Best MCP Servers for Social Media in 2026

This list is part of our best-of MCP lists, within The MCP Guide. Entries are checked against each vendor's own pages; inclusion is editorial and not paid.

The best MCP servers for social media in 2026 fall into three groups: schedulers (Buffer, Hootsuite, Agorapulse, Postiz and Ayrshare), listening tools (Meltwater and Brand24), and creative or paid-social servers (Canva and Meta). For most teams, the right pick is the server for the tool you already pay for. What differs is how much the AI can publish on its own.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets an AI app such as Claude or ChatGPT read and act in other software. Connected to a social tool, it lets you ask "Which posts got the most saves last month?" or "Draft three LinkedIn posts from this blog and save them as drafts."

We checked every entry against the vendor's own site or docs on 2 November 2026. We did not test these products. For the wider marketing stack, see our best MCP servers for marketing.

Key Takeaways

  • Buffer, Hootsuite and Agorapulse all run official, hosted MCP servers as of November 2026. Agorapulse launched its server on 29 October 2026.
  • Write power varies a lot. Agorapulse deliberately left out "publish now," while Buffer's create_post and Postiz's schedulePostTool can publish immediately.
  • Listening tools are joining in. Meltwater has a Claude directory connector, and Brand24 runs a server at mcp.brand24.com.
  • Developers and agencies building their own posting apps can use API-first servers from Ayrshare and Postiz.
  • No vendor here lists a separate MCP fee, but API limits and plan tiers still apply.

How we chose

We used the MCP Guide's standard listicle criteria:

  • Live and public. The vendor must publish and document its own MCP server, or list it in a major AI app's connector directory. We opened each page on 2 November 2026.
  • Clear pricing. The vendor must publish pricing or say how to get it. Prices come only from official pricing pages.
  • Security basics. The docs must describe sign-in, permissions or review steps.

We left out community servers that wrap a vendor's API without the vendor's involvement, such as several unofficial Sprout Social projects. We also left out Sprinklr: press coverage describes a beta MCP connector from July 2026, but we could not open a Sprinklr page that documents it. The order is not a ranking. Buffer logo1. Buffer: named tools and a draft-first workflow

What it is. Buffer hosts its server at https://mcp.buffer.com/mcp, and its MCP docs say it is "the only Buffer MCP endpoint." Tools cover channels, posts, ideas and post templates, plus a review_weekly_posts prompt that groups the week's scheduled posts by channel. Most AI tools connect over OAuth with no API key.

Best for: Small businesses, creators and lean marketing teams.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Buffer's pricing page lists a Free plan for up to 3 channels, Essentials at $5 per channel per month and Team at $10 per channel per month. All plans include API access, and MCP requests share the same limits.

Pros:

  • Every tool is documented by name, including create_post, edit_post and get_aggregated_post_metrics.
  • create_post can save drafts, so a person can review before scheduling.
  • Rate-limit responses include remaining quota and a Retry-After value.

Cons:

  • Buffer says "There is no per-organization scoping," so the connection covers the whole account.
  • create_post can also share a post immediately, so approval prompts matter.

Hootsuite logo2. Hootsuite: four servers split by job

What it is. Hootsuite's MCP page lists four servers. Perch (https://mcp.hootsuite.com/perch) handles drafting, scheduling, the content library and performance review. Nest covers the social inbox, Lumen covers listening and Parliament covers employee advocacy.

Best for: Mid-size and enterprise teams that already run Hootsuite.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Hootsuite's plans page lists Standard from $99 and Professional from $199 per user per month on annual billing, with Enterprise on request. Advanced listening powered by Lumen is listed for Enterprise only. Hootsuite says you need "access to the relevant product" to use each server.

Pros:

  • Separate servers let you connect only the job you need, such as the inbox.
  • ChatGPT and Claude connect through pre-built connectors.
  • Hootsuite says permissions stay tied to each user's Hootsuite account.

Cons:

  • Hootsuite does not publish tool names, so check the tool list in your client.
  • For Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, Hootsuite says "setup requires IT administrator access."

Checked against: Hootsuite MCP integration page on 2 November 2026. Full profile: Hootsuite MCP server.

Agorapulse logo3. Agorapulse: listening, inbox and drafts without "publish now"

What it is. Agorapulse announced its MCP server on 29 October 2026 for Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot Studio. It covers listening, the inbox, reporting and drafting. Write actions at launch are limited to drafts, calendar notes and prepared replies.

Best for: Agencies and in-house teams that want AI help without auto-publishing.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. The announcement says the server is available "to all subscribers." Agorapulse's pricing page lists Standard at $79 per user per month billed annually ($99 monthly), Professional at $119 ($149 monthly) and Advanced at $149 ($199 monthly), each with 10 social profiles. On the AI side, Agorapulse names Claude Pro or above, ChatGPT Go or above, or a paid Copilot Studio plan.

Pros:

  • Agorapulse says it deliberately omitted a "publish now" action.
  • Inbox replies need user confirmation, or manager approval where a workflow applies.
  • Each user signs in with their own login and sees only their own profiles.

Cons:

  • Scheduling, editing and deleting posts are described as "coming in the coming days," not available at launch.
  • The announcement does not publish an endpoint URL or tool names.

Checked against: Agorapulse MCP announcement on 2 November 2026.

Postiz logo4. Postiz: open-source scheduler with MCP on every plan

What it is. Postiz is an open-source social scheduler with a hosted MCP server at https://mcp.postiz.com/mcp. Its MCP docs list 13 tools, including integrationList, schedulePostTool, generateImageTool and clippingTool, which turns a long YouTube video into captioned vertical clips. You authenticate with an API key or an OAuth token.

Best for: Budget-conscious teams, developers and agencies that want to self-host.

Pricing: Postiz's pricing page lists Standard at $29 per month ($23 billed annually), Team at $39, Pro at $49 and Ultimate at $99, each with a 7-day trial. It says "Every plan includes the MCP server, CLI and API." The self-hosted edition is free under AGPL-3.0.

Pros:

  • Clear, published tool list with parameters.
  • Customer groups let you filter channels by client.
  • Self-hosting keeps data on your own server.

Cons:

  • schedulePostTool can publish immediately, not just draft.
  • One connection option puts the API key in the URL, which is easy to leak in shared configs.

Checked against: Postiz MCP docs on 2 November 2026.

Ayrshare logo5. Ayrshare: API-first posting for developers

What it is. Ayrshare is a social media API. Its MCP Action Server at https://api.ayrshare.com/mcp lets an agent publish posts, fetch history and analytics, manage comments and direct messages, and create profiles. Ayrshare lists 33 tools and says each call runs through the same authentication, rate limits and quotas as its REST API.

Best for: Developers and SaaS platforms posting for many client accounts.

Pricing: Ayrshare's pricing page lists Premium at $149 per month, Launch at $299 per month and Business at $599 per month ($499 billed annually), with Enterprise on request. Profiles and sub-profiles through MCP need Business or Enterprise.

Pros:

  • Same rules and data as the REST API, so behavior is predictable.
  • Stateless Streamable HTTP endpoint.
  • A separate read-only docs server helps developers without granting actions.

Cons:

  • Priced for developers and platforms, not a single small business.
  • Agents can publish directly, so you need your own review step.

Checked against: Ayrshare MCP Server docs on 2 November 2026.

Meltwater logo6. Meltwater: media and social listening

What it is. Meltwater has a connector in Claude's directory, marked "Made by Meltwater." It lets you "Search billions of news articles and social posts, retrieve live metrics, trends, and sentiment." Its 10 listed tools include listening_create_search, listening_list_searches and unified_retrieval_statistics_retrieval_tool.

Best for: PR, communications and brand teams.

Pricing: Pricing on request. Meltwater's pricing page says it "uses tailored pricing" and lists "API & MCP Integrations" on its Enterprise and Agency plans. An active Meltwater subscription is required.

Pros:

  • Covers news and social in one place.
  • Can generate Boolean queries from plain-English requests.
  • Listed in Claude's connector directory.

Cons:

  • Includes tools that update and delete saved searches.
  • No public price, and MCP is listed only on higher plans.

Checked against: Claude's Meltwater connector listing on 2 November 2026.

Brand24 logo7. Brand24: brand monitoring in ChatGPT and Claude

What it is. Brand24's MCP help article gives a server at https://mcp.brand24.com/v1/mcp with OAuth sign-in. Brand24 says it is "an official app in the OpenAI App Store," and Claude users can add it as a custom connector. You can ask for event summaries, main discussions, influencers and the sources mentioning your brand.

Best for: Small and mid-size brands tracking mentions and sentiment.

Pricing: Brand24 says "MCP access is available to Brand24 subscribers." Brand24's pricing page lists Individual at $199 per month billed annually ($249 monthly), Team at $299, Pro at $399 and Business at $599 annually, with Enterprise from $1,499.

Pros:

  • Data is fetched live from your projects, not a cached snapshot.
  • Works with any MCP client through one URL.
  • Focused on questions marketers actually ask.

Cons:

  • Brand24 does not list tool names or say whether access is read-only.
  • The pricing page lists MCP but does not say which plans include it.

Checked against: Brand24 MCP help article on 2 November 2026.

Canva logo8. Canva: social graphics from a prompt

What it is. Canva runs a remote MCP server that, per its developer docs, can "Create designs programmatically from text descriptions," edit designs, manage assets and export to PNG, JPG, PDF, MP4 and more. Its tools page lists 47 tools, including resize-design for adapting a design to different channels.

Best for: Social teams that need on-brand graphics alongside captions.

Pricing: No separate MCP price. Canva's tools page marks 9 tools as Pro and above, including brand kits, brand templates and resize-design (Free users get a limited resize trial).

Pros:

  • Each person signs in to their own Canva account.
  • Brand templates keep AI-made graphics on brand.
  • Default tools share a cap of 300 requests per minute per user.

Cons:

  • Key social features, such as resizing and brand kits, need Pro or above.
  • It makes designs but does not post them; pair it with a scheduler.

Meta Ads logo9. Meta ads: paid social on Facebook and Instagram

What it is. Meta's ads MCP server overview says the server "is remote-hosted at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads and works with any MCP-compatible AI agent." Its seven tool categories include reporting, ad creation and management, catalogs, A/B tests and activity logs.

Best for: Teams that run paid social on Meta platforms.

Pricing: No MCP fee is listed in Meta's overview. Normal ad spend applies.

Pros:

  • Official and hosted by Meta.
  • Reporting and activity logs help you review what changed.
  • Works with any MCP client.

Cons:

  • It can "Create and edit ads, ad sets, and campaigns," so mistakes can spend money.
  • It covers ads, not organic posting.

How to roll out a social media MCP server safely

Social posts are public, and a wrong post on a brand account is hard to take back. Treat the first month as a pilot.

  1. Start with drafts. Ask the AI to save drafts only. Agorapulse enforces this today; with Buffer and Postiz, you have to ask for it.
  2. Keep approval prompts on. The MCP tools specification says people should be able to see and deny tool calls. Don't switch this off for bulk scheduling.
  3. Separate clients. Buffer has no per-organization scoping, so agencies may want one account per client. Our guide to excessive permissions in MCP explains why.
  4. Watch for injected text. Comments, DMs and mentions are written by strangers. Read MCP prompt injection before letting an AI act on inbox content.
  5. Score the server. Run each candidate through our MCP server risk checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Which social media schedulers have official MCP servers?

As of November 2026, Buffer, Hootsuite, Agorapulse and Postiz document their own servers, and Ayrshare offers one for developers. We could not find an official Sprout Social server; the ones we found are community projects.

Can the AI publish posts without me?

It depends on the server. Buffer's create_post and Postiz's schedulePostTool can publish immediately if you approve the call. Agorapulse says it left out "publish now," so every post is reviewed by a person first.

Is there a social listening MCP server?

Yes. Meltwater has a connector in Claude's directory, and Brand24 runs a server at mcp.brand24.com. Hootsuite's Lumen server also covers listening, though Hootsuite lists advanced Lumen listening on Enterprise only.

Does MCP cost extra on top of my social tool?

None of these vendors lists a separate MCP fee. But your plan still matters: Ayrshare needs Business for profiles, Meltwater lists MCP on higher plans, and Buffer's API limits depend on your plan.

Can I use one MCP server for many client brands?

Postiz has customer groups, Ayrshare has sub-profiles and Agorapulse limits each user to their own profiles. Buffer says one connection covers the whole account, so agencies often keep separate accounts per client.

Do these servers work with ChatGPT?

Hootsuite, Agorapulse, Postiz and Brand24 all name ChatGPT. Buffer lists guides for several clients, and Meta says its server works with any MCP-compatible agent. Check your ChatGPT plan, because custom MCP servers are limited to certain plans.
