Overview

Construction runs on two places that rarely talk: the job site and the office

A superintendent logs progress on a phone in a basement with no signal. A project manager re-enters the change order into the estimate, then into accounting. A homeowner emails to ask what was done this week. The owner finds out the job lost money when the books close. Most contractors already pay for project management and accounting software; the costly gaps are the handoffs between them and the steps that still happen on paper or in text messages.

We build focused tools for those gaps: field apps that work offline, change-order and job-costing workflows, client and subcontractor portals, and integrations that move data between the systems you already own instead of replacing them.

This page is about software. For contractor websites and lead generation, see our construction and home improvement marketing page.

What makes this hard

What makes construction software different

Construction data starts in the field, changes daily and ends up in contracts, payroll and invoices. Software has to work where the crew is and stay accurate all the way to the office.

  • The job site has no signal

Daily logs, photos and inspections are captured in basements, on rooftops and in rural lots. Field tools must work offline and sync safely later, without overwriting someone else's update.

  • Change orders are where margin goes

Work done before a change order is signed is hard to bill. A tool that captures the change, prices it and gets the client's approval on site protects more profit than most features.

  • Job costing needs field data

Hours, materials and equipment have to reach accounting by job and cost code while the job is still running, or the owner learns about overruns too late to act.

  • Public work brings payroll rules

On federally funded jobs, contractors must keep detailed payroll records and submit weekly certified payrolls under 29 CFR 5.5. Time tracking built for that saves the office a weekly scramble.

  • Every party sees a different slice

Owners, architects, subcontractors and homeowners each need some documents and not others. Permissions have to be designed per project, not bolted on.

How we work

How we build construction software crews actually use

We go to a job site. Watching how a superintendent fills out a daily log or how a foreman tracks hours tells us more than any requirements document. Field screens get big buttons, few fields and photos by default, because gloves and sunlight are real constraints.

We connect rather than replace. If you run an estimating tool, a project management platform and accounting software, we use their published APIs to move cost codes, change orders and hours between them, and build only the missing piece. Data is cleaned and mapped first, because years of inconsistent job numbers break every integration.

We also build client-facing pieces: a portal where a homeowner sees progress photos, approves selections and pays invoices, so your project managers answer fewer emails. If you need the marketing site too, our website development team can build both.

The process

How the work runs

Four stages, so field reality and your existing systems shape the design before code is written.

  1. Site and office review

We visit a job, sit with the office team and map how logs, changes, hours and invoices move today.

  2. Scope and design

We agree the first release and test field screens with the people who will use them in real conditions.

  3. Build and pilot

We build in short releases and pilot on one or two active jobs before rolling out company-wide.

  4. Roll out and support

We train crews and office staff, monitor syncs and integrations, and extend the tool as you learn what helps.

FAQ

Questions contractors ask about custom software

We already pay for project management software. Why build anything?

Often you shouldn't. Custom work makes sense for the gaps: a step your platform doesn't handle, a portal clients will actually use, or getting data between your platform and accounting without re-typing. We look for configuration first.

Will the field app work without signal?

Yes. We design field tools to save everything on the device and sync when a connection returns, with rules for handling two people editing the same record.

Can you connect our estimating and accounting software?

Usually, if both have published APIs or import formats. We confirm what each system allows during discovery and map cost codes and job numbers before building.

Do you build certified payroll reports?

We can build time tracking that captures what certified payroll requires and produce reports for your payroll team. Your payroll provider or compliance advisor should confirm the final filings.

How long does it take?

A focused field app or integration can take a few weeks; a connected client portal and back-office tools take a few months. You get a timeline after discovery.

What does custom software cost?

It depends on scope, integrations and how much of the work is new versus connecting what you already have. Our pricing page lists our plans and lets you estimate a custom build. Request a proposal above and we will quote from your actual requirements.

Wondering what this costs? Every service has published pricing — no discovery call required to see it.
