Connecting Claude to QuickBooks lets you ask about profit, cash flow and who owes you money in plain English. Claude can also create, send and update invoices and estimates in your QuickBooks company. The connection uses Intuit's hosted QuickBooks connector, which is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server listed in Claude's directory.
Checked against: Intuit's QuickBooks connector help article and Claude's guide to adding connectors on 28 October 2026. eSEOspace did not run these steps; menus can change, so follow the vendor's page if it differs.
Key Takeaways
- Intuit says the QuickBooks connector for Claude is currently available to US customers only.
- You connect it from Customize > Connectors in Claude, then sign in with your Intuit account and pick a company.
- Claude can create invoices, and Intuit says every invoice it creates lands in QuickBooks right away.
- Intuit says deleting an invoice or estimate needs your confirmation first.
- Intuit says QuickBooks data is not used to train Claude.
Before you start
Intuit's help article lists what you need:
- An active Claude account.
- An active QuickBooks or Intuit Enterprise Suite subscription. Without one, you can still use the connector by giving your business type, country or region, and transaction data.
- A US business. Intuit says the connector is currently available to US customers only.
If you are not using a subscription, Intuit suggests at least 10 transactions covering a one-month business period for best results.
On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, Claude's docs say an Owner adds a connector for the organization first. Members then connect with their own account.
Claude's directory listing names the connector "Intuit QuickBooks," made by Intuit QuickBooks, with this connector URL:
https://ai-inc.quickbooks.intuit.com/v1/mcp
You do not need to type that URL. You add the connector from the directory.
Steps
- Open Claude.ai, select Customize in the left sidebar, then select Connectors. This is the path Intuit gives. Claude's docs call the same page Customize > Connectors.
- Find QuickBooks and select Connect. In Claude's directory flow, you may select Discover, search for the service, open its page and select Connect to Claude.
- If you have an Intuit account, sign in when asked. Intuit says you then select the company you want to connect and choose which permissions to grant Claude.
- When sign-in finishes, Claude's docs say the connector shows under Your connectors with the status Connected.
- In a chat, select + in the message box, select Connectors, and make sure the QuickBooks toggle is on.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, a member who sees Request instead of a connect button needs an Owner to add the connector. An Owner sees Connect for your team, per Claude's docs.
Check that it works
Intuit's help article suggests these first questions. Ask one with the connector turned on.
Example prompts:
- "What is my profit and loss for this year?"
- "Show me my cash flow for last month."
- "Create an invoice for Acme Corp for $1,200 for consulting services."
Claude can ask for approval before it uses a connector tool. Claude's docs say you can select Allow once or Always allow. Intuit says to check new invoices in QuickBooks after you create them, since they land there right away.
Permissions and safety
This connector reads and writes. Claude's directory listing shows 74 tools, including qbo_sales_create_invoice, qbo_sales_update_invoice and qbo_sales_delete_invoice. The listing says sends happen with "a clear preview and your confirmation before anything is sent."
Intuit says destructive actions, such as deleting an invoice or estimate, require your confirmation. It also says Claude pulls live data from QuickBooks or Intuit Enterprise Suite.
You can tighten this further in Claude. Open the connector under Customize > Connectors and use Tool permissions to set Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked for each group of tools. A sensible start is to block or require approval for the create, update, send and delete tools until you trust the output.
Team and Enterprise Owners can restrict actions org-wide, such as allowing reads but blocking writes. Claude's connector help article describes this.
Financial data plus write access is a high-value target. Read about excessive permissions in MCP and visit the MCP Security Center before you let an agent send invoices.
If it doesn't work
Intuit's help article lists these fixes:
- Connection fails. Disconnect and reconnect from the Connectors menu. Intuit says to disconnect fully, wait a moment, and reconnect once. Reconnecting immediately after connecting can cause an issue.
- Wrong data. Make sure you're signed in to the correct QuickBooks or Intuit Enterprise Suite user. Then check the numbers in QuickBooks itself, and contact QuickBooks Support if they are wrong there.
- Not in the US. The connector is US-only for now, per Intuit.
Claude's docs add one more: if Claude loses access, the connector row shows Reconnect. Select it and sign in again.
If you'd rather keep books in a ledger built for AI agents, LedgerMCP (built by eSEOspace) is a hosted double-entry bookkeeping MCP server; see the LedgerMCP profile.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a QuickBooks subscription to use the connector?
No, but it helps. Intuit says you can use the connector without a subscription by providing your business type, country or region, and transaction data. With an active QuickBooks or Intuit Enterprise Suite subscription, Claude pulls live data from your company.
Can Claude change my QuickBooks books?
Yes, within limits Intuit sets. Claude can create, update, send and duplicate invoices and estimates, add customers and products, and import transactions. Intuit says deletes need your confirmation first.
Is the QuickBooks connector available outside the US?
Not yet. Intuit's help article says the QuickBooks connector for Claude is currently available to US customers only. Check the article again before you plan a rollout elsewhere.
Does Claude train on my QuickBooks data?
Intuit says no. Its help article states that QuickBooks data is not used to train Claude. It adds that Intuit's agreements prohibit using customer data for model training.
