This article is part of our MCP Guide: what the Model Context Protocol is, how to use it safely, and how to choose servers, tools and help. Want a second opinion on your setup? Request a free MCP readiness review.
The best MCP servers for ecommerce in 2026 are the official ones published by the platforms you already use. Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, Square, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Adyen and Klaviyo all document their own Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers as of October 2026.
An MCP server lets an AI app such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor read and act on your store data through a standard connection. For a store, that can mean looking up orders, creating invoices, issuing refunds or building a cart.
Every entry here is an official server from the vendor itself. We checked each one against the vendor's docs on 28 October 2026. We did not connect them to a live store for this article.
Key Takeaways
- All nine servers on this list are official, published by the platform itself rather than by the community.
- Stripe, PayPal, Square, Wix and Klaviyo offer hosted (remote) servers, so there is nothing to install.
- Some servers are for shoppers, not store owners: Shopify's Catalog and Checkout tools and BigCommerce's storefront tools let AI agents shop your store.
- WooCommerce and Square label their MCP features as preview or beta, so test before you rely on them.
- None of the MCP docs we checked list a separate fee for the server; your normal platform account and fees apply.
- Write access to payments and orders is risky, so look for human confirmation, read-only modes and sandbox testing.
How we chose
We used the MCP Guide's standard listicle criteria:
- Official and live. The server must be published by the platform and documented on its own developer site. We left out community servers, because store and payment data deserves a vendor-supported connection.
- Clear pricing. The platform must publish its pricing, or the server must be free.
- Security basics. The docs must describe authentication, scopes, sandbox options or logging.
The order below is not a ranking. For the bigger picture, read MCP for ecommerce first.

1. Shopify: official MCP servers for developers and shopping agents
What it is. Shopify runs several MCP servers. The Dev MCP server connects coding tools to Shopify's developer resources, runs locally and needs no authentication. For shopping, Shopify's storefront MCP docs describe a store endpoint with catalog, cart, checkout and "Ask" tools for policy questions.
Best for: Shopify app developers, and merchants who want AI shopping agents to find and buy their products.
Pricing: The Dev MCP server is a free npm package. Shopify plans start at $29 per month billed yearly ($39 monthly), with Grow at $79 and Advanced at $299 billed yearly, per Shopify's pricing page.
Pros:
- The Dev MCP server installs with one command in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Codex.
- Catalog and cart tools let AI agents search products and build carts on your store.
- Checkout MCP requires every request to be authenticated or signed.
Cons:
- Shopify removed the older catalog and cart tools from its first storefront endpoint, so older tutorials may be out of date.
- The Dev MCP server does not access store data; store management runs through Shopify CLI instead.
Checked against: Shopify developer docs on 28 October 2026.
2. Stripe: payments, billing and refunds through MCP
What it is. Stripe's MCP server is hosted at mcp.stripe.com. It lets AI agents search Stripe's docs and call much of the Stripe API, including customers, invoices, subscriptions, refunds, products, prices and payment links.
Best for: Online stores and subscription businesses that run payments on Stripe.
Pricing: Stripe's MCP docs list no separate fee for the server. Your normal Stripe account fees apply.
Pros:
- Stripe requires human confirmation before certain write actions, such as refunds and outbound payments.
- Admins can turn MCP access on or off for the whole team, separately for live mode and sandboxes.
- OAuth sessions can be reviewed and revoked from the Dashboard.
Cons:
- From December 2026, Stripe MCP will stop accepting full-access secret keys and untagged restricted keys, so API-key setups must move to agent API keys or OAuth by 30 November 2026.
- Broad write access means you need tool approval turned on in your AI app, as Stripe itself recommends.
Checked against: Stripe docs on 28 October 2026.
3. PayPal: invoices, disputes and shipment tracking
What it is. PayPal "built an MCP server that lets merchants use natural language with their favorite MCP clients," per its developer docs. You can run it locally with Node.js or use PayPal's hosted server. PayPal's tool catalog covers catalog, disputes, invoices, payments, reporting, shipment tracking and subscriptions.
Best for: Merchants who invoice customers or manage disputes and shipping through PayPal.
Pricing: PayPal's MCP docs list no separate fee for the server. Your normal PayPal account fees apply.
Pros:
- Separate sandbox and production endpoints make safe testing easy.
- The hosted server supports both Streamable HTTP and SSE.
- The tool set covers back-office jobs such as invoice reminders and shipment tracking.
Cons:
- The hosted server's cart and checkout tools are limited to gift cards for now.
- The remote server uses your PayPal client ID and secret, so protect them carefully.
Checked against: PayPal developer docs on 28 October 2026.
4. Square: the full Square API for sellers
What it is. Square's MCP server connects AI assistants to the Square API, covering customers, orders, items and more. Square recommends its hosted server, which uses OAuth sign-in with granular permissions. A local version is also available.
Best for: Sellers who run in-person and online sales on Square.
Pricing: Square's MCP docs list no fee for the server. Your normal Square account fees apply.
Pros:
- The local server has a
DISALLOW_WRITESsetting for read-only use. - The local server can use a Sandbox account for testing.
- The source code is public on GitHub.
Cons:
- The server is in beta, and Square advises testing prompts in Sandbox first.
- The hosted server only accesses production data.
Checked against: Square developer docs on 28 October 2026.
5. WooCommerce: products and orders on WordPress
What it is. WooCommerce registers its product and order operations through the WordPress Abilities API, and a separate MCP Adapter plugin exposes them to AI clients. WooCommerce's docs list product search, create, update and delete, plus order search, status updates and notes.
Best for: Stores built on WordPress and WooCommerce.
Pricing: Free. The MCP Adapter is a separate plugin you install; WooCommerce does not bundle it.
Pros:
- Each ability enforces its own WordPress permission check.
- Remote access uses WordPress Application Passwords, which you can revoke.
- Local stdio connections through WP-CLI need no Application Password.
Cons:
- WooCommerce labels the feature a developer preview, so APIs "may change in future releases."
- Order data can expose customer names, emails and addresses, so access needs a minimal-permission user.
Checked against: WooCommerce developer docs on 28 October 2026.
6. BigCommerce: storefront tools for AI shopping agents
What it is. "The BigCommerce MCP server lets AI agents interact with a BigCommerce storefront using purpose-built commerce tools," per BigCommerce's docs. Each storefront gets its own MCP URL, with tool sets for B2C and B2B stores.
Best for: Brands that want AI shopping agents to browse, build carts and check out on their storefront.
Pricing: BigCommerce's MCP docs list no separate fee. A store owner turns it on in the control panel.
Pros:
- B2B buyers get shopping list and quote tools, gated by Buyer Portal permissions.
- Logged-in shoppers are linked through a session sync token.
- Only a store owner can enable the server.
Cons:
- This is a storefront server for shoppers, not a back-office tool for managing orders.
- The server can take up to 10 minutes to become available after you turn it on.
Checked against: BigCommerce docs on 28 October 2026.
7. Wix: site and store APIs through one server
What it is. The Wix MCP lets AI clients search Wix docs, write code for Wix and make API calls on Wix sites. Its ExecuteWixAPI tool is the default way to call business-data APIs such as Stores, Bookings and CMS.
Best for: Small businesses that run their store or bookings on Wix.
Pricing: The Wix MCP docs list no separate fee for the server.
Pros:
- A hosted server at mcp.wix.com works with Claude, Cursor, Copilot and Windsurf (now Devin Desktop).
- API-key login is available for automation tools like n8n.
- One server covers sites, stores, bookings and media uploads.
Cons:
- Many tools are developer-focused, such as documentation search and schema lookups.
- A broad tool set means you should limit which tools your AI app can call.
Checked against: Wix developer docs on 28 October 2026.
8. Adyen: payments APIs for larger merchants
What it is. Adyen's MCP server runs locally and lets you work with Adyen's APIs in natural language. It currently supports the Checkout API and the Management API.
Best for: Larger merchants and payments teams already using Adyen.
Pricing: Adyen's MCP docs list no separate fee for the server.
Pros:
- Uses an Adyen API key with specific roles, so you control what it can reach.
- Connects to your live account using your live URL prefix from the Customer Area.
- The endpoint list is published on GitHub.
Cons:
- Local only; the docs describe no hosted option.
- Adyen says it is still "adding more APIs and endpoints," so coverage is limited.
Checked against: Adyen docs on 28 October 2026.
9. Klaviyo: email and SMS marketing data
What it is. Klaviyo's MCP server "enables AI clients to interact with your Klaviyo data." Its tools cover jobs such as campaign creation and flow performance reporting.
Best for: Ecommerce marketing teams that run email and SMS on Klaviyo.
Pricing: Klaviyo's MCP docs list no separate fee for the server.
Pros:
- Klaviyo recommends a hosted server, with a local option too.
- The docs label which tools are read-only.
- Useful for reporting on flows and campaigns without exporting data.
Cons:
- The overview page we checked does not describe authentication, so read the setup docs before connecting.
- It covers marketing data, not orders or payments.
Checked against: Klaviyo developer docs on 28 October 2026.
What to check before you connect a store
Start read-only. Square's local server has a read-only switch, and Stripe asks a human to confirm refunds. Use sandbox or test environments where the vendor offers them.
Next, decide which AI app will connect. Our list of the best MCP clients compares admin controls and OAuth support. Then read MCP security risks and MCP authentication and OAuth before you give an agent payment access.
If you also need your books connected, see the best MCP accounting tools. If no official server covers your stack, our MCP development service can scope a custom one.

Frequently asked questions
Does Shopify have an official MCP server?
Yes. Shopify publishes a Dev MCP server for developers and storefront MCP endpoints with catalog, cart, checkout and policy-question tools. The Dev MCP server works with developer resources rather than store data, per Shopify's docs.
Is there an MCP server for WooCommerce?
Yes. WooCommerce exposes product and order operations through the WordPress Abilities API, and the MCP Adapter plugin makes them available to AI clients. WooCommerce labels it a developer preview as of October 2026.
Can an AI agent issue refunds through MCP?
Some servers allow it. Stripe's server can create refunds but requires a human to confirm certain write actions, such as refunds, through a link. Turn on tool approval in your AI app as well.
Do ecommerce MCP servers cost extra?
None of the MCP docs we checked list a separate fee for the server itself. You still pay your normal platform plan and transaction fees, plus whatever your AI app costs.
Should I use a community MCP server for my store?
We left community servers out of this list. Store and payment data is sensitive, and official servers come with vendor support and documented security. If you do use a community server, review its code and give it read-only credentials.
What is the difference between a storefront MCP server and an admin one?
A storefront server lets AI shopping agents browse and buy from your store, like a customer. An admin server lets your own team manage products, orders or payments. BigCommerce's server is a storefront type, while Stripe's and Square's act on your business account.
