Overview

At a smaller college, students choose the program first and the college second

Most people who reach a community, career or small private college website didn't search for the college. They searched for a program: nursing prerequisites, welding certificate, dental hygiene, an evening business degree, an associate degree that transfers. Many are adults working around a job and family. They want the program's length, schedule, cost, start dates, admission requirements and what it leads to, and they want it on one page.

That makes program pages the heart of a college website. Each one has to rank for the program's name in your area, answer the questions that decide enrollment, and lead straight to the next step: request information, talk to an advisor, or apply. A program page that just lists courses loses students to the next college in the results.

This page is for admissions, enrollment and marketing staff at smaller colleges. Large institutions with many publishers should see our university page, and enrollment marketing across many programs is covered on our higher education page.

What makes this hard

What makes marketing a smaller college different

Small teams, many programs, students who decide fast and costs that are hard to explain.

  • Every program is its own search

Students search for programs by name and place. Each program needs its own page with the facts that decide enrollment, not a line in a catalog.

  • Cost is confusing

Tuition, fees, aid and net price are hard for students to compare. Title IV colleges that enroll first-time full-time undergraduates must post a net price calculator, per the Department of Education's net price calculator page. Make it easy to find.

  • Start dates drive decisions

Many programs have several starts a year, or rolling admission. Showing the next start date and deadline near the top of each program page prompts action.

  • Adult learners need specifics

Working adults want evening, weekend and online options, credit for prior learning and how long it will really take. Vague pages lose them.

  • Public colleges are covered by Title II

The DOJ lists community colleges and public universities as covered by the ADA Title II web rule, which names WCAG 2.1 AA. Dates are April 26, 2027 or April 26, 2028 depending on population, per the Justice Department's fact sheet.

  • Outcomes must be accurate

Job placement, licensure pass rates and transfer claims are powerful, but only if they're current, sourced and stated exactly as your institution reports them.

How we work

How we build a college site that turns program searches into applications

We build one strong page per program with the same structure: who it's for, schedule and format, length, cost and aid, start dates, requirements, what it leads to, and a clear next step. Program pages then link to each other by career area, so students who aren't sure yet can browse by interest.

Search work targets program-plus-place searches and the questions students ask before applying. We make program facts clear for AI assistants through structured data and answer engine optimization, and keep a complete Google Business Profile for each campus.

The application path gets the same care: fewer steps, clear instructions, and tracking that shows which programs and pages produce inquiries and applications. Our conversion work focuses on the request-information and apply forms.

The process

How the work runs

Four stages, so program facts and admissions steps are settled before anyone designs a page.

  1. Enrollment review

We look at which programs need students, where inquiries come from and where applicants drop off.

  2. Program plan

We agree on the program page structure and the facts each page must state, with your academic and financial aid staff.

  3. Design and build

We design and build the site and forms, migrate content and test accessibility before launch.

  4. Grow and report

Each month we work on search, content and AI visibility, and report on inquiries and applications by program.

FAQ

Questions colleges ask us

How does SEO help a college?

It puts your programs in front of students searching for them by name and area, and helps AI assistants describe them accurately. For smaller colleges, program pages and local search usually bring the most qualified inquiries.

What should a program page include?

Who it's for, schedule and format, length, cost and aid, start dates, admission requirements, what it leads to, and a clear next step. Outcomes data should be current and match what your institution reports.

Do we need a net price calculator?

Colleges that take part in federal student aid programs and enroll first-time, full-time undergraduates are required to post one, according to the Department of Education. We make sure it's easy to find from cost and program pages.

Is our college covered by the ADA Title II web rule?

Public colleges are. After the April 2026 extension, the dates are April 26, 2027 or April 26, 2028 depending on the population of the government entity, so check the DOJ's guidance and your counsel. Private colleges aren't covered by Title II, but we build to WCAG 2.1 AA for every site.

How is this different from your university page?

This page is for smaller colleges where the admissions office drives the site. Our university page covers large institutions with many departments publishing at once.

What does it cost?

Our pricing page lists our monthly SEO plans and lets you estimate a custom website. Request a proposal above for a quote based on the number of programs and campuses.

Wondering what this costs? Every service has published pricing — no discovery call required to see it.
