Best MCP Servers for Customer Support Teams in 2026

This list is part of our best-of MCP lists, within The MCP Guide. Entries are checked against each vendor's own pages; inclusion is editorial and not paid.

The best MCP servers for customer support in 2026 are the official servers from help desk and inbox vendors: Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Front and HubSpot for customer-facing support, plus Atlassian for Jira Service Management and Slack for internal escalations. They let an AI assistant search tickets, summarize conversations and, in some cases, reply to customers.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that connects AI apps such as Claude and ChatGPT to outside software. For a support team, that means asking "What did this customer report last month?" or "Draft a help article from these five tickets" without opening the help desk.

We checked every entry against the vendor's own site or docs on 28 October 2026. We did not test these products.

Key Takeaways

  • Write access varies widely. Help Scout is read-only for new connections, Intercom writes only notes and article drafts, and Front can send replies with the right scope.
  • Freshdesk is the only entry that sells MCP usage directly: each plan includes a yearly allowance of MCP actions, and extra packs cost $15 per 1,000 actions.
  • Most servers act as the signed-in agent, so the AI can see only the inboxes and tickets that person can see.
  • Zendesk and Gorgias did not make the list: we could not find a live, official, general-purpose MCP server for either on their own sites.
  • Support data is full of personal information and untrusted customer text, so prompt injection is a real risk. Keep sending and bulk updates behind human approval.

How we chose

We used the MCP Guide's standard listicle criteria:

  • Live and public. The vendor must publish and document its own MCP server. We opened every page on 28 October 2026.
  • Clear pricing. Prices come only from the vendor's official pricing page.
  • Security basics. The docs must describe sign-in, scopes or permissions.

We dropped Zendesk, because the only Zendesk MCP server we found was a partner app on its marketplace, not Zendesk's own. Gorgias publishes an MCP server for its developer docs, not for helpdesk data. Zoho Desk had only third-party servers. The order below is not a ranking. More lists live on the MCP Guide's best-of hub.

1. Intercom: conversations, contacts and Help Center

What it is. Intercom's MCP server lets an AI app search and read conversations, contacts, companies and Help Center articles. Its few write tools add internal notes and create or update articles, which start as drafts. Intercom says the server is available for US and EU hosted workspaces; "AU hosted workspaces are not yet supported."

Best for: Support teams that run chat and email support in Intercom and want AI help with research and knowledge base work.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Intercom's pricing page lists Essential at $29 per seat per month ($19 for new customers), Advanced at $85 and Expert at $132, plus $0.99 per Fin outcome. Fin Operator tools need a Fin Operator subscription.

Pros:

  • Mostly read tools, so the risk of a bad customer-facing action is low.
  • New articles are created as drafts by default.
  • OAuth is recommended, and separate US and EU URLs help with data residency.

Cons:

  • The legacy SSE endpoint is deprecated, so older setups need updating.
  • Fin Operator's apply_proposals tool changes live workspace settings, per our profile.

2. Freshdesk: tickets with a metered allowance

What it is. Freshworks' Freshdesk MCP integration exposes capabilities such as creating tickets through Freshdesk's public APIs. Freshworks says it became "generally available" on 10 September 2026. Each account gets its own endpoint.

Best for: Ticket-based help desks that want AI to triage, update and answer tickets.

Pricing: Freshdesk's pricing page lists Growth at $19, Pro at $55 and Enterprise at $89 per agent per month, billed annually, and an add-on of $15 per 1,000 MCP actions. Freshworks' docs list included MCP actions per account per year: 1,200 on Growth, 6,000 on Pro and 12,000 on Enterprise, with rate limits of 25, 50 and 100 actions per minute.

Pros:

  • Clear, published usage limits and rate limits.
  • Covers tickets, contacts, agents, groups and knowledge base articles.
  • Generally available, not beta.

Cons:

  • Freshworks says authentication is "by using an API key only," so there is no per-user OAuth.
  • Included action allowances are small on Growth, so busy teams will buy add-ons.

3. Help Scout: read-only search and reports

What it is. Help Scout's MCP connector lets an AI pull up conversations, customer details, mailbox data and Docs content. Help Scout says "Access is read-only for new connections," and each team member connects with their own credentials.

Best for: Small support teams that want summaries and reporting without risking changes.

Pricing: The integration needs API access, which Help Scout includes on Standard, Plus and Pro. Report tools need Plus or Pro. Help Scout's pricing page lists Standard at $25, Plus at $45 and Pro at $75 per user per month, with a discount for annual billing.

Pros:

  • Read-only by default, which makes it a low-risk pilot.
  • Per-user sign-in limits the AI to each person's access.
  • Includes company, productivity and happiness reports.

Cons:

  • The AI cannot reply or update conversations on new connections.
  • Report tools are not on Standard.

Checked against: Help Scout docs on 28 October 2026. Full profile: Help Scout MCP server.

4. Front: shared inboxes with send controls

What it is. Front's MCP server lets agents search and read conversations, draft and send replies, comment, tag, assign and archive. Front says agents "authenticate as a specific Front user," and "every tool call attributes to a specific Front teammate." Scopes are read, write and send.

Best for: Teams that handle support, operations or account management through shared email inboxes.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Front's pricing page lists Starter at $25 per seat per month (up to 10 seats), Professional at $65 and Enterprise at $105, billed annually. Our profile notes tool-call rate limits vary by plan.

Pros:

  • A separate send scope lets you allow drafts without allowing sends.
  • Every action is tied to a named teammate for accountability.
  • If a teammate can't see an inbox, Front says the agent can't either.

Cons:

  • Uses a confidential OAuth client without Dynamic Client Registration, so some clients won't connect.
  • Sending replies is customer-facing, so mistakes are visible.

Checked against: Front developer docs on 28 October 2026. Full profile: Front MCP server.

5. HubSpot: tickets and conversations next to the CRM

What it is. HubSpot's remote MCP server reads CRM records including tickets, plus conversation messages and threads from live chat, team email, WhatsApp, SMS, Facebook Messenger and custom channels. It can also write CRM records and activities.

Best for: Teams that run sales and support on HubSpot and want ticket context next to deal and contact data.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. HubSpot offers free CRM tools, and paid tiers are listed on HubSpot's pricing pages. Some MCP tools depend on your Hub and tier.

Pros:

  • Support agents see ticket, contact and deal data in one place.
  • Users sign in with their own HubSpot permissions.
  • HubSpot's guide says write tools require user confirmation.

Cons:

  • If Sensitive Data is on, HubSpot blocks conversation data in the MCP server.
  • Conversations access has extra restrictions based on inbox setup.

Checked against: HubSpot developer docs on 28 October 2026. Full profile: HubSpot MCP server.

6. Atlassian: Jira Service Management for internal and IT support

What it is. Atlassian's MCP server lets you "Summarize and search Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Bitbucket" and more. Atlassian hosts it, and it respects each user's existing permissions. Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 or an API token.

Best for: IT help desks and internal service teams that run requests in Jira Service Management and keep answers in Confluence.

Pricing: Atlassian says MCP calls consume Rovo credits from "the same shared pool used by Rovo Chat, Studio, Agents, and the Teamwork Graph." Usage depends on how much data is pulled and how complex the request is.

Pros:

  • One connection covers service requests and the knowledge base.
  • Our profile notes delete and manage tools are off by default.
  • Generally available, with an open repository of plugins and skills.

Cons:

  • Credit use varies by request, which makes costs hard to predict.
  • It is built for Atlassian work, not for customer-facing chat or email.

Checked against: Atlassian support docs on 28 October 2026. Full profile: Atlassian MCP server.

7. Slack: internal escalations and shared channels

What it is. The Slack MCP server lets apps "search channels, send messages, and perform other Slack actions through MCP clients." Slack hosts it at https://mcp.slack.com/mcp. Slack says "Workspace admins can approve and manage all MCP client integrations."

Best for: Support teams that escalate to engineering in Slack or support customers in shared channels.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Slack's pricing page lists Free at $0, Pro at $8.75 per user per month ($7.25 annually) and Business+ at $18 ($15 annually).

Pros:

  • Admin approval for every MCP client integration.
  • Search across channels helps find past fixes fast.
  • Can create canvases for incident or escalation summaries.

Cons:

  • It can send messages as you, so approvals matter.
  • Slack is not a ticketing system, so it complements a help desk rather than replacing one.

Guardrails for support data

Support tickets contain names, emails, order details and sometimes health or payment data. They also contain text written by strangers. That makes them a common path for prompt injection, where hidden instructions in a ticket try to steer the AI.

  • Start with read-only tools. Help Scout and Intercom are mostly read-only. Use them for summaries first.
  • Separate drafting from sending. Front's send scope is a model to copy: let the AI draft, let a person send.
  • Limit cross-server flows. Don't let one prompt read tickets and post to a public channel in one go. See our guide to cross-server data leakage.
  • Watch usage. Freshdesk counts actions and Atlassian counts credits.

Next step

If your help desk isn't on this list, or you need an AI to draft replies under strict rules, a custom server may fit better. Our MCP development team builds servers with read-only defaults, approval steps and audit logs. For a wider view, see the best MCP integration platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI answer customers directly through MCP?

Some servers allow it. Front can send replies with the send scope, and Freshdesk can reply to customers. Most teams should let the AI draft and keep a human on send, at least at first.

Does Zendesk have an official MCP server?

We could not find one on Zendesk's own site on 28 October 2026. The Zendesk MCP server we found was a partner-built marketplace app, so it is not listed here. Check Zendesk's docs again before you decide.

Which support MCP server is safest to start with?

Help Scout is read-only for new connections, which makes it a low-risk first step. Intercom is also mostly read-only, with a few write tools for internal notes and article drafts.

Do support MCP servers cost extra?

Most vendors list no separate fee. Freshdesk is different: plans include a yearly allowance of MCP actions, and extra actions cost $15 per 1,000. Atlassian charges Rovo credits for MCP calls.

How do I stop the AI from leaking customer data?

Use per-user sign-in, limit which inboxes each person can see, and avoid connecting public-facing tools in the same session. Review the help desk's audit history after the first weeks of use.
