisfaction guarantee. The refund policy page says: "If you're not 100% satisfied with your FloodGate experience, please contact us and let us know. We will do our absolute best to make the situation right or will refund the amount paid." Refunds must be requested within 90 days of payment. This reads as covering things you pay for on the site, such as branding services.
  • Placement guarantees for employers. Not published. The candidates page shows a counter labeled "Our Candidates who are fully guaranteed" (100%) without explaining the terms. Ask for the replacement or refund terms that apply to your search in writing.
  • Privacy. The privacy policy says personal information is stored on servers in the United States and protected with tools such as encryption and passwords, while noting it cannot guarantee security of data sent over the internet.
  • Free shortlist terms. FloodGate "reserves the right to decline applications that don't fit our search criteria," and no purchase is required to receive the list.

Values and the FloodGate Foundation

The company states five core values: Innovation Advances, Truth Endures, Christian Integrity Impacts, Every Person Matters, and Serving is Winning. Its vision is "to dazzle every candidate, every client, every time." These appear on its careers page and in its press releases, so candidates and clients can see the faith-based framing up front.

Through the FloodGate Foundation, the company says it gives a share of revenue to charity (the 2025 release says 2 percent of annual revenue) and volunteers as a team every month. The foundation page invites people in the Tampa area to join volunteer outings and lists local causes you can donate to, including Feeding Tampa Bay, Metropolitan Ministries, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Glazer Children's Museum, Quantum Leap Farm and the BRAVE Coalition Foundation. You can also suggest a cause.

FloodGate also hires for itself. When we checked, it listed a Talent Advisor opening in Tampa requiring 2+ years in sales, a bachelor's degree and residence in the Tampa Bay area, with recruiting experience preferred but not required.

How it compares with other ways to hire

OptionWhat you getTypical trade-off
A MedTech-only recruiting firm like FloodGateRecruiters who know device sales and clinical roles, an existing candidate network, passive-candidate outreach, screening and interview coachingA recruiting fee (not published here); you depend on the firm's network and process
A large general staffing agencyWide reach across industries, often fast for volume or temporary rolesLess specialist knowledge of device sales territories and clinical selling
A retained executive search firmA dedicated, exclusive search for senior leadersUsually paid in stages up front, whether or not you hire; slower and costlier for field roles
Your in-house talent teamFull control, no agency fee, knows your cultureLimited time; harder to reach passive candidates in a niche
Job boards and LinkedIn postingLow cost, broad visibilityMostly active job seekers; you do all the screening
Employee referralsTrusted introductions, often good retentionSmall pool; depends on your team's networks

For job seekers, the main alternative is applying to companies directly. A specialist recruiter can bring you roles that are not advertised and coach you through interviews, but it can only put you forward for jobs its clients have given it.

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

A good fit if you…

  • Are a medical device or MedTech company hiring sales, clinical, marketing, market access or leadership staff in the US
  • Need to fill several territories at once, or staff a product launch or expansion
  • Want access to passive candidates who are not answering job ads
  • Want contract or interim help as well as permanent hires
  • Are a job seeker in device or MedTech sales, or trying to break in, and want interview coaching
  • Are a military veteran looking at a move into medical sales

Look elsewhere if you…

  • Are not in MedTech or life sciences: the firm says it serves medical manufacturers exclusively
  • Are hiring for roles outside the US (the free shortlist excludes them)
  • Need published, fixed recruiting prices before your first call
  • Want a walk-in office or a main phone line
  • Are looking for hospital nursing shifts or non-MedTech healthcare jobs

Questions to ask before you sign or apply

If you are hiring:

  1. Is your fee contingent or retained, and how is it calculated?
  2. What replacement or refund guarantee applies if a hire leaves early, and for how long?
  3. Will the search be exclusive, and who will be my day-to-day recruiter?
  4. How many similar roles have you filled in my product area in the past year?
  5. For contract staff, who is the employer of record and who handles payroll and compliance?

If you are a candidate (the company's own blog suggests the first four):

  1. Do you have the exclusive on this job?
  2. Do you talk directly with the hiring manager?
  3. Why is the position open?
  4. How far along is the interview process?
  5. Will you tell me the company's name before you submit my resume?

How to get started

  1. Employers: fill in the employer inquiry form, or check whether your role qualifies for the free 20-candidate shortlist.
  2. Job seekers: search the open roles or submit your resume to join the network.
  3. New to MedTech: start with Breaking Into MedTech and the free career transition guide.
  4. Checking pay: download the 2026 MedTech Compensation Guide.
