Shopify Plans and Pricing Explained (2026): Every Plan Compared
Shopify Plans and Pricing Explained (2026): Every Plan Compared

As of October 2026, Shopify offers new US stores four main plans: Basic at $39 a month, Grow at $105, Advanced at $399 and Plus from $2,300. If you pay for a full year up front, Basic, Grow and Advanced work out to $29, $79 and $299 a month. There is also a new $0 Agentic plan for brands that only want to sell through AI channels such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Mode.
The prices most people notice first on Shopify's pricing page are the yearly ones, because the page opens on the "Pay yearly" view. That's why so many articles quote $29, $79 and $299 as if they were monthly prices. Those figures are real, but you only get them if you pay twelve months in advance.
This guide covers every plan open to new stores, what each one adds, which older plans you can no longer pick, and how to choose. All figures are US prices taken from Shopify's pricing page in October 2026. Shopify shows local prices in other countries.

Key Takeaways
- Monthly billing costs $39 (Basic), $105 (Grow) and $399 (Advanced); yearly billing brings those down to $29, $79 and $299 a month.
- Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a 3-year term or $2,500 a month on a 1-year term, and larger businesses may pay a variable platform fee instead.
- The $0 Agentic plan lets brands sell in AI channels without a published Shopify online store, and you pay only when you make a sale.
- The main differences between paid plans are card rates, third-party gateway fees, staff accounts, shipping options and how far you can customize by market.
- Reports, inventory locations (10) and B2B (up to 3 catalogs) are no longer split by tier on Basic, Grow and Advanced.
- Starter, Lite and Retail are closed to new stores, and the old "Shopify" plan is now called Grow.
Shopify plans at a glance
Here's how the five plans compare on the numbers that most affect your bill. Card rates are the US online rates for standard cards through Shopify Payments.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing (per month) | Online card rate | Third-party gateway fee | Staff accounts | Inventory locations |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agentic | $0 | n/a | From 2.9% + 30¢ on direct-checkout orders | Applies if you use a third-party provider | Not listed | Not listed |
| Basic | $39 | $29 | 2.9% + 30¢ | 2% | None added | 10 |
| Grow | $105 | $79 | 2.7% + 30¢ | 1% | 5 | 10 |
| Advanced | $399 | $299 | 2.5% + 30¢ | 0.6% | 15 | 10 |
| Plus | From $2,300 (3-year term) or $2,500 (1-year term) | Sold on a term contract | From 2.25% + 30¢ | 0.2% (waived if Shopify Payments is your only provider) | Unlimited | 200 |
There are no setup fees on any plan. Your real monthly cost also includes payment processing, apps and any paid theme, which we break down in our guide to the total cost of running a Shopify store.
Basic ($39 a month): for solo founders
Basic gives you a full online store with unlimited products, Shopify's checkout, a blog, a free SSL certificate and the ability to sell on social channels, marketplaces and AI chats. You also get casual in-person selling through Shopify POS, Sidekick (Shopify's built-in AI assistant) and 24/7 live chat support.
Two things are missing on Basic. According to Shopify's Help Center, "The Basic plan doesn't support adding staff accounts," and you can't turn on third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates. If you need either, you'll have to move up to Grow or higher.
Payment rates on Basic are the highest of the paid plans:
- Online standard cards: 2.9% + 30¢
- Online premium cards (American Express and business cards): 3.5% + 30¢
- International cards: an extra 1%
- In-person cards: 2.6% + 10¢
- Third-party payment providers: 2% on top of your provider's own fee
Basic suits a founder running the store alone, selling online at modest volume and happy with flat-rate or Shopify-calculated shipping.
Grow ($105 a month): for small teams
Grow is the plan Shopify used to call "Shopify." The rename was confirmed in Shopify's developer changelog on 17 April 2025. It includes everything in Basic, plus:
- 5 staff accounts
- Lower card rates: 2.7% + 30¢ online, 3.3% + 30¢ for premium cards, 2.5% + 10¢ in person
- A 1% third-party gateway fee instead of 2%
- Shipping insurance of up to $200 on eligible labels when you use Shopify Payments, according to Shopify's shipping page
- Third-party calculated shipping rates as a paid add-on
Grow makes sense once you have a few people helping in the admin, or once your sales are high enough that the lower card rate covers the higher subscription. We do the break-even math in our Basic vs Grow vs Advanced comparison.
Advanced ($399 a month): for international and higher-volume stores
Advanced adds 15 staff accounts, the lowest card rates below Plus (2.5% + 30¢ online, 3.1% + 30¢ premium, 2.4% + 10¢ in person) and a 0.6% third-party gateway fee. Third-party calculated shipping rates are included rather than sold as an add-on.
The bigger reason to choose Advanced is international selling. Shopify's Help Center says the Advanced plan lets you customize your online store theme for each market, and customize your checkout and customer accounts pages for each market. Advanced also adds "predicted values" for certain reports, enhanced live chat support and higher API rate limits ("up to 2x on select APIs," according to the pricing page).
Plus (from $2,300 a month): for complex businesses
Shopify Plus is sold on a contract. The Plus pricing page says the plan "starts at $2,300 USD a month for standard setups and integrations on a 3-year term, or $2,500 USD per month for a 1-year term." More complex, higher-volume businesses move to a variable platform fee based on revenue, and Shopify doesn't publish that percentage.
Plus adds unlimited staff accounts, 200 inventory locations, full checkout customization, unlimited B2B catalogs, 20 POS Pro locations (up to 200 with Shopify Payments), up to 9 expansion stores, priority 24/7 support and Plus-only tools such as Launchpad, Combined Listings and Shopify Audiences. You can try it with a paid trial at $399 a month. Our Shopify Plus guide covers it in detail.
Agentic ($0 a month): for selling in AI channels
The Agentic plan was announced on 11 January 2026 and became publicly available on 24 March 2026. Shopify's Help Center says it "has no monthly subscription fee" and is aimed at merchants that don't already use Shopify as their ecommerce platform. It lets you add your products to Shopify Catalog and sell them through agentic storefronts in AI channels, without moving your existing store.
You pay payment fees when a customer completes a purchase in an AI channel's Shopify-powered direct checkout, plus the cost of any paid apps. You can build a Shopify online store on the plan, but it stays password-protected until you move to a paid plan. Publishing an online store, Shopify Messaging, selling gift cards, creating manual orders and Shop post-purchase offers aren't available on Agentic. See our guide to Shopify agentic commerce for the setup steps.
Monthly vs yearly billing: how much you save
Shopify's Help Center explains that "Annual billing charges the full year upfront and presents a lower effective monthly rate." Here's what that means in dollars:
| Plan | 12 months on monthly billing | 12 months on yearly billing | Yearly saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $39 × 12 = $468 | $29 × 12 = $348 | $120 |
| Grow | $105 × 12 = $1,260 | $79 × 12 = $948 | $312 |
| Advanced | $399 × 12 = $4,788 | $299 × 12 = $3,588 | $1,200 |
The catch is commitment. Shopify's Help Center notes that subscription charges are "generally non-refundable," so pay yearly only once you're confident in the plan. A sensible approach is to stay on monthly billing until your sales settle, then switch. Our Shopify free trial guide explains how the current 3-day trial and $1 offer work.
What every plan now includes
Older comparison articles split many features by tier. On the current pricing page, these are the same on Basic, Grow and Advanced:
- Reports: every plan lists "200+ real-time reports, plus custom analytics." The Basic plan help page says it "comes with access to all reports, including the ability to create custom reports."
- Inventory locations: 10 on Basic, Grow and Advanced (200 on Plus).
- B2B: since 2 April 2026, Basic, Grow and Advanced can sell wholesale with up to 3 catalogs, company profiles, payment terms and volume pricing.
- Products: unlimited products, with up to 2,048 variants per product and up to three options.
- Shipping: "Up to 87% off" shipping labels.
- Marketing: Shopify Messaging (formerly Shopify Email) for email campaigns, with SMS and WhatsApp in supported regions, and Shopify Flow for automation.
- AI: Sidekick and Shopify Magic tools.
- Hosting: unlimited web hosting, a free SSL certificate and a custom domain. Our Shopify security guide covers what else to lock down.
Some differences remain outside the headline table. Checkout customization is "Limited" on Basic, Grow and Advanced and "Full" on Plus. Basic has "Limited data access" for custom apps, while Grow and above have full data access.
POS Pro: the add-on for physical stores
Every paid plan includes what Shopify now calls "casual in-person selling," which covers pop-ups, markets and events. Shopify no longer uses the name "POS Lite." Retailers with a permanent shop can add POS Pro, which Shopify prices at "$89 USD/month billed yearly for each location." POS Pro adds unlimited staff roles and permissions, in-store inventory management, and in-store pickup and flexible delivery. Plus includes 20 POS Pro locations.
Plans you can no longer choose
If you've read older guides, you may see plans that new stores can't sign up for anymore:
- Starter: "The Starter plan isn't available to new stores." Existing Starter merchants who change plans can't go back to it.
- Lite: closed to new stores. It never included an online store.
- Retail: closed to new stores.
- "Shopify" plan: renamed Grow in April 2025. Same plan, new name.
- Commerce Components: now presented as "Shopify for enterprise," with pricing by contact only.
How to choose the right plan
- Not on Shopify and only want AI channel sales? Look at Agentic.
- Running the store alone? Start on Basic. You can upgrade at any time and your products and settings carry over.
- Need staff logins or calculated carrier rates? Grow is the first plan with staff accounts, and it offers carrier rates as an add-on.
- Selling in several countries with different themes or checkouts per market, or need more than 5 staff? Advanced.
- Need checkout customization beyond the Thank you page, unlimited B2B catalogs, expansion stores or more than 15 staff? Plus.
Then check the payment math. The higher plans only pay for themselves through lower rates once your card volume is large enough. Our Shopify transaction fees guide shows the per-sale costs with worked examples.
Conclusion
Shopify's pricing is simpler than it was a few years ago. Reports, locations and basic B2B no longer depend on your tier, so the choice comes down to card rates, staff accounts, shipping options and international customization. Start with the cheapest plan that covers your team and shipping needs, check your card volume against the break-even points, and switch to yearly billing once you're sure. Frequently asked questions
How much does Shopify cost per month in 2026?
On monthly billing, Basic is $39, Grow is $105 and Advanced is $399. On yearly billing they cost $29, $79 and $299 a month, paid up front for the year. Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a 3-year term. The Agentic plan is $0 a month.
Is there a free Shopify plan?
The Agentic plan has no monthly fee, but it's built for selling in AI channels and doesn't let you publish a Shopify online store. To run a public online store, you need Basic or higher. New stores can try Shopify for 3 days free, then pay $1 a month for 3 months on most plans.
What happened to the "Shopify" plan?
It was renamed Grow in April 2025. The features are the same, and the price is $105 a month on monthly billing or $79 a month on yearly billing.
Can I still sign up for Shopify Starter or Lite?
No. Shopify's Help Center says both plans aren't available to new stores. Merchants already on Starter can stay on it, but if they change plans they can't switch back.
Can I change my Shopify plan later?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade from Settings in your Shopify admin, and your Shopify Payments rate updates when you change plans. If you downgrade, anything above the new plan's limits, such as extra staff accounts or locations, may be deactivated.
