Overview

A Catholic school website speaks to parishioners, newcomers and the diocese at once

Catholic schools usually answer to more than one authority. A parish school works with its pastor and parish council, a diocesan school with the diocesan schools office, and both often follow diocesan rules on branding, social media and photos of children. The website has to satisfy all of them while still reading like a school that families want to join.

Families arrive with different starting points. Parishioners want to know about the parish tuition rate, sacrament preparation and Mass with the school community. Families from other faiths, or no faith, want to know whether they're welcome, what religion classes involve and how the school's Catholic identity shows up day to day. A site that answers both groups plainly widens your enrollment without diluting who you are.

This page is for Catholic school principals, presidents, advancement directors and the parish and diocesan staff who support them. For other private schools, see our private school page.

What makes this hard

What makes a Catholic school website different

A Catholic school sells an education and a community of faith at once, under rules set by people who aren't on your staff.

  • Tuition has tiers

Many Catholic schools charge different rates for registered parishioners, other Catholics and non-Catholic families, plus sibling discounts and parish or diocesan aid. A clear tuition page that explains each tier saves your office many calls.

  • Welcome must be explicit

Families who aren't Catholic often assume they won't be accepted. Saying who can enroll, and what faith formation involves for their child, removes the biggest silent objection.

  • The diocese has its own rules

Diocesan policies often cover logos, social media, photos of minors and what can be published. Building them into the site and the publishing process avoids awkward rework after launch.

  • School and parish share a name

The parish site and the school site often compete in search for the same name. Clear naming, linking and separate Google Business Profiles help families land on the right one.

  • Advancement matters

Many Catholic schools rely on giving, events and alumni. Donation, gala and alumni pages need to be easy to find and easy to use on a phone.

  • Accessibility still matters

Religious organizations and entities they control are exempt from ADA Title III, per ADA section 12187. That doesn't make an inaccessible site acceptable to families, and other obligations may apply, so check with your diocese and counsel.

How we work

How we build a Catholic school site that grows enrollment

We plan the site with the principal, and with the pastor or diocesan office where they need a say, so approvals are settled early. Then we organize it around the family's decision: who we are and what we believe, what a day looks like, who can enroll, what it costs with parish rates and aid, and how to visit.

Catholic identity is shown, not stated. Real photos of school Masses, service projects and classrooms (with photo consent), sacrament preparation explained in plain language, and a clear statement on families of other faiths do more than a mission statement alone. Our funnel content guide for nonprofits and churches covers the content side.

Search work starts local: the school's own Google Business Profile, clear separation from the parish's listing, and pages for "Catholic school near me" style searches in the towns you draw from. We also make sure the facts AI assistants repeat about your school are accurate, through answer engine optimization.

  • A plain-language page for families of other faiths on religion classes and school life
  • Faith life pages on Mass, sacrament preparation and service, with real photos

  • Advancement pages for giving, events and alumni
  • A separate Google Business Profile and clear links between the school and parish sites
  • Local SEO, AI visibility and monthly reporting on inquiries, tours and applications

The process

How the work runs

Four stages, with your pastor or diocesan office brought in where approvals are needed.

  1. Listen and review

We review your enrollment goals, tuition structure, diocesan policies and how families find you today.

  2. Site plan

We map pages to families' questions, agree on approvals, and settle how the school and parish sites relate.

  3. Design and build

We design and build the site and forms, then test accessibility and speed before launch.

  4. Grow and report

Each month we work on local search and content, and report on inquiries, tours and applications.

FAQ

Questions Catholic schools ask us

Should the school have its own website or live on the parish site?

Usually its own site, linked clearly to and from the parish. Families searching for a school expect a school website, and admissions, tuition and calendars need more room than a parish site can give. Some parishes prefer a shared domain, which can also work if the school section is well organized.

How do we explain tuition with parish rates?

With a single tuition page that lists each rate, explains how a family qualifies for the parish rate, and links to aid. Keep the qualification rules exactly as your parish or diocese sets them.

Can families who aren't Catholic enroll?

That is your school's and diocese's decision. Whatever the answer, the site should say it clearly, because families who aren't Catholic often assume they can't apply.

Does the ADA apply to our website?

Title III of the ADA exempts religious organizations and entities they control. Other obligations can still apply, for example through funding programs or state law, so check with your diocese and counsel. We build to WCAG 2.1 AA either way, because families with disabilities use your site.

Can we post photos of students at Mass and events?

Yes, within your diocese's policy and the permissions families have given. We build a consent check into the publishing process.

What does it cost?

Our pricing page lists our monthly SEO plans and lets you estimate a custom website. Request a proposal above for a quote based on your school's size and enrollment goals.
