What is FrankZane.com?

FrankZane.com calls itself the "3X Mr. Olympia Official Site and Store." It is two things at once. First, it is an online shop for the material Frank Zane has produced over a long career: training books, eBooks, a quarterly newsletter archive, posing guides, a training DVD, signed photographs and a small range of supplements. Second, it is how people book personal coaching time with Frank himself, by video call or audio.

The home page describes the idea behind the shop this way: Frank "won the Olympia three years running on proportion, symmetry and precision rather than sheer size," and "the training, the writing and the supplements that built it are all still here." The site also has a long biography, a blog with more than 140 posts on training, nutrition, mindset and Frank's competition years, a press page listing interviews and podcasts, a gallery and a fan page.

There is no physical store or gym open to walk-in visitors listed on the site. Everything is ordered online, digital products are delivered by email, physical products ship from California, and coaching happens over Zoom, FaceTime, Skype or audio.

Who is Frank Zane, and who runs the site?

The site is built around Frank Zane personally. According to his biography on the site, he grew up in a Pennsylvania coal-mining town, started training at 14 after finding a muscle magazine in a classroom wastebasket, and earned a BS in secondary education from Wilkes College in 1964. He taught math in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida and Los Angeles while competing.

The site's record of his titles lists:

  • 1968: Mr. America
  • 1968: Mr. Universe in Miami, where the site says he defeated Arnold Schwarzenegger
  • 1969: Mr. World, Brugge, Belgium
  • 1970 and 1972: Mr. Universe, London
  • 1977, 1978 and 1979: Mr. Olympia, the professional world title

The biography also says Frank earned a second bachelor's degree, in psychology, from California State University, Los Angeles in 1977, a California Life Teaching Credential, and a master's degree in experimental psychology from California State University, San Bernardino. It says he holds a US patent for an exercise device he invented called the Leg Blaster.

Christine Zane, Frank's wife, appears throughout the site. The biography says she won the Miss Universe Bikini title in 1970, earned a master's in fine arts and later a master's in clinical psychology, and taught in Santa Monica schools. In the store she is credited as co-author of several titles (for example Super Bodies in 12 Weeks, Zane Nutrition and The Zane Way to a Beautiful Body), author of three "Feminine" eBooks, and photographer of several of the signed prints.

The business side: the site's terms and conditions say "This website is operated by Zananda Inc." with a mailing address of P.O. Box 1964, La Mesa, CA 91944. The biography says the Zanes ran a bodybuilding learning center called Zane Haven in Palm Springs from 1980, moved to San Diego in 1998, and that Frank "operates a thriving fitness mail order business" and teaches a program called the Zane Experience. The Zane Bodybuilding Manual product page describes Frank as "now in his 80s."

Is FrankZane.com legit?

We work for the business, so we won't give a verdict. Here is what a buyer can check for themselves:

  • The person is real and the record matches. Frank Zane's three Mr. Olympia wins (1977, 1978, 1979) are a matter of public record. The Wikipedia article on Frank Zane lists the same three wins and the same degrees from Wilkes and the two California State University campuses.
  • The site names its operator. The terms page names Zananda Inc. and a California mailing address. The privacy policy gives the same address and email.
  • Checkout uses known payment services. The site says checkout takes PayPal, Venmo and major cards, and that you can check out as a guest without making an account.
  • Prices and shipping rules are shown before you pay. Each product page shows the price, whether the item ships abroad, the flat US shipping rule and whether sales tax applies.
  • Contact is by email, not phone. The only published contact routes are the contact form and zane0001@aol.com. There is no phone number or office hours on the site.

The site also shows coached-client stories (for example, competitors it names with their contest placings in 2025) and press coverage: interviews and podcasts dated 2021 to 2023 on its "What they say" page. Those are the site's own selections.

Books are the core of the catalog. Many titles come in both printed and eBook form.

The Books category also includes bundles: the 91 Day Wonder Body Bundle ($39.98), the 91 Day TOTAL Body Bundle ($69), the Wonder Body Super Bundle ($79) and the Zane Ultimate Autographed Bundle ($199). The site says the $199 bundle contains eight items, all autographed by Frank: the Zane Bodybuilding Manual, 91 Day Wonder Body, 91 Day Wonder Abs, 31 Day Wonder Posing, Muscle Past Midlife, 91 Day Peak Physique, the Train with Zane DVD and 10 photos.

eBooks

Most eBooks are $11.99. Titles listed include Symmetry, High Def Body, Let's Grow!, Build Your Arms, Frank Zane's Build Your Calves, Frank's Get Great ABS, Get Finished, Super Bodies in 12 Weeks and Zane Nutrition (both by Frank and Christine Zane), The Zane Body Training Manual, Fabulously Fit Forever, and The Zane Way to a Beautiful Body. Some cost more: the Zane Bodybuilding Manual eBook is $60, the 91 Day Wonder Body and 91 Day Wonder Abs eBooks are $25 each, 31 Day Wonder Posing, Muscle Past Midlife and Overcoming Weak Points are $18 each, 91 Day Peak Physique and The Workouts: Personal Training Diaries are $19.95 each, Mind Body Connection is $12, and Get Started Exercises is $9.95. A Simon & Schuster E-Bundle Special was on sale for $20 (listed as down from $35.97).

A separate "Blasts From the Past" group reissues older courses as $11.99 eBooks: On Posing, How I Won Mr America, The Mind in Bodybuilding, Secrets of Advanced Bodybuilding, Total Training for the Total Body, Build Championship Legs, Developing a Classic Muscular Upper Body, At a Zane Bodybuilding Seminar, Zane Super-Nutrition Cookbook, Year of Zane Photo Album, and Christine Zane's The Feminine Legs, The Feminine Physique and The Feminine Torso.

The eBook pages say they are "delivered by email the moment payment clears," have "no shipping, no waiting," and are "available worldwide."

Building the Body newsletters

Building the Body is described as Frank's quarterly newsletter. The store sells back issues as PDFs grouped by year, from 2001 through 2019. On 19 October 2026 they were all marked on sale at about half the listed price:

  • Four-issue years (2004 to 2015): $9.97 each, listed down from $19.95
  • Three-issue years (2001, 2002, 2016): $7.49, listed down from $14.98
  • 2003 (two issues): $5
  • Single annual issues (2017 Aesthetic Muscle Annual, 2018 and 2019 annuals, and a "Best of Building the Body" issue): $2.50 each

The 2015 page, for example, says the set is "all 4 issues, winter, spring, summer and autumn," delivered "as 4 separate PDFs, straight to your inbox."

Signed photos and bundles

The Autographed Photos category lists numbered 8x10 prints at $15 each. Several are credited to photographers by name on the site: Christine Zane (the 1979 Mr. Olympia vacuum pose, a 1979 black and white, a studio color selection, an upper-body vacuum shot and a Palm Springs cactus garden photo), Michael Avedon (a kneeling black and white) and Artie Zeller (an after-workout gym shot). Others include a 1978 Malibu Beach most-muscular shot, a 1979 desert shot (8.5 x 11), an early-1980s Santa Monica Mountains photo and a photo at age 64.

The home page says the prints are "signed by Frank in California" and that "every print ships flat and protected." Photo bundles let you pick by number from a chart:

Photo bundlePrice
Choose any 2 photos$25
Choose any 4 photos$45
Choose any 6 photos$60
Choose any 9 photos$90
Bundle: All 16 Photos$144

On the bundle pages you type the photo numbers, separated by commas, into a box before adding to cart.

Supplements and stacks

The supplement range is small. The site lists these products and prices:

ProductPriceWhat the listing says it contains
Super Sports Amino Acid Complex$70A capsule blend of 16 free-form amino acids (the listing names lysine, glycine, leucine, methionine, arginine, phenylalanine, valine, isoleucine, histidine, glutamine, threonine, tyrosine, tryptophan, taurine and two alpha-ketoglutarate forms)
Vita-Minz Plus$40A multivitamin and mineral capsule with antioxidants; label directions are 1 to 2 capsules a day with food
L-Arginine$80Single amino acid (250 capsules, per the stack listings)
L-Glutamine$50Single amino acid in crystal (powder) form; 250 grams in the stack listing
L-Tryptophan$70Single amino acid
Liver Extract$24Listed as "aka Energizing Iron, or Ultimate Iron"
Megazyme Pancreatic Digestive Enzyme$27A digestive enzyme tablet; the listing names an outside brand as the maker

Three stacks combine them:

  • Basic Muscle Stack, $100: Super Sports Amino Acids (200 capsules) and Vita-Minz Plus (120 capsules).
  • Muscle Growth Stack, $170: the Basic stack plus L-Arginine (250 capsules).
  • Super Max Muscle Stack, $220: Super Sports Amino Acids, Vita-Minz Plus, L-Arginine and L-Glutamine crystals (250 grams). The listing says this is the combination Frank used through his career and still uses.

Frank writes on the stack pages that he has taken free-form amino acids since 1969. The supplement pages carry the standard notice that the statements "have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration" and that the product "is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease." The Vita-Minz Plus page carries a caution for people taking the drug Coumadin.

Important: supplements ship only within the United States. The category page says: "We do not ship outside of the United States. Please do not order if you live outside the USA." Some product pages also say supplement orders cannot be filled outside the continental USA due to customs restrictions, so if you live in Alaska, Hawaii or a US territory, email before ordering.

This guide is not medical advice. Supplements can interact with medicines and health conditions; talk to a licensed clinician before you start one.

DVD, audio and the meditation system

Train with Zane DVD ($19.99). The site says the DVD shows "the exact form of all the exercise movements and stretches Frank uses in his own workouts and teaches in the Zane Experience program." It is laid out as a three-day split: back, shoulders, chest and abs on day 1; calves, thighs and abs on day 2; triceps, biceps, forearms and abs on day 3, with one set of each exercise and stretch.

Mind Body Connection Visualization Recording ($10). An instant-download audio recording, listed under both Audio Programs and Music.

Frank Zane's Advanced Mind Muscle Meditation System ($435). This is a physical light-and-sound device kit, not a recording. The listing says the box contains a console with a color display and built-in MP3 player, multi-color LED eyewear, ear-bud headphones, a USB power cable, a stereo patch cable, a microSD card with adapter and a soft carry case. It comes with 70-plus preset sessions with names such as "meditate," "focus energy" and "trance," and you can load your own MP3 or WAV files. Like the supplements, it ships within the US only. Its device is made by an outside manufacturer named on the listing.

Apparel and mugs

The Apparel category had 11 items on 19 October 2026: T-shirts at $15.68 to $16.13 (for example the Zane Gym heavy cotton tee, the Mr. Olympia logo tee, the Signature Breast tee, the Train Smart tee, the Vacuum tee and several "motivational" reverse-written tees), a Mr. Olympia logo jersey tank at $22.48, a Vac hooded sweatshirt at $36.45 and an "Inspire Today" crewneck sweatshirt at $39.75. The Zane Gym tee, for example, comes in white, black, sport grey, navy and red, sizes S to 5XL, with a size chart on the page.

The home page says apparel is "printed and shipped on demand." That usually means each item is made after you order, so allow extra time and check the shipping charge at checkout. The Specials category also includes two coffee mugs ($12.18 and $12.32).

Training with Frank: consultations

The "Train with Zane" page describes this as "a rare opportunity to be personally trained" by Frank. There are two options:

Half HourOne Hour
Price$119$199
FormatLive one to one over Zoom, FaceTime, Skype or audioLive one to one over Zoom, FaceTime, Skype or audio
IncludesProgram and physique review, personal follow-up from FrankProgram and physique review, personal follow-up from Frank, plus a free photo analysis
Split optionNoCan be broken into two half-hour sessions
Use-byWithin six months, unless Frank authorizes otherwiseWithin six months, unless Frank authorizes otherwise
Sales taxNot taxedNot taxed

How booking works, according to the product pages: you add the consultation to your cart and pay. Then you email photos of yourself (front, side and back) to zane0001@aol.com with "a brief statement of what you want to accomplish, and when you would like to do the consultation." Frank then contacts you to set a time. The shop labels both sessions "Booked by email."

The free photo analysis with the one-hour session works the same way: you email front, back and side photos and, in the site's words, Frank gives you "a personalised fitness and nutrition evaluation."

The site shows examples of people it says Frank has coached, including competitors with their 2025 contest placings and a reader of the 91 Day Wonder Abs program. Those stories are the site's own testimonials; results depend on the person.

The L.E.A.R.N. equation and the 91-day programs

The coaching page explains Frank's "Bodybuilding Equation": L = E × A × R × N, which the site spells out as "Learn equals Exercise times Attitude times Relax times Nutrition." Each part has its own list:

  • Learn: feedback, photos, expert critique
  • Exercise: weights, aerobics, stretching, posing
  • Attitude: thought, speech, action, motivation
  • Relax: rest, sleep, meditation
  • Nutrition: macronutrition (protein, fats, carbs) and micronutrition (amino acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes)

The site says consultations combine this equation with the 91 Day Wonder Body Program "to provide you with an individually tailored Zane Experience." The 91-day books (Wonder Body, Wonder Abs, Peak Physique) are the self-guided version: printed workbooks or eBooks with a day-by-day schedule. The site describes the 91-Day Wonder Body as suitable for "novice to life-long bodybuilders, personal trainers and men and women from all walks of life."

Two features set the material apart from many training books: the emphasis on posing (a whole 31-day posing book, plus posing sections in the manual) and on the mental side, including meditation and visualization. The home page notes Frank's psychology degrees and says he "wrote about the mind in training long before anyone else in the sport did."

Any training program carries some risk of injury. Check with a doctor before starting a new program if you have a health condition.

How it compares with other options

We don't name other businesses. Here is how buying from Frank's own site compares with the general alternatives:

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

A good fit if you…

  • Want to train using Frank Zane's own programs, in his own words
  • Care about symmetry, proportion and posing more than maximum size
  • Are an older lifter interested in titles such as Muscle Past Midlife
  • Collect bodybuilding history and want signed photos or the newsletter archive
  • Want a one-off video review of your training and physique with a former Mr. Olympia
  • Are fine with email as the only way to reach the business

Look elsewhere if you…

  • Live outside the US and want supplements or the meditation system
  • Need weekly in-person coaching or hands-on form correction
  • Want a published return policy and phone support before you buy
  • Need medical or dietary advice for a health condition (see a licensed clinician)
  • Need a guaranteed delivery date

Questions to ask before you buy or book

  • For a consultation: how soon after I pay will Frank contact me, and what time zones work?
  • What should my photos and goal statement include so the session is useful?
  • Can the one-hour session be split into two half hours on different dates? (The site says yes; confirm timing.)
  • What is the return or exchange policy for books, photos, apparel and the meditation system?
  • Can supplements ship to my state or territory?
  • Which photo numbers are in the "All 16 Photos" bundle?
  • Is a given printed book also available as an eBook, and is the content the same?
  • How long does an apparel order usually take to arrive?

How to get started

  1. If you are new to Frank's method, start with one book or eBook. The 91-Day Wonder Body workbook and the Zane Bodybuilding Manual are the broadest titles on the site.
  2. Read the biography and a few blog posts on the site to see whether the approach suits you.
  3. If you want personal feedback, book the half-hour ($119) or one-hour ($199) consultation and email your photos and goal to zane0001@aol.com.
  4. For questions before you order, use the contact form or the same email address.

Terms you'll see on the site

  • Mr. Olympia / the Sandow: the top professional bodybuilding title (the site calls it the "world professional bodybuilding champion" title). The site refers to the Mr. Olympia trophy as the Sandow and calls Frank's wins "three consecutive Sandow trophies."
  • Vacuum pose: a pose where the abdomen is drawn in hard to show a small waist. Several of the signed photos show it.
  • Symmetry and proportion: how evenly muscles are developed and how body parts relate in size; the central idea of Frank's approach.
  • Stack: a set of supplements sold together.
  • Free-form amino acids: single amino acids in pure form rather than as part of a whole protein.
  • Zane Experience: the name the Zanes use for their training, nutrition and relaxation program.
  • L.E.A.R.N.: Frank's equation, Learn = Exercise × Attitude × Relax × Nutrition.
  • Building the Body: Frank's quarterly newsletter, sold by the year as PDFs.
