Top Craft CMS Developers in 2026-2027
Top Craft CMS Developers in 2026-2027

Disclosure: eSEOspace publishes this blog and ranks itself first. Every other entry was researched independently and links to its own site.
Craft CMS attracts a specific kind of buyer. You picked it because you wanted a content model you actually design yourself, an editor experience your marketing team will not fight, and a codebase that does not carry twenty years of plugin sediment. That same specificity narrows your agency options. The pool of shops that genuinely build in Craft, as opposed to shops that will learn it on your budget, is small.
This list covers eight of them. Seven are independent agencies listed in the official Craft partner directory, and we checked each profile directly. One is us. We have been transparent about that in the line above, and we have written every other entry from public, checkable sources rather than from sales decks.
A note on what you will not find here: invented statistics, borrowed review scores, or headcounts we could not confirm. Several of these agencies publish claims on their own sites that we could not independently verify. Where that happened, we say so inside the entry and name the source rather than repeating the claim as settled fact.
Key Takeaways
- Craft partner verification comes in three flavors: Craft Verified, Commerce Verified and Enterprise Verified. Enterprise Verified is the meaningful signal if you are running a large, multi-site or heavily integrated build.
- The biggest split in this market is build-only shops versus agencies that also run marketing after launch. Choosing wrong is the most common and most expensive mistake buyers make.
- If you are running Craft Commerce, your shortlist shrinks fast. Commerce Verified partners are a subset of Craft partners, and commerce experience is not transferable from generic Craft work.
- Plugin authorship is an underrated credibility signal. Agencies that maintain widely used Craft plugins have to live with Craft's internals continuously, not just during a project.
- Several agencies in this space publish self-reported awards, retention figures and certification claims that do not match the official partner directory. Ask for evidence before you weight them.
- Watch for partner-tier language that does not exist. Craft's program has exactly three verification badges, so any other tier name you see on an agency site is that agency's own wording, not a credential Craft issues.
- Geography still matters for enterprise work. Time zone overlap with your internal stakeholders affects delivery speed more than most procurement processes account for.
- A Craft build that nobody can find is still a failure. Budget for search, analytics and conversion work as part of the project, not as a phase two that never arrives.
How we evaluated these Craft CMS developers
Four criteria, weighted roughly in this order.
Verifiable Craft credentials. Every agency below except us appears in the official Craft partner directory. We opened each profile and recorded which verification badges it actually carries rather than accepting "Craft experts" as a homepage claim. Where an agency's own marketing conflicts with the directory, the directory wins and we say so in the entry.
Demonstrated depth beyond a standard build. Craft is easy to install and hard to scale. We looked for evidence of custom module and plugin development, headless and composable architectures, Commerce implementations, migrations off legacy platforms, and integration work against real enterprise systems.
Fit clarity. The most useful thing a list can do is tell you who an agency is wrong for. Every entry carries an honest worst-fit note. If an agency is excellent and still wrong for you, that is more actionable than a score out of ten.
What survives fact-checking. We excluded revenue figures, third-party review scores and precise headcounts across the board because we could not audit them consistently. Where a directory publishes a team-size band, we cite it as a directory figure rather than as a fact about the company. We also excluded agencies whose demonstrable work sits in other stacks entirely. Being a strong WordPress or Shopify shop is not a qualification for a Craft build, and we did not treat it as one.

1. eSEOspace
Founded: 2019 Best for: organizations that want the Craft build and the growth program owned by the same team
We are ranked first on our own list, which you should discount accordingly. Here is the case anyway.
Most agencies on this page are excellent at building the thing. Fewer are set up to make the thing perform after launch. eSEOspace was founded in 2019 as a combined design, development and search practice, and that combination is the reason clients come to us for CMS work in the first place. The site architecture, the content model, the internal linking, the schema, the analytics instrumentation and the conversion path get designed together rather than handed between vendors.
We are not in the Craft partner directory, and we are not going to imply otherwise on a page whose whole premise is checking that directory. What we bring is the layer either side of the build.
Our capability spans website design, custom software design and development, custom website and CRM development for the integration layer behind a content site, and content management for the editorial workflow after launch. On the growth side we run organic SEO, AI SEO for visibility inside AI search surfaces, and conversion rate optimization.
The practical argument for a combined team is accountability. When traffic drops after a replatform, a build-only agency points at the SEO vendor and the SEO vendor points at the build. We do not get to do that. The redirect map, the URL taxonomy and the template output are the same team's responsibility as the rankings that depend on them, which changes how those decisions get made in the first place.
Worst fit: if you specifically want an agency whose entire identity is Craft and nothing else, we are not that. The agencies below have narrower, deeper Craft specializations, and for a purely technical Craft engagement with no marketing component, several of them are a better match. We would rather tell you that than win a project we are the wrong shape for. If you want to talk it through honestly, book a call.
2. Imarc
Founded: 1997 Based: Amesbury, Massachusetts Notable clients: Coalfire, Metro Credit Union, SecurityScorecard, BlueVoyant, Beacon Hill Staffing Group, McLanahan
Imarc is a full-service digital agency covering strategy, creative, development and performance marketing, with Craft as a core build platform. The 1997 founding date comes from their own about page. Their Craft partner profile dates their Craft work to 2014, places them in a 30 to 49 person team band, and describes a staff of web engineers, UX professionals, designers, writers, strategists and marketing people. They hold all three verification badges: Craft Verified, Commerce Verified and Enterprise Verified.
They also publish their own Craft plugins, Pickture and Entry TOC. Plugin authorship matters because it means someone on the team is reading Craft's source regularly rather than only its documentation, and because a published plugin is a piece of their engineering you can actually inspect before you sign anything.
The client roster on the partner profile leans B2B and enterprise, with a visible concentration in security and financial services. That is the profile of an agency comfortable inside procurement processes, compliance reviews and long stakeholder chains. It also tells you something about their content-model instincts: sites in those sectors tend to carry heavy resource libraries, gated assets and lead routing, which is exactly the kind of structure Craft handles well and generic themes handle badly.
One caveat worth knowing: we could not find a dedicated Craft CMS service page on imarc.com, and the obvious URLs return 404. Craft-specific service claims beyond the partner profile are therefore unconfirmed. Their about page carries awards, Inc. 5000 and Clutch rating claims that we did not independently verify and have not repeated here.
Worst fit: a small organization with a tight budget and a simple brochure site. An agency structured for enterprise engagements will price and scope accordingly, and you will be paying for capabilities you never use.
3. Happy Cog
Founded: 1999 Based: New York, New York, with a fully distributed team Notable clients: Houghton Mifflin, Poetry Foundation, Capsugel/Lonza, Fireclay Tile, EL Education, Vivrelle, Viewpoint
Happy Cog is one of the longest-running names in US web design, and it has grown into a broad digital agency spanning strategy, brand and UX, development, ecommerce, analytics and AI implementation. The 1999 date is stated on their own about page. Their services page describes them as CMS-agnostic, saying they assess client needs before recommending a traditional or headless implementation, and it calls them "Wordpress and Craft VIP Partners." Worth noting: Craft's partner program publishes three verification tiers and none of them is called VIP, so treat that phrase as their wording rather than a credential Craft issues. The directory itself lists them as Craft Verified, Commerce Verified and Enterprise Verified, which is the top of what Craft actually awards.
The strength here is the combination of a genuine brand and strategy practice with engineering that can handle CRM and ERP integration, subscription models and multilingual builds. Their partner profile ties specific clients to those capability types, including CRM and ERP integration work, a headless Craft migration, subscription ecommerce and a multilingual global site. If your Craft project is really a rebrand, a platform decision and an integration program wearing a trench coat, that combination is valuable.
On size, we are citing rather than asserting: their Craft partner profile describes an 85-person US-based agency and puts them in a 75-plus band. Their own about page does not state a total and instead presents a distributed team roster. We did not audit either number. Their New York listing also sits alongside a fully distributed team description, so treat the address as a listing rather than a guaranteed staffed office you can walk into.
Worst fit: teams that want a small, named, consistent crew from kickoff to launch. Large distributed agencies staff by phase, and if continuity of specific people is your priority, a boutique will serve you better.
4. Viget
Founded: 1999 Based: Falls Church, Virginia, plus Durham, Boulder, Chattanooga and remote US staff Notable clients: WWF, NFL Players Association, DICK'S Sporting Goods, AARP, National Park Foundation, Robinhood, Harvard University, Human Rights Campaign, White House Historical Association
Viget is an independent full-service agency that builds digital products and platforms, with a Craft practice their partner profile dates to 2014. The founding year and the five locations are both stated on their own about page. The work spans UX research, design, custom Craft module and plugin development, Craft Commerce, and integrations against systems like Salesforce and Azure Blob Storage. They are listed as a Craft Verified Partner, and their partner profile credits them with a Craft plugin called Classnames.
Unlike several agencies here, Viget maintains a live Craft CMS service page on its own site, and it is consistent with the directory listing rather than contradicting it. That page argues for Craft on flexibility, built-in localization, previewing and versioning, and control panel usability, and it showcases Craft projects including an ecommerce build, the NFL Players Association portal, NationalParks.org, HRC.org and the White House Historical Association. It is a small thing, but an agency whose public marketing and whose directory profile tell the same story is easier to diligence than one where you have to pick a version.
What distinguishes Viget on this list is research. Their client base skews toward national nonprofits, associations and consumer brands where the content model has to serve several audiences with conflicting needs, and that is a research problem before it is a development problem. Their about page does not publish a headcount and we did not estimate one.
Worst fit: a fast, lean build with a fixed launch date. A research-led process is the right investment when the content strategy is genuinely unresolved, and an expensive detour when you already know exactly what you are building.
5. Foster Made
Founded: 2005 according to their Craft partner profile Based: Richmond, Virginia Notable clients: CAULIPOWER, Apex Learning Virtual School, Kion, Joan Mitchell Foundation, McKinnon and Harris, Death Penalty Information Center, HireRight, Museum of the American Revolution, Southern Environmental Law Center
Foster Made is a boutique design and development agency positioned around composable architecture, headless commerce, content platforms, search and discovery, and platform migration. Their Craft partner profile states that they specialize in extending Craft's capabilities beyond the mid-market to deliver packaged solutions that rival enterprise products, and it lists migrations, upgrades, API development, plugin development and accessibility among their expertise areas. They carry all three badges: Craft, Commerce and Enterprise Verified. The 2005 founding date appears on that profile; their own about page does not state one.
This is the entry to look at if you have outgrown a standard Craft build. Headless and composable setups, migrations off legacy platforms, and Craft sites that need a custom search or commerce layer are explicitly their territory. The client mix supports it: the names above span consumer packaged goods, education, nonprofit and enterprise services, which is a portfolio shape you only get when the underlying architecture is being reused rather than rebuilt each time.
Worth knowing before you call: their own site foregrounds MACH Alliance membership, describing them as a MACH Alliance Boutique Systems Integrator, and does not mention Craft on the homepage or about page at all. The Craft focus is verified through the official partner directory rather than through their own marketing, which is an unusual split and one you should raise on the first call if Craft specifically is what you are buying. Their about page describes a tight-knit team without stating a size, and the directory places them in a 10 to 29 person band.
Worst fit: a straightforward marketing site that does not need composable anything. Hiring a composable architecture specialist for a twelve-page site adds complexity you will pay to maintain forever.
6. Mostly Serious
Founded: 2010 according to their Craft partner profile Based: Springfield, Missouri Notable clients: Digital Monitoring Products, Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, Justice Furniture & Bedding, Andy B's, Missouri Health Matters, Project Shift
Mostly Serious is a Midwest agency that its Craft partner profile describes as a full-service digital shop specializing in custom Craft CMS builds and Craft Commerce. Their own site organizes the business into three lines: digital solutions, AI strategy and workshops, and a training and consulting practice. They carry all three Craft badges, including Enterprise Verified, and they have released a Craft plugin that integrates the Marker.io feedback tool.
The interesting thing about this entry is the badge-to-scale ratio. Enterprise Verified status alongside a directory team band of 10 to 29 people means mid-market organizations can access enterprise-grade Craft capability without buying into an enterprise agency's overhead. Their directory expertise list includes ongoing maintenance, upgrades, DevOps and hosting, and accessibility, which suggests they expect to still be involved a year after launch rather than handing you a repository and a goodbye. That is not universal in this market and it is worth asking about explicitly.
Two things we did not carry over. Their about page runs stat counters that rendered as placeholder zeros when we looked, so we have not cited any figures from it, including a founding year. A Webby nomination attached to one project on their partner profile is the profile's own claim and we did not independently confirm it.
Worst fit: a global enterprise needing multi-region delivery, follow-the-sun support and a large simultaneous workstream count. A focused regional agency has finite bandwidth by design.
7. webdna
Based: Nottingham, United Kingdom Notable clients: Vodafone, Welsh Rugby Union, Green Lithium, Paws In Work, Modelli Fabrics, Walford Timber, AAB, Covertex
webdna combines Craft development with design and digital marketing across SEO, strategy, migrations and upgrades. Their Craft profile describes them as the UK's only Craft Commerce Verified agency, which is their own framing rather than a Craft-issued designation, and the directory confirms they hold Craft Verified and Commerce Verified badges but not Enterprise Verified. They maintain several Craft plugins including Braintree and Opayo payment gateways for Craft Commerce, plus QRCode, DNA Reports and an Email Content Editor.
Payment gateway plugins are a specific and useful credential. Building and maintaining a gateway integration for Craft Commerce means dealing with the least forgiving part of an ecommerce stack repeatedly: settlement edge cases, failed captures, refunds, and the version churn that comes when a processor changes its API. If you are a UK or European brand running Commerce, that depth is hard to substitute, and it is the kind of thing that is invisible in a portfolio and extremely visible in a launch week.
Their about page states over twenty years of operation without naming a founding year, so we have not stated one, and it puts the team at twenty-two people. That page also claims a Craft CMS Agency of the Year award for Europe and a Best Places to Work listing. Both are their own claims and we could not independently confirm either. If they matter to your decision, ask them for the source.
Worst fit: North American organizations that need real-time collaboration with a US-based team. The Craft Commerce depth is genuine, and the time zone gap is genuine too.
8. Solspace
Based: North America, per the Craft partner directory Notable clients: ProPublica, Nokia, IDEO, Genpact, Hytera, Robots.com, Kirei, Here Comes The Guide, Centering Healthcare Institute, Institute for the Future
Solspace is unusual on this list because their reputation in the Craft ecosystem rests as much on tooling as on client work. They build Freeform and Calendar, two of the most widely used plugins in the Craft world, plus an AI Assistant plugin. If you have run a Craft site of any size, you have probably used their code. That matters commercially as well as technically: a company with a plugin business has revenue that does not depend on winning your project, which tends to change the sales conversation.
Client services cover emergency response, custom development, upgrades and maintenance, performance optimization, Craft Cloud migrations and third-party integrations, with an emphasis on retained long-term support. They are listed as Craft Verified and Commerce Verified, and the directory places them in a 10 to 29 person band.
Two things to flag honestly. Their Craft services page states they are "one of only 11 certified Craft CMS Enterprise Partners," but the official directory lists them under Craft Verified and Commerce Verified, not Enterprise Verified. Those two sources conflict, and we did not treat the Enterprise claim as verified. The same page publishes client-retention and client-profile percentages that are self-reported and unaudited, so we have not repeated the figures. Their location is listed only as North America, and their about page cites over twenty years without a founding year.
Worst fit: brand-led projects where the visual identity and creative direction are the main deliverable. This is an engineering-first shop, and their strongest work sits under the hood.

Frequently asked questions
What do the Craft verification badges actually mean, and should I care?
Craft's partner program distinguishes Craft Verified, Commerce Verified and Enterprise Verified. Craft Verified is the baseline signal that an agency genuinely works in the platform. Commerce Verified indicates demonstrated Craft Commerce capability, which is a materially different skill set from content site work. Enterprise Verified is the one to weight most heavily if your project involves multiple sites, complex permissions, significant integration surface or a formal procurement process. Those three are the whole list, so if an agency describes itself with a tier name you cannot find in the directory, that is marketing language and you should read it as such. You should care about the badges, mainly as a filter. They do not tell you whether an agency is good at your specific problem, but their absence tells you something.
Is Craft CMS a risk for SEO compared with WordPress?
No, and in several ways it is an advantage. Craft gives you direct control over templates, URL structures, field-level content and output markup without fighting a theme. That control makes technical SEO cleaner to implement than on a heavily themed WordPress install. The risk in a Craft project is not the platform, it is the replatform itself. Most traffic losses after a CMS migration come from broken redirect mapping, changed URL patterns, dropped metadata and lost internal linking, not from the CMS. Plan the migration mapping before development starts, and pair the build with organic SEO work rather than treating search as a post-launch phase.
How do I evaluate a Craft agency when I cannot read their code?
Ask three questions. First, what Craft plugins or modules have you built and maintained, and can I see them? Custom module work is where Craft projects succeed or fail, and a published plugin is something you can hand to any developer for a second opinion. Second, walk me through a migration you ran off a legacy platform, including what broke. Agencies that answer honestly have done it. Third, who maintains this after launch, and what does that engagement look like? An agency without a clear answer is a build-only shop, which is fine if you know it going in. A fourth question worth adding: pull up their partner directory profile alongside their website and ask about anything that does not match.
Should I go headless with Craft?
Only if you have a concrete reason. Headless makes sense when you are serving multiple front ends, when you need a specific front-end framework for application-like functionality, or when your content feeds channels beyond a website. It costs you Craft's live preview quality, adds a deployment surface and increases long-run maintenance. For a marketing site with a single front end, a well-built monolithic Craft install is usually faster to ship, cheaper to maintain and easier for your editors. Foster Made and Solspace both position around composable and headless work, so if you do have the reason, the capability exists on this list.
What should a Craft CMS build actually cost?
None of the agencies on this list publish rates, and we have not estimated any. The honest answer is that the range is enormous, driven by integration count, content model complexity, whether Commerce is involved, and how much design work is net new. What we can tell you is where budgets get wasted: on over-engineering a content model for hypothetical future needs, on custom development that a well-configured field layout would have handled, and on a build with no budget left for the analytics and insights work that tells you whether any of it worked. If a proposal quotes a number without first interrogating those variables, the number is a guess.
Why is my competitor's agency not on this list?
Because we could not verify that they build in Craft. There are strong agencies working in WordPress, Shopify and search that we respect and would recommend in those contexts, and we deliberately left them out of a Craft article. Recommending an agency into a stack they do not demonstrably work in is how buyers end up funding someone's learning curve. If an agency you are considering is absent here, check the official Craft partner directory yourself before assuming anything either way.
Conclusion
The Craft market rewards specificity. Every agency on this list is genuinely capable, and each one is wrong for some readers of this article. Imarc and Happy Cog are built for enterprise scope and priced for it. Viget leads with research, which is either exactly what you need or an expensive detour. Foster Made and Solspace go deep on architecture and engineering. Mostly Serious gives mid-market buyers Enterprise Verified capability without enterprise overhead. webdna is the Commerce answer for UK and European brands.
One pattern is worth carrying into your own diligence. Across this shortlist, the gap between what an agency claims on its website and what the official directory records was the single most common discrepancy we found. Sometimes the site undersells the directory, as with Foster Made, whose own pages barely mention Craft. Sometimes it oversells, as with a certification tier that the directory does not show. Neither is disqualifying on its own. Both are worth a direct question.
Our own position is the one we have argued throughout: the build is half the project. A Craft site that ships beautifully and then sits unfound, unmeasured and unoptimized has not solved your problem. Whoever you hire, make sure someone owns what happens after launch, and make sure that ownership is written into the engagement rather than assumed.
