The Docusign MCP server lets AI assistants create and send envelopes, check signing status, send reminders, search agreements and start workflows. Docusign hosts it with separate demo and production endpoints and offers official connectors for production use.

Key Takeaways
- Docusign hosts the server at
https://mcp.docusign.com/mcp(production) andhttps://mcp-d.docusign.com/mcp(demo), over Streamable HTTP. - Docusign recommends official connectors for production accounts and custom connectors for testing with a developer (demo) account.
- Custom connectors use OAuth access tokens from the Confidential Authorization Code Grant or the JWT Grant.

- Docusign's community post announced general availability for 30 September 2026.

What it can do
Docusign's developer guide groups tools by API. It says production connectors currently support seven API groups, while a developer account can explore more.
- eSignature. Create envelopes (including
createEnvelopeWithDocuments, which opens a file upload widget), get envelope status and recipients, search envelopes, list templates, update or void envelopes, and send reminders.resolveEnvelopeSendMethodreturns step-by-step instructions for sending an envelope. - Agreement Manager (needs IAM). Retrieve agreements and their details. Helper skills
getAgreementFilterSkillandgetEnvelopeVsAgreementSkillguide the AI before it queries. - Workflow Builder (needs IAM). List workflows, start, pause, resume or cancel workflow instances.
- CLM. Retrieve agreements and workflow definitions, plus
startClmWorkflowandstopClmWorkflow. Some CLM tools need the CLM and IAM integration. - Data Verification (demo only).
assessTemplatesForDV,planTemplateDataVerification,cloneDVEnabledTemplates,discoverDVAppsandinstallDVApps. - Developer helpers.
searchDocusignDocs,generateAccessToken,getUserInfoandsuggestBestPractices. Docusign marksgenerateAccessToken,searchDocusignDocsandsuggestBestPracticesas demo only.
Docusign's guide marks each tool as available in demo, production or both. Check that column before you plan a production workflow.
How to connect it
Docusign describes two routes:
| Official connector | Custom connector | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Production use | Testing and exploration |
| Account | Production | Demo (recommended) |
| Setup | Guided, pre-built | Manual configuration |
| Support | Officially supported | Community or self-managed |
Docusign lists setup guides for Claude, GitHub Copilot, Google Gemini Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot Studio, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Slackbot. Not every assistant has both connector types.
For a custom connector, use these URLs:
Demo: https://mcp-d.docusign.com/mcp
Production: https://mcp.docusign.com/mcp
You need a valid OAuth access token. Docusign says the server supports tokens from the Confidential Authorization Code Grant, which refreshes automatically, and the JWT Grant, whose tokens expire after 8 hours. A custom connector on a production account also needs your integration key allow-listed through a Docusign request form. Docusign advises against custom connectors on production accounts.
Security notes
- User permissions. Docusign's GA announcement lists enforced OAuth and role-based access control, and says agents can only act on envelopes and documents the user can view.
- Sending is real. Envelope tools send legal documents to real signers. Keep your client's approval prompts on, and review recipients before each send.
- Voiding and updates. Docusign's update tool can void envelopes and change emails. Treat it as destructive.
- Test in demo. Docusign warns that a custom connector pointed at production can consume your production API quota during testing.
- Audit differences. Docusign notes that official and custom connector actions may be logged differently in its audit trail, which matters for compliance.
- Account controls. Users in several accounts can disable MCP access per account in the admin screen.
Contracts are sensitive data, and an AI can be tricked by text in a document. Read MCP data exfiltration, MCP prompt injection and the MCP Security Center.
Alternatives
- HubSpot MCP server: manages quotes (beta) and deals in the CRM.
- Salesforce MCP server: CRM records and custom Flows as tools.
