What is PurePEG?
PurePEG is a chemical supplier focused on one family of molecules: polyethylene glycol, usually shortened to PEG. PEG is a water-soluble chain made of repeating ethylene glycol units. Chemists attach reactive groups to the ends of the chain and use it as a spacer, a "linker" between two other molecules, or a coating that changes how a particle behaves in water. PurePEG's customers are scientists who build those systems: protein and antibody conjugates, lipid nanoparticles, imaging probes, hydrogels and other materials.
On its About page the company describes itself as specializing in "high-purity PEG linkers and advanced bioconjugation reagents for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries," and says that since 2012 it has supplied researchers and manufacturers worldwide. It says its capabilities range "from milligram quantities to multi-kilogram production," so it pitches itself both to early research groups and to teams scaling up.
The business runs as an online store. Every product has its own page with structure details, item numbers, purity grades and prices, and you can add items to a cart and check out, or send a purchase order by email or fax. It also runs request forms for quotes, custom quantities, backordered products, technical documents and custom synthesis.
The site lists the research areas its products are used in: drug delivery, bioconjugation, nanomedicine, protein modification, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), targeted therapies, diagnostic tools, materials science, photodynamic therapy, and imaging and labeling. Those are fields its customers work in. PurePEG supplies the chemical building blocks, not finished medicines or treatments.
What does "monodisperse PEG" mean, and why does it matter?
This is the idea the whole business is built on, so it is worth a plain explanation. Ordinary PEG is made by a polymerization reaction that produces chains of many different lengths. A bottle labeled "PEG 2000" is a mixture whose average molecular weight is about 2,000. That kind of PEG is called polydisperse.
A monodisperse (or "discrete") PEG has one exact chain length, one molecular formula and one molecular weight. PurePEG's home page puts it this way: "While most PEG products are a mixture of different molecular weights, PurePEG supplies mono-disperse, single molecular weight molecules," made with what it calls its proprietary PurePEG technology. Its FAQ adds that monodisperse PEG "is a pure compound with a precise, discrete molecular weight and exact molecular formula," which allows "fine-tuning" of the properties of PEGylated products "through precise structural control."
For a researcher, the practical point is consistency: if every molecule in the vial is the same, the product is easier to characterize and batch-to-batch results are easier to compare. The company also sells a small polydisperse range (10 products in its "Polydisperse PEG" category when we checked) for work where an average weight is fine.
PurePEG's About page also states that it "synthesized the world's first monodisperse mPEG113." That is the company's own claim; we did not find an independent source to confirm it.
Is PurePEG legit?
Buyers often ask this before placing a first order with a chemical supplier they haven't used. Here is what can be checked from the company's own published information:
- A named legal entity and street address. The site identifies the seller as PurePEG, LLC at 7588 Trade Street, San Diego, CA 92121, on the contact page and on every product page.
- Several phone lines. A local number (1-858-455-9778), a toll-free number (1-888-331-8188) and a fax line (1-858-408-4567) are published, with customer service hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pacific.
- Written terms and conditions. A full terms page covers pricing, taxes, shipping, damage claims, returns, a restocking fee, payment terms, warranty limits and governing law (California). It also discloses the affiliate seller, Biomatrik Inc. of Jiaxing, China, and says product labels may carry PurePEG or Biomatrik logos.
- Published prices. Unlike many specialty chemical suppliers that only quote on request, PurePEG shows a price for each pack size and purity grade on the product page.
- Specific product data. Product pages list a CAS number where one exists, molecular formula, molecular weight, SMILES string, appearance and storage temperature, so you can check the structure before buying.
- Quality paperwork on request. The site has a technical data request form for a Certificate of Analysis (CoA), Safety Data Sheet (SDS) or BSE/TSE statement by item number and batch number.
- Customer comments. The About page shows eight short testimonials signed with first names only (for example "Micheal," "Naomi," "Priya"). These are chosen and displayed by the company. Product pages have a review section, but the one we checked showed no reviews.
We did not check a state business registry for this guide, and we did not find an independent review site with enough history to quote. If outside references matter for your purchasing approval, ask PurePEG for a CoA on the exact batch you would receive and for customer references in your field.
Who owns or runs PurePEG?
The website does not name an owner or chief executive. The About page has a "Message from the CEO" section, but it is unsigned. The same page refers to PurePEG's "parent company" in the context of confidential analytical information, without naming it. The terms and conditions name one affiliate: Biomatrik Inc., located in Jiaxing, China, which the terms describe as part of the "Seller" together with PurePEG LLC.
If you need named contacts for a supplier qualification file, ask customer service directly; the site does not publish a leadership or staff list.

The site also lists PROTAC linkers, multi-arm PEGs and non-PEG linkers as categories, and has separate landing pages for PEG lipids, PEG linkers, functionalized PEGs, click chemistry, PEG reagents, NHS ester PEGs, maleimide PEGs, DBCO and BCN reagents, cleavable linkers and photoreactive linkers.
PEG lipids. PurePEG's PEG lipid page lists DSPE-PEG, DMG-PEG and cholesterol-PEG as its main families, and its product grid shows items such as DMG-PEG12, DMG-PEG24, DMG-PEG36 and DMG-PEG45, DSPE-PEG with NHS, amine, carboxyl, azide and DBCO ends, and DSG-PEG variants. The company describes these as monodisperse versions with exact chain lengths.
ADC linkers and payload conjugates. The catalog includes peptide-based cleavable linker systems (Val-Cit, Val-Ala and others) and pre-built linker-payload compounds such as MC-Val-Cit-PAB-MMAF and Mal-PEG8-Val-Cit-PAB-MMAE. These are research reagents for building conjugates.
Functional groups. The functionalized PEG page groups its reactive PEGs into six families: NHS ester, maleimide, thiol, azide and alkyne (click-ready), hydrazide, and protected or orthogonal PEGs (Boc, Fmoc and similar). The home page filter lists dozens more specific groups.
A downloadable catalog. The catalog page offers a PDF "of Polyethylene Glycol Products for 2021." Treat that file as older than the live store; the product pages are the current reference for items and prices.
How to read PurePEG product names and item numbers
PurePEG's How to Order page explains the naming scheme, which makes the catalog much easier to search:
- mPEGn-X: one end is an inert methoxy group (the "m"), the other end is functional group X (for example -OH, -NH2, -COOH, NHS ester, -SH or maleimide).
- X-PEGn-X: homobifunctional, the same group at both ends.
- X-PEGn-Y: heterobifunctional, two different groups.
- PX-PEGn-X(Y): one group is protected by a protecting group such as Boc or Fmoc.
- Multi-Arm PEGn: branched products with 2, 3 or 4 arms.
- n is the number of ethylene glycol units. The company says its typical range is n = 3 to 12, and in some cases 16, 20, 24 or more. Separate categories cover longer chains such as PEG36, PEG44 and PEG45.
Item numbers. Each product has a base number and then a suffix for pack size and purity. On the mPEG6-OH page, for example, item 366406-1L is 1 g at "min. 98%" purity and 366406-1H is 1 g at "min. 99%"; the 5 g and 25 g packs follow the same L and H pattern. So "L" and "H" are two purity grades of the same compound, and the number is the pack size. Check the purity column on each product page, since not every product is sold in both grades or the same sizes.
You can search the store by CAS number, item number or keyword, filter by functional group, molecular weight or application, and compare products side by side.
How much do PurePEG products cost?
Prices are published on every product page, per item number. They vary widely with chain length, chemistry, pack size and purity grade. These examples were shown on the site on 19 October 2026:

| Fmoc-NH-PEG2-CH2COOH | $6 to $14 | A low-cost protected building block |
| mPEG2-CH2CH2COOH | $89 to $302 | Range across pack sizes and grades |
| DMG-PEG12 | $90 to $158 | Monodisperse PEG lipid |
| DMG-PEG24 | $220 to $400 | Monodisperse PEG lipid |
| DMG-PEG45 | $360 to $640 | Monodisperse PEG lipid, CAS 1397695-86-1 |

| Tz-Ph-CH2CONH-PEG-DMG, 2K | $1,287 | Tetrazine-functional PEG lipid |
A few points that affect what you actually pay:
- Taxes and duties are extra. The terms say prices exclude sales, value added and other taxes and duties. Tax-exempt buyers should send their exemption certificate with the purchase order.
- Shipping is extra. Prices are "FOB, San Diego, California," and freight, insurance, duty and special packaging are added to the invoice unless other arrangements are made. You can use your own FedEx account to avoid shipping and handling charges from PurePEG.
- Foam box fee. From 1 January 2026, the terms add a packaging fee for shipments that need foam boxes. The terms list $6.00 for a small foam box (6 × 4 × 3 inches) and $5.00 for a large one (8 × 6 × 4 inches), as published.
- Sale prices. Some items show a sale price on the home page grid. These change, so check the product page on the day you order.
- Volume pricing. Product pages invite buyers to send an inquiry "to help you find volume pricing or specialized discounts." Bulk prices are not published; ask for a quote.
- No minimum order. The terms say no minimum order quantity is required unless the catalog notes one.
- Prices can change without notice, according to both the terms and the ordering page.
How ordering works, step by step
- Find the product. Search by CAS number, item number or name, or browse by category, functional group or application. Use the structure, formula and molecular weight on the product page to confirm it is the compound you need.
- Pick the pack size and purity. The product page lists each item number with its quantity, purity and price, and an "Add to Cart" button for each.
- Check out. The ordering page says to verify items and quantities, enter shipping and billing addresses, choose a shipping method and payment, and submit. PurePEG says it sends an order confirmation once it receives the order.
- Or send a purchase order. The company accepts formal purchase orders by fax and email.
- Need a size or item that isn't listed? Product pages carry a "Request a Custom Quantity" form, and out-of-stock items have a "Request A Backorder Product" form.
- Track the order. The FAQs say to email orders@purepeg.com with your order number for status, and ar@purepeg.com to request an invoice.
The site also has a Quick Order tool and a past orders page for customers with an account.
Payment methods and terms
- Methods. The ordering page lists MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, wire transfer, direct deposit and check. The FAQs list ACH, wire transfers, checks and major credit cards.
- Net 30. Standard terms are Net 30 from the invoice date, and the FAQs say you can ask about extended terms.
- International orders may require payment in advance. Banking details appear on the invoice.
- Late payment. The terms describe a 30-day grace period after the due date, then a late charge of 3% per 30-day period (or the maximum California allows) on the unpaid balance. PurePEG may also hold shipments if payment is overdue.
- Changing terms. Requests to change payment terms must be made in writing before the invoice is due.
Shipping, lead times and storage
Carriers. FedEx is the company's carrier of choice. You can choose International Priority, Standard Overnight, 2-Day or local pick-up. Orders outside the United States ship by FedEx International Priority or DHL International, and the FAQs say UPS or DHL can be arranged on request.
Same-day cutoff. The ordering page and FAQs say in-stock orders placed before 3:00 p.m. Pacific typically ship the same day. The terms say orders typically ship Monday to Friday before 4 p.m. Pacific. If timing matters, order before 3 p.m. or call. Product pages also show an "Order Now for Next-Day Delivery" banner, with a note that delivery is scheduled for the next business day "subject to product availability, stock status, and transportation conditions." Weekend delivery can be requested at extra cost.
Lead times. According to the FAQs, in-stock items can ship within one week because each batch is quality-tested before shipment, and out-of-stock items typically take 3 to 5 weeks depending on synthesis complexity. The terms say custom reagent orders are typically produced in three to eight weeks.
Packaging. The FAQs describe vials sealed with parafilm, vacuum-packed and wrapped in bubble wrap, with ice packs for temperature-sensitive items.
Storage. The site gives storage advice in several places and the wording differs, so follow the label and the product page for your item. The mPEG6-OH page, for example, says "-18℃ for long term storage." The ordering page says storage below -20℃ is advised for long-term storage and that most products are stable at ambient temperature in transit. The FAQs say to protect vials from light, let frozen products reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation, and store products as solids rather than in solution.
Custom synthesis and bulk orders
Custom work is a large part of what PurePEG offers. The site has a "Customize Synthesis" form with a built-in structure drawing tool: you draw the molecule, export it as a SMILES string or image, and attach it to your inquiry along with the quantity you need (in grams). The FAQs say that if you can't find the structure you need, the team will "evaluate the feasibility of your request and, if possible, provide a systematic solution." The About page says it can also develop custom analytical methods and add testing for custom products.
For larger amounts, the company says it works "from milligram quantities to multi-kilogram production," and the ordering page asks bulk buyers to get in touch. Custom and bulk prices are not published; they are quoted per project.
Two terms are worth reading before you commission a custom product:
- Custom products are warranted only to match the quantity and contents on the label (or the specifications agreed when the order was taken), and the buyer is responsible for confirming the product suits its intended use.
- Special orders and custom products are not returnable unless defective.
Quality documents: CoA, SDS and analytical data
PurePEG says each batch is inspected by its Quality Department before shipment and that a Certificate of Analysis is issued for every product. The site's technical data form lets you request a CoA, SDS, BSE/TSE statement or other document by entering the SKU and batch number. The About page says a number of analytical methods are available for review, and that PurePEG and its parent company may share some information only under a confidentiality agreement.
The terms add a caution: technical data on the site and in the catalog come from the company's own data and literature references, and PurePEG "assumes no responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of such data." Labs should verify critical properties themselves.
Returns, damaged goods and warranties
- Damage or shortage: report within 72 hours of receipt, or the shipment is deemed accepted. PurePEG may issue a return authorization or ask you to document destruction of the goods.
- Return requests: notify customer service within 14 days of receipt. A return authorization is required, and not every request is granted (for example, buyer ordering errors or changes after shipment).
- Restocking fee: returns without a verified performance problem carry a 25% restocking fee or $25, whichever is greater.
- Shipping errors: if PurePEG ships the wrong item, the return is at its expense with no restocking fee.
- Return shipping: otherwise paid by the buyer.
- Warranty: products are warranted only to match the quantity and contents on the label at delivery. Liability is limited to repair, replacement or a refund of the purchase price.
- Loss in transit: shipments are FOB shipping point, and the terms say PurePEG is not liable for loss or damage during shipment.
- Governing law: California.
Research use only: what that means for buyers
PurePEG's terms say plainly: "PurePEG sells products for research use only and is not liable for misuse of any products." Many of the site's articles describe how PEG linkers and PEG lipids are used in drug delivery, ADCs and nanomedicine research. That describes the fields its customers work in. It does not mean the products are approved drugs or are meant for use in people.
Some pages on the site describe quality in regulatory terms. If your project needs a specific grade, GMP manufacture or regulatory documentation, ask PurePEG in writing what it can supply for that exact product, and get the answer on the quotation. This guide is not medical, scientific or regulatory advice.
How PurePEG compares with other ways to source PEG reagents
| Option | What you get | Typical trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| PurePEG | A specialist catalog of monodisperse PEGs, linkers and PEG lipids with published prices, two purity grades on many items, and custom synthesis | Narrower range outside PEG chemistry; custom and bulk pricing by quote only |
| A large general chemical distributor | One account for thousands of reagents across chemistry and biology | Specialty PEG items may be resold from other makers, with less product-specific support |
| A contract research or custom synthesis lab | A molecule made to your design, often with analytical work | Usually slower and more expensive for compounds that already exist in a catalog |
| Polydisperse PEG from a commodity supplier | Low-cost average-weight PEG | A mixture of chain lengths, harder to characterize exactly |
| Making it in your own lab | Full control of the route | Time, purification and analytics fall on your team |
