Wix Payments fees and payment options
Wix Payments fees and payment options

Wix Payments charges US merchants 2.9% + $0.30 for each online credit or debit card transaction, as of October 2026. American Express costs more, at 3.7% + $0.30. PayPal through Wix Payments is 3.49% + $0.49, and buy now, pay later providers such as Affirm, Afterpay and Klarna are 6% + $0.30. In-person card reader sales are 2.6% with no fixed fee.
Wix Payments is Wix's own payment processor, and it is optional. You can connect Stripe, PayPal, Square or another provider instead, and each of those sets its own rates. The processing fee is separate from your Wix plan, and you need a Core, Business or Business Elite plan before your site can accept payments at all.
This guide lists the US rates by payment method, explains when the money reaches your bank, and sets out how the main alternatives differ.
Key Takeaways
- US online card rate with Wix Payments: 2.9% + $0.30. American Express: 3.7% + $0.30.
- Buy now, pay later through Wix Payments (Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna) costs 6% + $0.30, and you are paid in full up front.
- When you refund an order, the original processing fee is not returned to you. A chargeback costs $15, or $20 for PayPal.
- Payouts can be daily, weekly or monthly. Each payment takes about 2 to 5 business days to process, then 3 to 5 business days to reach your bank.
- Wix Payments is available in 15 countries, including the United States, and excludes some business types.
- Only one provider can process credit cards on a site at a time.
What Wix Payments is
Wix Payments is the payment service Wix runs itself. When you use it, card payments, wallets, refunds, chargebacks and payouts are all managed inside your Wix dashboard, with no separate merchant account to log into. It accepts credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Tap to Pay on a phone and several installment providers.
The card brands it accepts are Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Diners, CUP, JCB and Maestro. The minimum transaction in the US is $1.
Two conditions apply before you can use it. The site must be on a paid plan that accepts payments, which rules out the free plan and Light. And the site must be published.
Wix Payments rates in the US
These are the per-transaction fees from Wix's service fees page for US accounts, as of October 2026.
| Payment method | Fee per transaction | Fee on a $100 sale |
|---|---|---|
| Credit or debit card (not American Express) | 2.9% + $0.30 | $3.20 |
| Apple Pay or Google Pay (not American Express) | 2.9% + $0.30 | $3.20 |
| American Express, including through Apple Pay and Google Pay | 3.7% + $0.30 | $4.00 |
| PayPal through Wix Payments | 3.49% + $0.49 | $3.98 |
| Venmo | 3.49% + $0.49 | $3.98 |
| PayPal Pay Later | 4.99% + $0.49 | $5.48 |
| Affirm, Afterpay or Klarna | 6% + $0.30 | $6.30 |
| Wix POS card reader | 2.6% + $0 | $2.60 |
| Tap to Pay on a phone | 2.6% + $0.20 | $2.80 |
| Manual card entry | 3.5% + $0.30 | $3.80 |
| Manual card entry, American Express | 4.3% + $0.30 | $4.60 |
The last column is simple arithmetic to show the effect of each rate. Wix's marketing page describes "one fixed fee for all credit cards," but the fee schedule charges American Express more, so plan with the schedule.
There is no extra fee for offering Apple Pay. The regular Wix Payments rate applies. Wix's US fee list does not include a rate for ACH bank payments. Wix says other providers can be connected alongside Wix Payments for methods such as ACH.
Extra fees: international sales, refunds and chargebacks
Cross-border and currency conversion
For US accounts, a cross-border fee of 1.5% of the transaction is added on top of the standard processing fee where it applies. If you sell in more than one currency, a 1% currency conversion fee is added as well. Wix combines these into a single "Fees" amount on the transaction.
Refunds
Wix does not charge an extra fee to issue a refund, but it keeps the original processing fee. Wix's own example: refund a $100 order and the original $2.90 + $0.30 is not paid back to you. If your return rate is high, build that into your margins.
Chargebacks
A chargeback is when a customer disputes a charge with their bank. The US fee is $15 for Wix Payments transactions and $20 for PayPal transactions through Wix Payments. Wix notes that exceptions may apply.
Buy now, pay later
US merchants on Wix Payments can offer Affirm, Afterpay and Klarna. The shopper is sent to the provider's site to create or use an account, and pays the provider over time. You are paid in full up front, less the 6% + $0.30 fee.
That fee is roughly double the card rate, so it suits higher-priced products where spreading the cost changes the buying decision.
Apple Pay and Google Pay can only be used for full payments, not for installments or deposits.
When you get paid
Money from a sale does not go straight to your bank. It passes through two stages.
- Processing. Each payment is processed for usually 2 to 5 business days. That covers settlement and a pending period.
- Payout. The payment then joins your next scheduled payout. Once sent, a payout should arrive in your bank account within 3 to 5 business days.
You choose a daily, weekly or monthly payout schedule. Weekly payouts default to Monday and monthly payouts to the 1st, and you can change both. To set it, go to Accept Payments → Manage next to Wix Payments → Payout schedule → Save. The daily cut-off for US accounts is 6AM EST.
Three more points from Wix's payout documentation:
- Your first payout is slower. After the first payment, funds become available within an average of 7 days, then take 3 to 5 business days to reach the bank.
- A payout is only made once your available balance is at least $1.
- Wix may hold part of each payout as a rolling reserve, or hold a one-time reserve, to cover chargebacks or refunds.
Where Wix Payments is available, and who can't use it
Wix Payments supports 15 countries: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. In Brazil it is currently open only to existing Wix Payments users.
Being in a supported country is not enough on its own. Wix publishes a list of prohibited products and services for US accounts. It includes adult goods and content, many financial businesses such as credit repair, debt collection and payday loans, prescription medicine, regulated medical devices, and supplements containing CBD or THC. Read the list before you rely on Wix Payments.
US businesses that sell hemp and hemp-derived CBD can use partner providers that Wix names, including Square, Bankful, Priority Payments and Evergreen Payments Northwest, after completing a declaration form.
Setting up Wix Payments
- Go to Accept Payments in your site's dashboard.
- Click Connect next to Wix Payments.
- Turn on the payment methods you want to offer and click Continue.
- Click Complete Setup and choose your business type: individual or sole proprietorship, or a registered company.
- Enter your identification, address, bank and business details.
- Accept the terms and click Submit.
Wix then verifies the account. You can start taking payments before verification finishes, but there is a deadline. From your first transaction you have 30 days to complete setup and verification. If you miss it, the account is suspended and the site can't accept payments.
Third-party providers: Stripe, PayPal and Square
Wix supports dozens of other payment providers. For US businesses the usual alternatives are Stripe, PayPal and Square. Wix states that each provider sets its own rates and fees, and payouts are handled by the provider, not by Wix.
| Provider | US online card rate (October 2026) | Recurring payments on Wix | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wix Payments | 2.9% + $0.30 | Yes, cards only | Managed in the Wix dashboard. Required for Wix POS. |
| Stripe | 2.9% + $0.30 for domestic cards | Yes, cards only | Minimum charge $0.50. Payouts are handled by Stripe. |
| PayPal (your own account) | PayPal Checkout 3.49% + $0.49 | Yes, with a PayPal Business account | Custom checkout fields may not show for PayPal shoppers. |
| Square | 2.9% to 3.3% + $0.30, depending on your Square plan | Not on Wix's recurring list | Also supports Cash App Pay and in-person sales. |
The rates in the table come from each provider's own pricing page: Stripe, PayPal and Square. They change, and some depend on your plan or volume with that provider, so check before you decide.
Stripe
Stripe's US rate for domestic cards matches Wix Payments. Stripe adds 1.5% for international cards and 1% when currency conversion is required. To connect it, go to Accept Payments → See More Payment Options → See Options next to Third-Party Credit / Debit Card Providers → Connect next to Stripe. The currency in your Wix account must match the currency in your Stripe account or transactions may be declined.
PayPal
PayPal can be connected two ways. Through Wix Payments, a new PayPal account is created and sales are managed in the Wix dashboard at the 3.49% + $0.49 rate above. Or you connect your existing PayPal account, and PayPal bills you directly.
Square
Square through Wix supports cards, Cash App Pay, Afterpay and in-person sales. The minimum payment is $0.49, or $1 for Cash App Pay. Square is not on Wix's list of providers that support recurring payments, which matters if you plan to sell subscriptions.
Wix's own transaction fees
The fee Wix publishes for store orders is the processing fee of whichever provider you connect. For Wix Payments that is the schedule above.
There is one place where Wix publishes a platform fee of its own. If you sell memberships or packages through the Pricing Plans app, Wix charges a transaction fee on those charges based on your site plan: 4% on Core, 2% on Business and 0% on Business Elite. It applies to one-time and recurring payments for pricing plans, and it is in addition to the processing fee. We explain where this matters in selling subscriptions on Wix.
If you use a third-party provider for store orders, confirm the full cost on a real transaction: compare the order total in Wix with the amount the provider pays out, and ask Wix support if anything doesn't match the provider's published rate.
How to choose a provider
- Choose Wix Payments if you want everything in one dashboard, plan to sell in person with Wix POS, or want to authorize cards now and capture later. That last feature works only with Wix Payments, for credit cards, and holds the authorization for 7 days.
- Choose Stripe if you already use Stripe elsewhere and want one place for all your payment reporting.
- Choose Square if your shop already runs on Square hardware in person and you don't need subscriptions.
- Add PayPal as a second method beside your card processor if your customers expect it.
Remember that only one provider can process credit cards at a time. You can't route some cards through Stripe and others through Wix Payments.
Payment fees are one line of your store's costs. Your Wix plan is another, and we break that down in Wix plans compared and in our wider look at what a Wix website costs. For the broader picture of running a store on the platform, see our Wix Stores guide.
Conclusion
For a US store, Wix Payments costs 2.9% + $0.30 on most card sales, which is the same headline rate Stripe publishes. The differences are in the details: American Express at 3.7%, installment providers at 6%, processing fees that aren't returned on refunds, and one to two weeks between a sale and your bank. Check that your business type is allowed, pick a payout schedule that suits your cash flow, and finish verification inside the 30-day window.
