Best Squarespace SEO Experts in 2026-2027

By: Irina Shvaya | August 6, 2026

Disclosure: eSEOspace publishes this blog and ranks itself first. Every other entry was researched independently and links to its own site.

Squarespace is a closed system. You cannot install a plugin that rewrites your robots directives, you cannot restructure the URL pattern for blog posts, and you cannot bolt a caching layer onto the front end. That constraint changes who you should hire. A generalist SEO who spends their week in WordPress will hit a wall on Squarespace within the first audit, usually somewhere around collection pages, duplicate URL variants or the code injection panel.

So this list is not "the best SEO agencies who will also accept a Squarespace client." It is a ranked look at people and teams who actually work inside the platform, plus one entry (ours, at number one) that covers Squarespace alongside a wider technical and commercial stack.

Read the worst-fit note on each entry. It is the fastest way to disqualify six of these eight and get on with your day.

Key Takeaways

  • Squarespace SEO is mostly a constraints problem. The right hire is the one who knows what the platform will not let you do and has a workaround, not the one with the longest service menu.
  • Specialists beat generalists on platform quirks. Generalists beat specialists when the work spans ecommerce, analytics, CRO or a migration off Squarespace entirely.
  • AI search visibility (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) is now a stated focus for several of these providers. Treat it as an additional layer on solid technical and content work, not a replacement for it.
  • Solo-led practices give you senior attention and lower cost. They also give you one calendar and one set of blind spots.
  • Almost every scale claim in this category (client counts, review counts, plugin user counts) is self-reported on the provider's own site. We have flagged that rather than repeating it as fact.
  • Squarespace Circle membership and "Squarespace Expert" language mean different things. Circle is the platform's program for people who build on it; Expert status is a separate marketplace listing. Neither is a ranking guarantee.
  • Decide first whether you are buying a build, a retainer, an audit or training. Those are four different purchases, and most of the confusion in this market comes from conflating them.

How we evaluated these Squarespace SEO experts

We looked at what each provider publishes about itself, then weighted five things.

Demonstrated platform depth. Does the provider work in Squarespace habitually, or does it appear as one platform on a long list? We favoured teams that name Squarespace specifically in their service pages, publish Squarespace-specific technical material, or hold a stated Squarespace program status.

Service model clarity. Retainer, project, audit, paid working session, course. A clear model is a good sign. Vague "let's talk" pricing with no described deliverable is not.

Scope beyond rankings. SEO rarely ends at rankings. We gave credit for the ability to also handle content strategy, local SEO, ecommerce, analytics and conversion work, because those are usually where the revenue actually moves.

Verifiability. We only state founding years, locations and client names where the provider publishes them. Where a detail is not published, we say so instead of guessing. Several providers here publish impressive numbers that appear nowhere but their own marketing, and we have said that too.

Fit honesty. Every entry gets a worst-fit note. Any list where all eight options are excellent for everyone is a list that has stopped being useful.

We did not rank on price, because almost none of these providers publish comparable pricing, and we did not rank on review scores, because the review footprints are not comparable across the group.

1. eSEOspace

Founded: 2019 Best for: Businesses that need Squarespace SEO to connect to something bigger, whether that is ecommerce, analytics, a custom backend or a redesign.

We rank ourselves first and we have told you that at the top of the page, so judge the reasoning rather than the position.

eSEOspace has been working in search since 2019. The practice covers organic SEO, local SEO, ecommerce SEO, AI SEO for visibility in AI-generated answers, content strategy, conversion rate optimisation, and the web and software work that sits underneath all of it.

That last part is the reason a Squarespace owner might choose us over a Squarespace-only shop. A large share of Squarespace SEO problems are not really SEO problems. They are platform limits. When the fix is "restructure this section of the site", or "the store cannot support the filtering your customers search for", or "your analytics has been miscounting conversions for a year", you want a provider who can do the next thing rather than write a recommendation and hand it back to you.

We also work across platforms, which means we have no incentive to keep you on Squarespace if Squarespace is the constraint, and no incentive to move you off it if it is working. Plenty of sites should stay exactly where they are. The honest version of this conversation usually starts with an audit that separates the problems Squarespace caused from the problems the content caused, because those two get conflated constantly and they have completely different price tags.

Worst fit: If you specifically want a Squarespace-only boutique, someone whose entire identity is the platform and who lives in the Circle community, that is a legitimate preference and we are not that. Pick number two or number four instead. We are also not the right call if all you want is a one-off template tidy-up with no strategy attached.

If you want to talk it through, book a call.

2. SEOSpace

Best for: Squarespace owners who want a platform-exclusive specialist team, particularly if AI search visibility matters as much as classic Google rankings.

SEOSpace states plainly that Squarespace SEO and AIO is all they do. The practice was built around what the site describes as the first and only officially promoted Squarespace SEO plugin, and has extended into AI-search visibility work covering ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, alongside technical SEO, keyword research, backlink and authority building, on-page and local SEO.

The founder is Henry Purchase. The agency describes a distributed team working across the UK, US and Europe, and states it has served clients in over 100 countries. Four specialists are named alongside the founder on the agency page: Kashaf Abid, Tiffany Davidson, Benjamin Nuttall and Love Ajayi. No founding year is published anywhere on the site. Published case studies name Hendricks Property Management, Alan Ranger Photography, Jessica Lewis Voice, Studio Elias, Mind Matters Collective and The Square Agency.

A note on the numbers. The site publishes several different self-reported user figures in different places, covering plugin users, rank-tracker users and agency clients. None of them is independently audited, and they measure different things, so they are not directly comparable to each other or to anything a competitor publishes. Treat the headline stats as marketing and judge the case studies instead, which are the more useful artefact anyway because they at least name the business.

The natural pick if you already run their plugin and want done-for-you work layered on top. That combination is genuinely efficient: the team already knows the diagnostic output you are looking at, so you skip the discovery phase most agencies bill for.

Worst fit: If your problem spills outside Squarespace, into a separate store, a custom app or a data warehouse, a Squarespace-only team is a ceiling. Also a poor fit if you want a single named consultant you can pin down, since the delivery model is a distributed team.

3. Visuable

Founded: 2015 Best for: Businesses buying design, brand, copy and SEO as one package.

Visuable is a London agency at 20-22 Wenlock Road, describing itself as an award-winning Squarespace web design and SEO agency and a boutique Squarespace agency. Its about page states a team of ten working remotely worldwide. The core practice is Squarespace web design paired with SEO and AI optimisation: keyword strategy, website copywriting, AI-search optimisation, plus branding and integrations.

The published portfolio names Los Mochis, Monterey Prime American Grill, Brow Canvas and AlSawwaf Law, alongside restaurant and hospitality work including MILA Restaurant, Sale e Pepe and Amalinda Safari Collection, plus a long tail of individual consultants and service providers. That skews hospitality and consumer brands, which tells you something useful about where their design sensibility sits. If your category is industrial, regulated or B2B with a long sales cycle, look closely at whether that aesthetic actually serves your buyer.

Their pages do not state a formal Squarespace partner tier, and their scale and award claims are self-reported, so weigh the work rather than the badges. The portfolio is large enough to judge on its own merits, which is the better test.

Worst fit: If you already have a site you like and just want the search work, you are buying the wrong shape of engagement. Standalone SEO retainers are not the centre of gravity here. Also a mismatch if your priority is deep technical debugging rather than design-led growth.

4. by Crawford

Best for: Larger Squarespace projects and migrations where build quality and technical SEO cannot be separated.

by Crawford is a Squarespace-exclusive studio in Liverpool, led by Sam Crawford, describing itself as an official Squarespace Expert, Partner and Community Leader, and as a Circle member. SEO optimisation sits alongside custom design, migrations, ecommerce, accessibility audits and ongoing site management.

That framing is honest and worth reading carefully: SEO is one pillar of a broader Squarespace practice, not the entire offer. If your site is being built or rebuilt, that integration is a genuine advantage, because the technical decisions that determine your search ceiling are made during the build, not after it. Information architecture, URL structure and template selection are all effectively SEO decisions on Squarespace, and they are all much cheaper to get right than to fix.

The published portfolio names Lucky Voice, Children's Foundation of Mississippi, Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, Rest + Wild and Attune Consulting, among a wider set. That is an unusually broad range, from charity to entertainment to professional services.

No founding year or headcount appears on their own pages. The volume and satisfaction figures they publish are self-reported and not attached to any independent audit, so treat them as positioning rather than evidence.

Worst fit: If you have a stable site and want an aggressive content and link programme, a design-led studio is not the sharpest instrument. Hire a search-first team instead.

5. Websites by Khara

Founded: 2013 Best for: Small and local businesses that want a credentialled partner, and DIY owners who would rather learn the work.

Websites by Khara is a long-running solo-led Squarespace design and SEO practice run by Khara Wolf out of Durango, Colorado, working with clients worldwide. She publicly lists Certified Squarespace Expert status, a Squarespace Circle Platinum Partner badge for 2026, and an SEO certification badge from SEOSpace's approved-expert programme. The practice sells both done-for-you Squarespace AI SEO work and SEO courses.

The named client list is heavily local: Durango Creative District, Nature's Oasis Market, Pure Energy Performance, Durango Septic and FOY Medical, alongside a portfolio weighted towards regional nonprofits, musicians, medical practices and construction consultants. If you run a service business in a defined geography, that is exactly the track record you want to see, because local search is a different discipline from national organic and the proof is in whether someone has repeatedly done it.

The training option matters more than it sounds. For a lot of small businesses, the honest answer is that a retainer is not the best use of the budget and learning to publish well yourself is.

Worst fit: Enterprise scope, multi-location complexity or anything needing a bench of specialists. Team size is not published and the practice appears to be owner-led, so capacity is a real consideration.

6. Collaborada

Founded: 2013 Best for: Owners who want a strategist and a roadmap, not an open-ended monthly invoice.

Collaborada is an SEO consultancy for small businesses on Squarespace, led by Christine Darby, based in Austin with clients across the US, Canada and Europe. It pairs organic search work with design, content strategy, email marketing and migrations, and trades explicitly on being an official Squarespace Designer and an official Mailchimp Expert, both since 2014.

The distinguishing feature is the commercial model. Collaborada sells structured paid consulting and training sessions alongside done-for-you work, which suits an owner who wants an audit, a plan and a working session rather than a retainer they will struggle to evaluate in month four. That model also filters clients usefully: if you are not going to act on the plan, you will find out cheaply.

One thing to know going in: case studies and testimonials are anonymised to initials and descriptors, so you cannot name-check clients before signing. Any performance figures published are self-reported. Ask for references directly.

Worst fit: If you want a team to take the work off your plate entirely and never think about it again, a consulting-led practice will feel like homework. Also not the pick if you need heavy ongoing content production at volume.

7. Marksmen Studio

Best for: Clients who want a senior practitioner personally in the site, including the code injection panel.

Marksmen Studio is a small Brooklyn studio led by Mark Kuzmack, positioning SEO and content strategy specifically for Squarespace. It maintains a public resources library on Squarespace-specific SEO limitations and code-level workarounds, and displays Squarespace Circle membership.

That resources library is the strongest signal here. Publishing detailed material on what Squarespace will not do, and how to work around it, is the sort of thing you only produce after hitting the walls repeatedly. If your problems are technical, that experience is worth more than a slide deck, and it also lets you assess the thinking before you spend anything.

Be clear-eyed about what is not published: no founding year, no headcount beyond the founder, no traffic or revenue figures, and no review scores. One case study is published, for Burwood Group, an IT consulting firm, and the accompanying testimonial from their marketing director refers to greatly increased traffic without attaching a number to it.

Worst fit: Anyone who needs a documented results record before signing, or who needs multi-discipline delivery across design, paid media and content at volume. This is a hands-on senior engagement, with the capacity limits that implies.

8. LaunchHappy

Founded: 2020 Best for: Owners whose main goal is getting cited by AI assistants rather than climbing traditional rankings.

LaunchHappy was founded by Joseph Conroy and has repositioned around GEO and AEO: getting businesses cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, on top of a Squarespace design and SEO base. The site states that Squarespace has been their home since 2020, while also taking work on other platforms.

Two things deserve credit. First, they state outright that they are not affiliated with Squarespace, which is more honest than the vaguely official language used across this market. Second, they offer a free GEO and AEO report, delivered without a sales call, which lets you evaluate the thinking before committing budget.

The caveats are real. No location is published anywhere on the site. Testimonials use first name plus initial only, so no client can be named or verified. The rating, review count and client count on the site are self-reported and are not linked to any external review profile where a buyer could check them, and the one published case study is presented as a proprietary score moving over time rather than as traffic, rankings or revenue.

Worst fit: If you want traditional organic search fundamentals done properly first, an AI-visibility-led positioning puts the emphasis in the wrong place for you. Also a poor fit for buyers who need verifiable references and a stated business location before signing a contract.

Frequently asked questions

Is Squarespace actually bad for SEO?

No, but it is opinionated. Squarespace handles the fundamentals competently out of the box: clean markup, mobile rendering, SSL, sitemaps, basic meta control. Where it constrains you is structural. URL patterns for blog posts and collection items follow platform conventions, some page types generate duplicate URL variants, and anything unusual has to go through code injection. The practical consequence is that ceiling problems tend to be architectural rather than tactical, which is why hiring someone who already knows the platform's edges saves months.

What does Squarespace SEO cost?

Almost none of these providers publish comparable pricing, which is why we did not rank on it. Broadly, you are choosing between four purchases: a one-off audit, a project (usually attached to a build or migration), an ongoing retainer, or training so you can do the work yourself. Get quotes for the same scope from three providers before you conclude anything about market rate, and be suspicious of any quote that does not describe deliverables and a reporting cadence.

Does a Squarespace Circle or Expert badge mean anything?

Less than the marketing implies. Circle is Squarespace's program for people who build on the platform, and membership signals engagement with the ecosystem rather than audited SEO competence. Directory listings and partner tiers are worth a little more, because they usually involve some volume or vetting threshold. Neither predicts whether someone can fix your indexing problem. Use badges to shortlist, then judge on published work and references.

Should I be paying for AI search optimisation in 2026?

It depends on whether your buyers actually use AI assistants to find providers like you. For some categories they clearly do. For others, a local service business with a strong map presence, for instance, traditional local SEO still moves far more revenue. The underlying work overlaps heavily anyway: clear entity information, structured data, genuinely useful content and third-party citations help in both channels. Be wary of anyone selling AI visibility as a separate product with separate mechanics, and be especially wary of proprietary visibility scores that only the seller can calculate. Read our take on AI SEO if you want the longer version.

Do I need a Squarespace specialist, or will a good general SEO do?

If your work is content, keyword targeting and link acquisition, a strong generalist is fine, and probably cheaper. If your work is technical, indexing, duplicate URLs, structured data, store configuration, hire someone who has hit those walls on Squarespace specifically. The wasted-time cost of a generalist learning the platform on your budget usually exceeds the specialist premium.

How long before I see results?

Assume three to six months before organic changes show clearly in revenue, longer in competitive categories, and longer still on a new domain. Technical fixes can move things faster, sometimes within weeks, because you are removing a blocker rather than building authority. Anyone promising ranking timelines with confidence is guessing. What you should demand instead is a clear reporting cadence and honest analytics so you can see whether the work is compounding.

The bottom line

The single most useful question here is not "who is the best Squarespace SEO expert." It is "what am I actually buying."

If you are buying a build, hire a studio where SEO is designed in from the start. If you are buying a plan, hire a consultant who sells plans. If you are buying capability you do not have and will never have in-house, hire a team with a bench. And if your search problem is really a platform, store or data problem wearing an SEO costume, hire someone who can fix the underlying thing.

One last filter. Every provider in this category publishes numbers about itself, and almost none of those numbers can be checked anywhere else. That is not necessarily dishonesty, it is just how a small-agency market talks. But it does mean the claims should carry very little weight in your decision. Named clients you can visit, published technical material you can read, and a clearly described deliverable are worth more than any statistic on a homepage.

Every provider on this list is a legitimate business doing real work. Six of the eight will be wrong for you, and the worst-fit notes are there to help you work out which six as quickly as possible.

If your situation spans SEO plus build, ecommerce or analytics, that is the territory we work in. Book a call and we will tell you honestly if one of the other seven is the better fit.
