MRI Med website home page

MRI Med is an eSEOspace client: we work on its website and search marketing. This guide uses the company's own published information, checked on 19 October 2026, and every source is listed at the end. We don't rate or score our clients. Prices, stock and policies change, so confirm them on mrimed.com before you order.

What is MRI Med?

MRI Med is a specialist supplier for one narrow, high-stakes place: the MRI suite. An MRI scanner's main magnet stays on all the time, so ordinary steel objects (a hospital wheelchair, a crash cart, an oxygen tank, a screwdriver) can be pulled toward it with great force. Facilities therefore need versions of everyday equipment built from non-magnetic materials and labeled for use near the magnet. That is the gap MRI Med fills.

The company describes itself as working in "the design, manufacturing, and distribution" of products for the MRI imaging market, and says it makes "both standard and custom products tailored to meet the unique needs of MRI facilities and their patients." Its stated priorities are patient comfort, operational efficiency and safety. Its category pages say it designs, manufactures and distributes these products "from California."

In practice, mrimed.com works like an online store with a phone line behind it. You can browse and check out directly with a card, or call or email for quotes, bulk pricing, purchase orders and product questions. Alongside MRI products it sells X-ray positioning aids and table pads, CT table covers, and a full ultrasound section (coupling gels, gel warmers, probe covers, positioning cushions, exam tables and room furnishings), so multi-modality departments can order from one place.

This is a business-to-business supplier. Its return policy says orders delivered to home addresses are final sale, and it tells individuals buying an item for their own upcoming scan to "check with your scan facility before purchasing."

Who owns or runs MRI Med?

The site does not name its owners or staff. It says the company is "owned and operated by a group of individuals with over 80 years of combined MRI experience," and its category pages add that the team "has worked in MRI product development for years." No founding year is published.

If you need a named contact for vendor setup or a supplier questionnaire, ask the sales team by phone (707-762-8600) or email (info@mrimed.com). Hospital procurement departments usually need a legal entity name, W-9 and remit-to address, and the company's payment policy gives a remit address for accounts receivable (see below).

Is MRI Med legit?

Buyers usually ask this before placing a four- or five-figure order with a supplier they haven't used. Here is what can be checked on the company's own site:

  • Published contact details. Every page lists a phone number (707-762-8600), a fax number (707-762-8603), an email address (info@mrimed.com) and a mailing address (PO Box 751561, Petaluma, CA 94975-1561), plus business hours.
  • Written policies. The site publishes separate payment, shipping, returns/exchange and warranty policies, with specifics such as a 30-day return window, a restocking fee of up to 25% and a 48-hour window to report freight damage.
  • Purchase orders on account. It accepts purchase orders "on approval (accounts in good standing)" with Net 30 terms, which is the normal way hospitals buy.
  • Detailed product specifications. Product pages list item numbers, dimensions, weight capacities, materials, the MR rating and its field-strength limit (for example "MR Conditional to 3T"), and warranty terms.
  • Visible presence in the field. Its Resources page lists MRI safety conferences and the RSNA annual meeting that the team says it attends, and a free MRI Safety Week 2026 webinar series it shared. The site also links to company profiles on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.

What the site does not publish: named owners, a founding date, a street address for a showroom or warehouse, or customer reviews. We did not find a public record we could verify for this guide, so we have not quoted one. If supplier vetting matters, ask the company for a W-9, a certificate of insurance and references from a facility like yours.

MR Safe, MR Conditional, MR Unsafe: the labels behind the catalog

Almost every product on mrimed.com carries one of three labels from the ASTM F2503 standard. The company's own explainer pages describe them this way:

LabelIconWhat it meansTypical examples on the site
MR SafeGreen squareNon-conducting, non-metallic and non-magnetic; no known hazards in any MR environmentPositioning pads and wedges, prism glasses, earplugs, many signs, ACR phantoms
MR ConditionalYellow triangleSafe only under stated conditions, such as a maximum field strength (for example 3T) or spatial gradientWheelchairs, stretchers, carts, oxygen cylinders and regulators, fire extinguishers, sound systems
MR UnsafeRed circle with a line through itPoses hazards in all MR environments; must stay out of the magnet roomSome items meant for Zone II or outside the magnet room, such as an MR Unsafe version of a retractable warning belt

The practical point for buyers: "MR Conditional" is not a blanket approval. Each product page states its own limit, and most items in the catalog are rated "to 3T," which means they are not cleared for a stronger research magnet. One stretcher on the site is listed as MR Conditional to 7 Tesla. Match each item's stated conditions to your own scanners, and check with your MR safety officer or physicist before anything goes into Zone IV.

This guide is not safety or medical advice. MRI Med publishes long safety FAQs and guides, but decisions about what enters your magnet room belong to your facility's MR safety program and the manufacturer's labeling.

The company's FAQ says it carries "over 1000 products." Its store sitemap listed about 810 product pages when we checked, many with several sizes or versions, so the higher figure likely counts variants.

Wheelchairs, stretchers and patient transport

Moving patients into the magnet room is one of the main reasons facilities buy from a specialist, and it is one of the largest parts of the catalog (22 wheelchair listings and 16 stretcher-related listings when we checked).

  • Wheelchairs. Listed prices start at $1,245 (18-inch MRI Safe wheelchair) and $1,445 (20-inch). MR Conditional models include a 20-inch, 350 lb capacity chair at $2,769, a 24-inch chair with flip-up arms and removable footrests at $2,950, a 24-inch bariatric chair rated to 600 lb at $3,495, and a 26-inch bariatric chair rated to 850 lb at $4,895. The 24-inch chair's page lists a 5-year frame warranty and 1-year warranty on upholstery and metal parts, and says the line comes in 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26-inch widths.
  • Stretchers. A non-ferrous stretcher is listed at $4,195 and a 350 lb capacity transport stretcher at $5,100. The company's own "MRI Med Adjustable Height Stretcher" is $9,999: the site says it was tested at 7 Tesla and is MR Conditional to 7T, with a hydraulic dual-pedal height pump (19.5 to 37 inches), gas-spring Trendelenburg, adjustable backrest, 500 lb capacity, folding side rails, a wipe-clean mattress, and an included oxygen-cylinder holder and IV pole. A non-ferrous height-adjustable stretcher is listed at $12,995. Stretchers ship by freight.
  • Other transport. Non-magnetic folding walkers ($229 adult, $279 bariatric), a patient transport chair ($4,400), patient transfer aids, backboard straps and wheelchair and stretcher accessories such as an E-cylinder holder for wheelchairs ($80).

One return rule matters here: the policy says stretchers "returned without the original crate and pallet are non-returnable," so keep the packaging until you're sure.

MRI carts

MRI Med's carts page explains why the category exists: a standard crash or linen cart is built around steel frames, slides and casters, and one rolled past the magnet room door becomes a hazard. Its carts are built from aluminum, plastics or selected stainless alloys with non-ferrous hardware. The range includes:

  • Emergency (crash) carts: from a PVC crash cart at $469 up to an MR Conditional pediatric crash cart with nine drawers and a breakaway lock at $6,975. That pediatric cart's page says it is tested to 3 Tesla by an independent testing authority, meets the ASTM F2503 definition of MR Conditional, ships fully assembled with 100 breakaway seals, and carries a 12-year limited manufacturer's warranty (1 year on bought-out parts). The company says it is made in the USA.
  • Anesthesia carts: eight narrow six- and seven-drawer configurations in "standard" and "specialty" packages, listed from $5,875 to $8,359.
  • Utility carts: two- and three-shelf models from $369 to $469.
  • Linen carts and hampers: from a $69 insert to MR Conditional hampers around $499 to $595, with listings up to $787.
  • Cylinder carts and holders: for example 4-slot and 6-slot D/E cylinder carts at $532 and $585.
  • Coil carts: an MR coil cart at $2,695.
  • Accessories: drawer dividers ($205 to $315), IV poles for carts, label dispensers and similar add-ons.

The carts page suggests choosing by zone first (a cart that stays in Zone III has different needs from one that enters Zone IV on every case), then by how your crash and anesthesia carts are stocked elsewhere in the hospital, then planning for labeling.

Safety, screening and emergency equipment

The MRI Safety category is aimed at the people responsible for zone control, signage and screening. What's listed:

  • Signs and labels: 35 sign listings from a $12.95 warning sign to a $1,429 swing-door safety sign, including zone sign combo packs ($75 small, $95 standard, and a Spanish version), "Magnet Always On" light-up signs ($139 to $259) and an LED "MRI In Use" sign ($139), and ASTM icon labels in 12, 25 and 50 packs (for example $34 for 25 red MR Unsafe labels).
  • Access control: retractable warning belts in MR Conditional and MR Unsafe versions (the MR Unsafe version is $79.95), door locks, and a gate-style access-control system listed at $37,554.
  • Screening: a handheld test magnet ($199), handheld ferromagnetic detectors ($5,699, or $6,750 for the MR Conditional version), and three installed ferromagnetic detection systems marked "call for pricing."
  • Hearing protection: foam earplugs (a paired 37 SNR pack is $109), dispensers, an insertion tool, headsets from $65 to $450 including the Magnacoustics MagnaCoil (NRR 30 dB, from $139) and MagnaMuff+ models ($350), and infant hearing protection ($95).
  • Emergency gear: MRI fire extinguishers at $289 (5 lb disposable ABC dry chemical, seamless aluminum cylinder, MR Conditional to 3T, 6-year limited warranty), $299 (water) and $369 (rechargeable BC). The ABC model's page notes it is "recommended for use outside MRI rooms." Non-magnetic flashlights are also listed.

Patient comfort, positioning and monitoring

Comfort. The MRI Full Sound System ($3,895) is described as dual-source audio (patient and technologist can listen to different sources), compatible with two headsets so a companion can listen, auto-muting when the technologist speaks, Bluetooth streaming, an included iPad Mini and stand, MR Conditional to 3T, and compatible with several scanner makers' 3T-and-lower magnets. A Mini Sound System is $2,695. Other comfort items: prism glasses ($89 and $159) that let a patient see out of the bore, prescription MRI glasses for adults and children from $1,099 (range -5 to +3), eye shades and table pads.

Positioning and imaging aids. Wedges from $12, sandbags from $35, knee, head and TMJ positioners, full table pad kits sized for specific scanner models ($1,355 to $1,500), skin markers ($144 per pack), and SAT pad kits for knee, ankle, shoulder and breast imaging from $2,300 to $10,350.

Monitoring and gas. MRI patient monitors are listed from $6,200 (single-parameter SpO2 monitor) up to $32,000 and $39,995 (full monitoring system, with or without a remote monitor). An MRI ventilator is $14,950. CCTV camera systems are $3,195 (single) and $4,195 (dual, split-screen, optional recording, MR Conditional to 3T). On the gas side: aluminum D and E oxygen cylinders ($149 to $169, which the company says are made in the USA), MR Conditional oxygen and vacuum regulators ($239 to $540), flowmeters ($119 and $127), nasal cannulas and stethoscopes (from $30 disposable to $109 and up).

Procedures. LED laryngoscope kits ($995) and blades ($115 to $159), titanium surgical instruments, biopsy coil covers ($89 to $299), contrast syringes, IV poles ($95 to $850), Mayo stands ($579 and $609), and an LED mobile exam light ($2,995; the home page lists UL and CE approval, dimmer, 12-hour runtime at maximum brightness and a jointed arm).

These are descriptions of what the company sells, not a recommendation of any device for a patient. Clinical choices belong to your clinicians and MR safety team.

Non-magnetic tools and QA phantoms

Tools. Biomed and service staff can buy single titanium tools (a Phillips screwdriver from about $20, offset screwdrivers, pliers, sockets, wrenches, scissors, a 24-inch non-magnetic level at $79) or kits: a 3-piece kit ($199), a 6-piece kit ($397), and 18-, 19- and 35-piece 3T kits matched to particular scanner makers ($1,275, $1,296 and $2,894.33). The 35-piece kit's page lists 11 hex keys, 10 open-end wrenches, 8 screwdrivers, an inspection mirror, two pliers, tweezers, a folding ruler and a plastic case, MR Conditional to 3T. Non-magnetic aluminum and fiberglass ladders ($515 and $602) sit in the furniture section.

Phantoms. For quality control, the site lists small, medium and large ACR phantoms ($2,599 for small, $2,795 for medium or large), a phantom refill and bubble-remover kit ($329), cases and carts, and phantoms for several scanner makers. The large phantom's page says it supports tests including geometric distortion, slice thickness and position, spatial resolution, low-contrast detectability, uniformity and signal-to-noise ratio, comes with a manual, is MR Safe and CE certified, and lists the ACR MRI Accreditation Program among the guidelines it complies with.

What isn't in the listed price. Shipping is added after the order is packed and weighed, and is based on weight, size and your location. Sales tax and any discounts are calculated at checkout. Large items such as stretchers ship by freight. If you use your own carrier account you are still charged a handling fee.

Bulk and institutional pricing. The FAQ says bulk pricing is available on many accessories and supplies (for example headphone covers, labels, earplugs, masks and electrodes), and that facilities can ask for custom quotes on capital equipment, including multi-unit and suite-wide packages. The same FAQ says MRI Med "has a lowest price guarantee and will beat any other listed price by 3%." Ask the sales team how that guarantee is applied before you rely on it.

Insurance and financing. MRI Med sells equipment to facilities, so health insurance doesn't apply. The site doesn't mention financing or leasing; ask if you need it.

How ordering, payment and shipping work

  1. Find the item. Browse by category or search the store. Each product page shows an item number (for example TR-102 or SM-105), price, specifications and the MR rating.
  2. Ask questions first if needed. The company invites calls or emails about any product before you order, and its FAQ says it will suggest products for a specific application. The contact form asks for your name, facility, email, phone, subject and message.
  3. Order online or by purchase order. Card orders can be placed through the website checkout; your card is charged when you place the order and refunded if the order can't be filled. Accepted payment: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, check or money order, and purchase orders on approval for accounts in good standing. Terms are Net 30 unless other arrangements are made. Payments by mail go to MRI Med, Attn: Accounts Receivable, PO Box 751561, Petaluma, CA 94975-1561.
  4. Shipping. The shipping policy says in-stock items typically ship within 48 hours of the order, Monday to Friday. Non-stock items vary: call for an estimate. Carriers are UPS, FedEx or freight. Some items offer a "Rush Shipping" option, and expedited orders must be placed by 12:00 noon Pacific to make that day's carrier pickup. If part of an order is backordered, the in-stock items ship first and the rest follows when available.
  5. Tracking. When the carrier provides a tracking number, MRI Med adds it to your order.
  6. Inspect on delivery. If the outside of the package looks damaged, note it on the carrier's proof-of-delivery slip when you sign. Report any damage or missing items in writing, with photos, to both MRI Med and the carrier within 48 hours of delivery.

Returns, exchanges and warranties

Returns. According to the returns policy:

  • Returns need approval from an MRI Med representative. Email info@MRImed.com to request a Return Authorization (RA) number.
  • Items must be unopened, unused, unaltered and in original condition (unless there is a manufacturer defect), and returns must be made within 30 days of the shipment date.
  • Include a signed letter giving the reason, the PO, invoice or packing slip, and the RA number marked clearly on the outside of the box.
  • Returned stock items may carry a restocking fee of up to 25%, deducted from the refund. Original shipping and handling is not refundable.
  • Non-returnable items include custom products, made-to-order PVC items, disposables, glasses and certain electronics, among others.
  • Orders delivered to residential addresses are final sale.
  • Stretchers returned without the original crate and pallet can't be returned.

Exchanges also need an RA number, may carry a restocking fee of up to 25%, and you pay return shipping.

Warranties vary by product and manufacturer, and the warranty policy points you to each product page. Single-use and disposable products are not covered. Examples from product pages: a 12-year limited manufacturer's warranty on the pediatric crash cart, a 5-year frame and 1-year upholstery warranty on the 24-inch wheelchair, a 6-year limited warranty on the disposable ABC fire extinguisher, and a 1-year warranty on the sound system's patient amplifier. For anything expensive, ask whether MRI Med handles a warranty claim directly or passes it to the manufacturer.

Where is MRI Med, and who does it ship to?

MRI Med is in Petaluma, California, in Sonoma County north of San Francisco. The site publishes a mailing address (PO Box 751561, Petaluma, CA 94975-1561) rather than a street address, and doesn't mention a showroom or will-call pickup, so treat it as a ship-to-you supplier and call ahead if you want to see a product.

Its structured data lists the United States as its service area, and its FAQ says it ships internationally. For international orders, the FAQ says large items may need freight with a customs broker, smaller items go by standard international carriers, and import duties and taxes depend on the destination country. Call for an international shipping quote.

Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific time, Monday to Friday.

How it compares with other ways to buy MRI equipment

OptionWhat it's likeThings to weigh
A specialist MRI-only supplier (like MRI Med)Catalog built around MR Safe and MR Conditional labeling; staff who know zones and field-strength limits; many prices published onlineSmaller company; check warranty handling, lead times on non-stock items and freight costs
A large general medical distributorVery broad catalog, existing contracts and often group purchasing pricingMRI-specific items may be a small part of the range; confirm each item's MR rating yourself
Buying direct from a device manufacturerDirect line to the people who tested and labeled the productOne product family per supplier, so outfitting a whole suite means many vendors and purchase orders
Your scanner vendor's accessory programAccessories sized for your specific scanner modelUsually limited to that vendor's own accessories, not carts, transport or safety gear
Used or refurbished equipmentLower pricesMR Conditional status can be lost if an item was repaired with non-original parts; documentation may be missing

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

A good fit if you…

  • Buy for a hospital MRI department, outpatient imaging center or mobile MRI unit
  • Are outfitting a new MRI suite and want carts, transport, safety and comfort items from one supplier
  • Are an MR safety officer replacing signage, labels, screening tools or fire extinguishers
  • Are biomed or facilities staff who need non-magnetic tools or ladders
  • Want to see prices and specifications before you call
  • Pay by purchase order on Net 30 terms

Look elsewhere if you…

  • Are a patient buying something for your own scan (residential orders are final sale; ask your imaging center first)
  • Need equipment rated for magnets stronger than an item's stated limit (most items are rated to 3T)
  • Need same-day pickup or want to see products in a showroom
  • Need the scanner itself or scanner service; MRI Med sells accessories and suite equipment
  • Must buy only through a specific group purchasing contract (ask MRI Med whether it's on yours)

Questions to ask before you order

  • What are the exact MR Conditional conditions for this item (field strength, spatial gradient), and can you send the test documentation?
  • Is the item in stock, and if not, what is the lead time?
  • Does it ship by parcel or freight, and what will shipping cost to our address?
  • Who handles warranty claims: MRI Med or the manufacturer? How long is the warranty?
  • Is this item returnable, and would a restocking fee apply?
  • Do you offer bulk or multi-unit pricing for our quantity, and how does your price-match guarantee work?
  • Can you set us up for purchase orders on Net 30, and what do you need from us?
  • Does the item arrive assembled? (The pediatric crash cart, for example, is listed as delivered fully assembled.)
  • For ferromagnetic detection systems: what is the price, and what installation is involved?

How to get started

  1. Walk your MRI suite by zone and list what needs replacing or adding.
  2. Note each scanner's field strength so you can check items' MR Conditional limits.
  3. Browse mrimed.com by category and note item numbers and prices.
  4. For quotes, bulk pricing, purchase orders or "call for pricing" items, phone 707-762-8600 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific, Monday to Friday) or email info@mrimed.com.
  5. Order online by card, or send a purchase order once your account is approved.
  6. Check the delivery for damage and report any problem within 48 hours.
