Best MCP Servers for Design in 2026

This list is part of our best-of MCP lists, within The MCP Guide. Entries are checked against each vendor's own pages; inclusion is editorial and not paid.

The best MCP servers for design in 2026 are Figma, Canva, Adobe's creativity connector, Miro, Sketch, Penpot, Webflow and Wix. They let an AI assistant read design files and turn them into code, create graphics from a prompt, sketch diagrams on a whiteboard or build pages on a live website.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that connects AI apps such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex to outside tools. In design, MCP matters most at handoff: a coding agent that can read real components and variables builds closer to the design than one guessing from a screenshot.

We checked every entry against the vendor's own site or docs on 28 October 2026. We did not test these products.

Key Takeaways

  • Figma's server is the standard for design-to-code. Its write-to-canvas tools are "free during the beta period" and will later become a usage-based paid feature.
  • Penpot is the open-source option, with remote, local and plugin connection modes, and a free Professional plan.
  • Sketch's server is "local-only" and needs the Mac app from sketch.com, not the Mac App Store version.
  • Adobe's connector reaches more than 50 tools across Photoshop, Illustrator, Express and other Creative Cloud apps from inside Claude.
  • Webflow and Wix servers can change live websites, so treat them with the same care as a CMS login.

How we chose

We used the MCP Guide's standard listicle criteria:

  • Official. Each entry comes from the design tool's own company. Community servers are not included.
  • Documented. The vendor publishes setup, sign-in and tool details.
  • Checked today. We opened each vendor's docs and pricing page on 28 October 2026. Where a pricing page blocked us, we say so.

Figma also appears on our best MCP servers for developers list for its coding side. For ads, social and SEO creative work, see the best MCP servers for marketing. The order below is not a ranking. More lists live on the MCP Guide's best-of hub.

What it is. The Figma MCP server gives AI tools design context such as components, variables and layout. Newer tools also let agents create and edit content in Figma Design, FigJam and Figma Slides. The recommended setup "Connects directly to Figma's hosted endpoint at https://mcp.figma.com/mcp."

Best for: Product teams turning Figma frames into front-end code.

Pricing: No separate MCP price today. Figma says writing to the canvas is "free during the beta period and will eventually become a usage-based paid feature." Figma's pricing page lists Professional at $16 a month for a Full seat and $12 for a Dev seat.

Pros:

  • Real component and variable data, not screenshots.
  • Hosted, with browser sign-in.
  • Agents can now create in FigJam and Slides as well as Design.

Cons:

  • Writing outside your drafts needs a Full seat.
  • Canvas-writing will move to paid usage after the beta.

2. Canva: on-brand graphics from a prompt

What it is. Canva's MCP server lets AI assistants "Create designs programmatically from text descriptions," edit them with plain instructions, access brand kits and templates, and export to formats including PDF, PNG, PPTX and MP4.

Best for: Marketing and social teams who need many on-brand assets fast.

Pricing: No separate MCP price listed. Canva's pricing page returned an error to us, so we don't quote plan prices. Our profile notes some tools need Canva Pro or above.

Pros:

  • Brand kits keep outputs on brand.
  • Many export formats, including video.
  • Hosted, with OAuth sign-in, per our profile.

Cons:

  • Canva runs a separate end-user connector and developer server, which can confuse setup.
  • Some features depend on a paid plan.

3. Adobe for creativity: Creative Cloud tools in Claude

What it is. Adobe launched the Adobe for creativity connector on 28 April 2026. Adobe says it gives "access to 50+ pro-grade tools," drawing on Photoshop, Illustrator, Firefly, Express, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign and Stock, and runs multi-step creative work from inside Claude.

Best for: Creatives who want quick edits and Express documents without opening each app.

Pricing: Adobe's announcement gives no price. It says "signing in with your Adobe account unlocks higher usage limits, access to more tools" and saved work.

Pros:

  • Many Adobe apps behind one connector.
  • Works without an Adobe sign-in for basic use.
  • Hands work off to editable Adobe Express documents.

Cons:

  • Adobe's launch post names Claude as the client. Adobe later said a Google Gemini version is coming.
  • Business admins may need to allow third-party connectors.

4. Miro: boards, diagrams and comments

What it is. Miro hosts its MCP server at https://mcp.miro.com/. Tools create boards, diagrams, docs and tables, reply to comments and summarize a board. Miro says it "Respects all existing board permissions and access controls."

Best for: Teams who plan in Miro and want an agent to read workshop output or draw architecture diagrams.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Only the board summary tool uses AI credits. Miro's pricing page lists Free at $0, Starter at $8 per member per month and Business at $20, billed yearly.

Pros:

  • OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration.
  • Keeps board permissions.
  • Useful for both design and engineering diagrams.

5. Sketch: a local server in the Mac app

What it is. Sketch describes its MCP server as "a lightweight local-only web server that lets AI clients like ChatGPT or Claude interact directly with Sketch." Its tools can "read from and write to your documents." It needs Sketch 2025.2.4 or later.

Best for: Mac-based designers who want an AI to work in open Sketch files.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Sketch's pricing page lists Standard at $12 per editor per month, Professional at $24 and Enterprise at $44, billed yearly, or a $120 Mac-only license per seat.

Pros:

  • Stays on your machine.
  • Works with any open document.
  • Built into the app, with nothing else to install.

Cons:

  • "Not available in the Mac App Store version."
  • Can't be reached remotely by cloud agents.

Checked against: Sketch docs on 28 October 2026.

6. Penpot: open-source design with three ways to connect

What it is. Penpot says its MCP server "connects an MCP-compatible AI client to your Penpot files," reading and changing components, styles, tokens, pages and layers. You can use a hosted remote server, run it locally with npx @penpot/mcp@stable or connect through a plugin in your browser tab.

Best for: Teams who want open-source design tools and design tokens they control.

Pricing: Penpot's pricing page lists Professional at $0, Unlimited at $7 per editor per month (capped at $175 a month) and Enterprise at $25 per member per month.

Pros:

  • Free core plan and self-hosting.
  • Works with design tokens.
  • Remote, local and plugin options.

Cons:

  • The plugin needs your Penpot tab open.
  • The docs give no stability label.

Checked against: Penpot Help Center on 28 October 2026.

7. Webflow: design, CMS and SEO on live sites

What it is. The Webflow MCP server lets agents build layouts, styles and components, manage CMS collections, create pages and update meta titles and Open Graph tags. Webflow says "Every agent works within your existing Webflow permissions and roles."

Best for: Designers and agencies building production sites in Webflow.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Webflow's pricing page lists a Basic site plan at $15 a month and CMS at $25 a month, billed yearly. Some tools need add-ons or an Enterprise plan.

Pros:

  • Covers design, content and SEO in one server.
  • Uses existing roles.
  • Most tools work without the Designer open.

Cons:

  • Visual snapshots and image uploads need the Designer and Bridge App open.
  • Classic interactions aren't supported, only GSAP.

Checked against: Webflow Developers on 28 October 2026. Full profile: Webflow MCP server.

8. Wix: sites, stores and bookings

What it is. The Wix MCP server at https://mcp.wix.com/mcp lets AI clients search Wix docs, write Wix code and make API calls on Wix sites. Its ManageWixSite tool can create, update or publish a site. Wix says all tools "are enabled by default."

Best for: Small businesses and freelancers managing Wix sites, stores or bookings.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Wix's plans page showed us region-specific prices, so we don't quote one.

Pros:

  • Business APIs for Stores, Bookings and CMS.
  • OAuth or API key sign-in.
  • Image upload to the Media Manager.

Cons:

  • All tools are on by default, including publishing.
  • Clients without remote support need a local proxy and Node.js 19.9.0 or later.

How to choose a design MCP server

Start with the tool your team already uses. A design MCP server only helps if the design files are clean: named layers, real components and variables give the AI something to work with.

If you want to...Start with
Turn designs into codeFigma, Penpot or Sketch
Make social and marketing graphicsCanva or Adobe for creativity
Map flows and run workshopsMiro
Build or edit a live websiteWebflow or Wix

A few guardrails:

  1. Protect live sites. Webflow and Wix tools can publish. Work on a staging site first.
  2. Mind the seats. Figma's canvas writing and Webflow's advanced tools depend on your plan.
  3. Check brand rules. AI output still needs a designer's review before it ships.
  4. Watch for hidden instructions. Comments and board text are input the AI reads. See MCP prompt injection.

Getting your design files ready for AI

A design MCP server passes along whatever is in the file. If the file is messy, the AI's output will be too. Before connecting one, spend an afternoon on the basics:

  • Name layers and frames. "Checkout / Payment step" tells an agent far more than "Frame 248."
  • Use components and variants. A button that is a real component can be mapped to the button in your code library. A grouped rectangle and text can't.
  • Store colors, spacing and type as variables or tokens. Figma variables and Penpot design tokens give the AI exact values instead of guesses from pixels.
  • Keep one source of truth. If marketing graphics live in Canva and product UI in Figma, decide which brand kit wins when they disagree.
  • Write short descriptions. A line on when to use a component helps people and agents alike.

These habits pay off even without AI. They also make the difference between a coding agent that rebuilds your design system and one that reuses it.

Frequently asked questions

What can a design MCP server do?

It lets an AI assistant read and change design files. Depending on the tool, that means pulling component details into code, creating graphics from a prompt, drawing diagrams or editing a website.

Is the Figma MCP server free?

There is no separate fee today, and Figma says writing to the canvas is free during the beta. It will later become a usage-based paid feature. You still need a suitable Figma seat.

Is there an open-source design MCP server?

Yes. Penpot is open source and offers a free Professional plan, with remote, local and plugin ways to connect.

Can an AI publish changes to my website?

Yes. Wix's ManageWixSite tool can publish a site, and Webflow's tools can change pages, CMS items and SEO settings. Limit access and test on staging.

Does Adobe have an MCP server?

Adobe offers the Adobe for creativity connector, which brings more than 50 Creative Cloud tools into Claude. Adobe also has a separate Firefly Creative Production workflow server for enterprise teams.
