Proof website home page

Proof is an eSEOspace client: we work on its website content and search marketing. This guide uses the company's own published information, checked on 19 October 2026, plus one public record, and every source is listed at the end. We don't rate or score our clients. Prices, policies and hemp laws change, so confirm the details on proofremedy.com before you buy. This guide is not medical, veterinary or legal advice.

The short answer

Proof is a women-owned hemp CBD brand from Sonoma County, California, that sells online at proofremedy.com. It was founded in 2016 by Julie Mercer-Ingram, a California cannabis attorney, and Sarah Miletich, an organic chemist who formulates the products. The online lineup is short: CBD Comfort Drops, CBD + CBN Sleepy Drops, Ice Hot CBD Roll-On and Pets CBD Drops, each $35, plus two $60 bundles and gift cards. The company says its online products are broad-spectrum and THC-free, and it posts lab reports. It ships within the US (not to Montana), offers free shipping over $60 and a 30-day money-back guarantee, and answers email at info@proofremedy.com.

What is Proof?

Proof is a small California company that formulates and sells hemp-derived CBD products. The brand calls itself simply "Proof"; its online store lives at proofremedy.com, and its terms of service say the website is operated by "Proof Hemp Store." The About page describes it as women-owned and women-operated, founded in 2016 in Sonoma County, with fewer than 20 employees, and says its products are "made by hand" in small batches.

The online catalog is deliberately narrow. There are four products (three oils taken by mouth and one roll-on for the skin), two bundles that pair them, and a gift card. Every product the store ships is described by the company as broad-spectrum hemp extract with no THC. The store organizes the products by routine rather than by format: sleep, everyday calm and balance, "targeted comfort," and pets.

Around that small catalog sits a much larger library of free reading: a blog with well over a hundred articles, a 300-plus-question CBD FAQ page, a glossary, a safety guide, owner's guides for each product, a lab-testing section and a podcast. The site's footer carries the standard FDA statement that the products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and says you must be 18 or older to buy or use Proof products.

Who owns and runs Proof?

The site names two founders, and both have their own profile pages.

  • Julie Mercer-Ingram, Founder and President. Her page says she is a licensed California attorney who has practiced cannabis and hemp law since 2015, that she co-founded Proof in 2016 out of a personal need for CBD she could trust, and that she served as Co-Chair of the Sonoma County Cannabis Advisory Group from 2017 to 2019. She also says she developed Proof's branding, drawing on design studies before her legal career.
  • Sarah Miletich, CEO and Lead Formulator. Her page says she holds a BS in Organic Chemistry from The Evergreen State College and an MS in Cosmetic Science from the University of Cincinnati, with a capstone on topical cannabis absorption, and that she personally formulates every Proof product. She is the named reviewer on the site's Tested Clean page.

Julie's page says the company has stayed women-led and self-funded, with no outside investors. The two founders also co-host the company's podcast, Proof of Wellness. No other staff are named on the pages we checked.

Is Proof legit? What can be checked

People asking this usually want to know whether a real company stands behind the bottle and whether the label can be checked. Here is what is public:

  • Named founders with checkable credentials. A State Bar of California search on 19 October 2026 returned an active licensee record for Julie Elizabeth Mercer, located in Sebastopol, admitted June 2009 (bar number 263958). That matches the name and area on the site, though the record itself does not mention Proof. Sarah's degrees are stated on her profile page; we did not verify them with the schools.
  • Lab reports you can open. The Tested Clean and Lab Testing pages publish product reports from SC Labs and list the hemp-input reports matched to production batches (details below). The company also says plainly what it does not do: it does not currently test each individual product batch.
  • Written policies. Refund, shipping, privacy and terms pages are all linked from every page, and the refund policy spells out fees and limits.
  • A published editorial policy. It says articles are written in-house under named bylines, that health content is reviewed by a pharmacist or physician and pet content by a veterinarian, and that unreviewed articles carry no reviewer line.
  • Awards and press the company lists. The Press & Awards page lists four Emerald Cup first-place awards (2022 to 2024), a 2026 California State Fair Cannabis Award, Sarah's 2025 North Bay Business Journal "Forty Under 40" recognition and Julie's 2022 Marijuana Venture "Women to Watch" honor. Several of the award-winning products named (a face serum, a CBG tincture, an intimacy oil) are not part of the online hemp lineup.
  • Its own review figures. When we checked, the product pages showed 22 reviews averaging 4.91 for Comfort Drops, 15 averaging 4.8 for Sleepy Drops, 11 averaging 4.36 for Ice Hot and 8 averaging 5.0 for Pets CBD Drops. These are collected and displayed by the store itself.

What is not published: a phone number, a street address for the workshop, or a link to any third-party review profile. Contact is by email or the contact form.

The homepage describes the whole range as vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free, and says Proof uses broad-spectrum hemp extract in every formula, sourced, according to the Lab Testing page, from an FDA-registered, cGMP and Organic certified facility in Oregon. Sarah's profile adds that most of the tinctures are "just two ingredients: hemp extract and MCT oil."

The products, one by one

CBD Comfort Drops. The company's daytime oil, positioned for "everyday calm and balance." Each of the 30 doses is listed at 33 mg of broad-spectrum CBD. The product page frames it as the daytime half of a pair with Sleepy Drops and says it is "not formulated to sedate," while noting that drowsiness is among the more commonly reported effects of CBD and suggesting you try your first dose on a day when you can see how it lands. Label directions: 0.5 ml once or twice daily.

CBD + CBN Sleepy Drops. The evening oil. Each dose is listed at 20 mg CBD plus 20 mg CBN (cannabinol), 30 doses per bottle. The page describes it as part of a "nighttime wind-down routine," says it is sugar-free so it can be taken after brushing your teeth, and lists the same two ingredients as Comfort Drops. Label directions: start with 0.5 ml at night, held under the tongue for about 60 seconds. Julie's profile and the product page tell her own story of creating it; that is the company's personal account, not evidence about how it will work for you. CBN is also the ingredient most affected by open questions under the 2026 federal hemp changes (see below).

Ice Hot CBD Roll-On. A 1,000 mg CBD topical in a rollerball bottle, with menthol and camphor that the company says give a cooling then warming sensation, plus arnica and several essential oils. The roll-on format is pitched as a way to apply it to the neck, shoulders, back, knees, wrists or ankles without getting it on your hands. Label directions: apply to clean, dry skin two to three times a day, avoiding eyes, broken skin and sensitive areas.

Pets CBD Drops. A 300 mg broad-spectrum CBD oil for dogs and cats, given in food, on a treat or by mouth. The product page publishes a weight chart (shown in the how-to section), tells owners to start low, hold an amount for about a week before adjusting, and talk to a veterinarian, especially for older pets or pets on medication. It has a separate section on cats, which it says are more sensitive than dogs and should not be dosed by scaling down a dog amount.

Bundles. The Day & Night Relief Bundle (Comfort + Sleepy) and the Relief & Recovery Bundle (Comfort + Ice Hot) are each $60 against $70 bought separately, a $10 saving the company puts at about 15%. Bundles are not available on subscription.

Gift cards. Digital cards in six amounts from $10 to $200.

How much does Proof cost?

Prices published on 19 October 2026:

What you buyPublished priceNotes
Any single product (Comfort, Sleepy, Ice Hot or Pets)$35One-time purchase
Single product on Subscribe & Save$29.75 (15% off), $31.50 (10% off) or 5% offDiscount depends on delivery cadence; see below
Day & Night or Relief & Recovery bundle$60$70 if bought separately
Gift card$10 to $200Six fixed amounts
ShippingFree over $60Smaller orders, including single-bottle subscription orders, pay shipping (rate shown at checkout)

Cost per milligram, by our arithmetic from the label amounts: Comfort Drops work out to about 3.5 cents per mg of CBD ($35 for 990 mg); Ice Hot to 3.5 cents per mg ($35 for 1,000 mg); Pets CBD Drops to about 11.7 cents per mg ($35 for 300 mg). Sleepy Drops carry 600 mg of CBD and 600 mg of CBN per bottle by label, so a straight CBD comparison does not fit. At the label's 0.5 ml once a day, the product guides say a bottle of drops lasts about 30 days, or 15 days at twice a day.

Proof does not publish insurance billing or HSA/FSA details; CBD wellness products are generally bought out of pocket. Payment is taken at the store's Shopify checkout, which has a field for discount codes.

How does Subscribe & Save work?

Each single product can be bought on a repeating delivery schedule. The Subscribe & Save page says the discount is applied automatically on every order, with "up to 15%" off, and that you can modify, skip, pause or cancel at any time, free, from your customer account portal.

  • Every 2 weeks: 15% off ($29.75 instead of $35).
  • Every month: 10% off ($31.50).
  • Every 6 weeks: 5% off.

The page notes that delivery options "vary by product," so check the choices on the product you want. One serving a night lasts about a month, the Sleepy Drops guide says, so it suggests monthly as the natural match. Two points to keep in mind: a single-bottle subscription order is under the $60 free-shipping line, so it pays shipping, and bundles cannot be put on subscription.

How does Proof test its products?

The Tested Clean page (last reviewed 9 October 2026 by Sarah Miletich) and the Lab Testing page set out the program in some detail. In short:

  • Labs. Proof works with Anresco Laboratories and SC Labs, which it describes as independent, ISO/IEC 17025 accredited labs with no financial stake in the results.
  • Hemp inputs. Proof says it tests all hemp inputs (the extracts that go into the products) for potency, pesticides, heavy metals, mycotoxins, residual solvents and microbials. The Lab Testing page lists production batch numbers next to the hemp-input reports used in each.
  • Finished products. Proof tested initial batches of each product "to validate the formulation technique and the non-hemp ingredients." Those reports cover cannabinoid potency and microbials for the finished product.
  • What it does not do. In the company's words: "Proof does not currently test each individual product batch."

The finished-product results published on the Tested Clean page, all from SC Labs and dated 11 May 2025:

ProductLabel claimTested resultTHC
CBD Comfort Drops990 mg CBD per bottle1,027 mg CBDNot detected
CBD + CBN Sleepy Drops600 mg CBD + 600 mg CBN617 mg CBD and 618 mg CBNNot detected
Pets CBD Drops300 mg CBD305 mg CBDNot detected
Ice Hot CBD Roll-On1,000 mg CBD1,002 mg CBDNot detected

Two practical notes from the company's own pages. First, the batch number and expiry date are printed on the box, so keep it if you want to match your bottle to the Lab Testing page. Second, "THC-free" means the lab did not detect it: the Tested Clean page says no lab can prove zero, and gives the detection limit used for delta-9 THC (0.002 mg per mL). Some marketing lines elsewhere on the site describe testing more broadly than this; the Tested Clean page is the most specific statement, so read it before you rely on any single product-page line.

Do Proof products contain THC?

The products sold and shipped from proofremedy.com are described as broad-spectrum CBD with no THC, and the May 2025 finished-product reports show THC not detected in all four. Product-page FAQs say the online products "contain only CBD, no THC."

Drug tests. Proof's own safety guide and FAQ are careful here: standard workplace tests look for a THC metabolite, not CBD, but "no CBD product can guarantee a negative drug test." If you are tested for work, sport, the military or probation, the company's advice is to treat its broad-spectrum products as lower risk, not no risk, and to check with whoever runs your testing program.

Proof sells hemp-derived CBD, which federal law has treated as hemp since the 2018 Farm Bill when it meets the THC limit. States set their own rules, and Proof's shipping policy says it does not ship to Montana "due to state laws in MT."

The federal definition of hemp is changing in late 2026. Proof published a detailed explainer by Julie Mercer-Ingram on 14 October 2026. As of its stated check date (23 September 2026), it says:

  • Section 781 of the FY2026 agriculture appropriations act (Public Law 119-37, signed 12 November 2025) rewrites the definition of hemp. It counts total THC including THCA, caps finished products at 0.4 mg of total THC per container, and excludes cannabinoids "synthesized or manufactured outside the plant."
  • It was written to take effect on 12 November 2026. A stopgap funding law signed on 2 September 2026 (Public Law 119-103) limits it until 11 December 2026 to cannabinoids the plant cannot naturally produce. The rest, including the 0.4 mg cap, is scheduled for 11 December 2026, and that date could move again.
  • Proof says all four of its online products' reports show total THC not detected, but that how the new rules and FDA's lists will treat CBN (the second cannabinoid in Sleepy Drops) is an open question it is working through with counsel. It says it will update customers on that page when it has an answer.

An older post on the same blog (November 2025) gave a single November 2026 date; the October 2026 explainer is the current one. For anything about your own situation, talk to a lawyer.

Shipping and delivery

  • Where: United States only. No shipping to Montana; orders placed there are canceled.
  • Processing: usually 1 to 3 business days, longer in busy periods. Orders ship from Northern California.
  • Transit: the shipping policy says standard shipping usually takes 3 to 7 business days. Product pages say orders "usually arrive within 3-5 days after shipping." Plan on the policy's longer range.
  • Cost: free over $60; otherwise calculated at checkout.
  • Changes: the policy says orders cannot be edited once placed, so check your address before you pay.

Returns and the 30-day guarantee

Proof calls it the "No Regrets" 30-Day Money Back Guarantee, counted from the date your order is delivered. The refund policy works in two tracks:

SituationSend it back?What you get
Unopened, in original tamper-evident packagingYes, with a prepaid label the company emails youFull price plus sales tax, minus the label cost (typically around $5)
Opened or usedNo; keep, donate or dispose of itFull price minus a $5 processing fee; sales tax not refunded
Damaged, defective or wrong itemContact them right away with photosReplacement or a full refund including taxes and shipping

The no-return option for opened products is limited to a first-time purchase of a given product and covers at most one unit. To start a claim, email info@proofremedy.com with your order number and a short note on which items and why. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days. Approved returns are mailed to 321 S Main St. #509, Sebastopol, CA 95472.

How the products are meant to be used

These are the label directions as published on the product pages and owner's guides. They describe how the company says to use its products, not a recommendation for you. Ask a clinician or pharmacist first if you take medication, and a veterinarian before giving anything to a pet.

  • Comfort Drops: 0.5 ml once or twice daily, increasing gradually as desired; hold under the tongue for about 60 seconds, or add to food or drink.
  • Sleepy Drops: start with 0.5 ml at night, held under the tongue; can also go in food or a drink.
  • Ice Hot Roll-On: roll onto clean, dry skin two to three times a day; avoid eyes, broken skin and sensitive areas; let it absorb before covering; wash hands after applying near the face; do not use a heat pad over it.
  • Droppers: the owner's guides say the dropper is marked at 0.25 ml and 0.5 ml, and that one drop is about 0.05 ml.

The Pets CBD Drops page publishes this weight chart:

Pet weightCBD amountMeasure
Under 10 lb1 to 2 mg1 to 2 drops
10 to 30 lb5 to 10 mg0.25 to 0.5 ml
30 to 60 lb10 to 20 mg0.5 to 1 ml
Over 60 lb20 to 30 mg1 to 1.5 ml

Each product has a free owner's guide on the site covering how long a bottle lasts, storage, what is normal and what to do if the product does not suit you.

Safety notes the company publishes

Proof's CBD Safety guide is more cautious than typical brand copy, and it is worth reading before a first order. Its main points:

  • Medication interactions. CBD is processed by the CYP2C19 and CYP3A4 liver enzymes, the same pathways as many prescription drugs. The guide's advice is to bring your full medication list to a pharmacist before starting.
  • Who should get medical guidance first: anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with liver disease or raised liver enzymes, anyone taking prescription medication, anyone scheduled for surgery, and children.
  • Side effects reported in trials include drowsiness, reduced appetite, diarrhea and fatigue, plus dose-related liver enzyme rises.
  • Pets: never give a pet a product with THC or a human CBD product; if a pet eats a THC product, call your vet, an emergency clinic or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 (a fee may apply).
  • Camphor in Ice Hot is dangerous if swallowed; the roll-on guide gives Poison Help, 1-800-222-1222, for a child who swallows any.
  • Storage: keep bottles closed, cool, dark and out of reach of children and pets; the drop bottles are child-resistant.

This guide is not medical or veterinary advice; talk to a licensed clinician or your veterinarian about whether CBD is right for you or your animal.

Articles, podcast and editorial policy

Much of proofremedy.com is free reading. The sitemap listed about 150 articles on 19 October 2026, including a large set on CBD and pets, plus hub pages for learning, buying and product guides, a CBD glossary, a long FAQ page and a page on CBD for animals. Articles carry named bylines; the ones we read were by Sarah Miletich or Julie Mercer-Ingram.

The editorial policy says the company cites primary sources only (FDA, NIH, peer-reviewed research and professional bodies such as the American Veterinary Medical Association), will not claim its products treat medical conditions, and flags clinical review with a reviewer line under the byline. It also names its own conflict of interest: it sells the products its articles discuss. Some pages we saw carried "Veterinary review pending," which by the policy's own rule means that page has not yet been through clinical review.

The Proof of Wellness podcast, hosted by the two founders, launched in February 2026. Season 1 ran six episodes, on topics from personal journeys and product types to CBD basics, women's health, pets and cooking; the podcast page says Season 2 is on the way.

How it compares with other places to buy CBD

OptionWhat you typically getTypical trade-off
Proof onlineFour broad-spectrum products at $35, lab reports posted, owner's guides, 30-day guaranteeSmall range; no phone line; finished products not tested batch by batch
A large national CBD brand onlineMany strengths, formats and flavors; frequent salesTesting and refund terms vary widely; harder to know who formulates
A local natural grocer or wellness shopSee the product before you buy; staff to askLimited choice; batch reports may not be easy to match on the shelf
A smoke shop, gas station or convenience storeConvenienceLabels and testing can be hard to verify; some products contain intoxicating cannabinoids
A state-licensed dispensaryProducts regulated under state cannabis rules, often with THCOnly where legal; products may contain THC, which matters for drug tests
A prescription CBD medicineAn FDA-approved drug for specific seizure disordersPrescription only; not a wellness product

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

A good fit if you…

  • Want a short, simple lineup with plain ingredient lists
  • Prefer broad-spectrum CBD and want to see the lab reports before you buy
  • Want an oil for daytime and a separate CBD + CBN oil for evenings
  • Want a roll-on that keeps product off your hands
  • Want a CBD oil made for dogs and cats, with a weight chart
  • Like to read detailed, cautious guides from the people who make the product

Look elsewhere if you…

  • Live in Montana or outside the US
  • Want gummies, capsules, flavors or several strengths of the same product
  • Need a report for the exact finished batch in your hand
  • Want to talk to someone by phone before ordering
  • Specifically want full-spectrum products that contain THC
  • Need treatment for a medical condition: see a clinician, not a store

Questions to ask before you buy

  1. Which batch will I receive, and which hemp-input reports on the Lab Testing page match it?
  2. Has anything changed for Sleepy Drops (CBN) since the federal hemp changes scheduled for 11 December 2026?
  3. Which subscription cadences and discounts apply to the product I want?
  4. Does the opened-product guarantee apply to my order, or have I already bought this product before?
  5. Is the product sold at a store near me, if I would rather buy in person?
  6. For a pet: is my veterinarian comfortable with the amount on the chart, given my pet's medications?

How to get started

  1. Browse the full product list or the shop-by-benefit pages.
  2. Read the Tested Clean page and open the report for the product you want.
  3. Read the CBD Safety guide, and check with a pharmacist if you take medication.
  4. Decide between a one-time order and Subscribe & Save, keeping the $60 free-shipping line in mind.
  5. Questions: use the contact form or email info@proofremedy.com.
