Business email on a Wix site: options, costs and DNS setup
Business email on a Wix site: options, costs and DNS setup

A Wix site plan doesn't include a mailbox. To get an address like you@yourbusiness.com, you either buy Google Workspace through Wix or connect a mailbox from another provider to your domain. Both work with a Wix site, and neither affects how the website itself runs.
Buying through Wix is the least setup: Wix resells Google Workspace in three plans, and a Wix article lists them at $7, $14 and $22 per user per month. Using an outside provider means billing stays with that provider, and you add its MX records, the DNS entries that route incoming mail, either in Wix or at your DNS host depending on how your domain is connected. Whichever you choose, set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your messages are trusted by other mail servers.
Key Takeaways
- No Wix site plan includes business email. It's a separate purchase, and you don't need an active site plan to buy it, only a domain in your account.
- Business email from Wix means Google Workspace: Business Starter, Business Standard or Business Plus.
- Storage per user is 30 GB on Starter, 2 TB on Standard and 5 TB on Plus.
- Google Workspace bought through Wix is non-refundable, and only upgrades to a higher tier are supported.
- You can connect only one email provider to a domain.
- MX records can be edited in Wix only if the domain uses Wix name servers. With pointing, you edit them at your DNS host.

There isn't a Wix-built mailbox product in Wix's current documentation, and the Microsoft 365 mailboxes Wix once resold are no longer sold. You can still use Microsoft 365, or any other provider, by connecting it yourself. To see how a mailbox fits with your other bills, read our Wix website cost guide.
Google Workspace through Wix
Google Workspace is Google's paid business suite: Gmail at your own domain, plus Calendar, Drive, Meet and the document apps. Wix resells three plans.
| Plan | Storage per user | Price listed by Wix, per user per month |
|---|---|---|
| Business Starter | 30 GB | $7 |
| Business Standard | 2 TB | $14 |
| Business Plus | 5 TB | $22 |
A note on those prices. They come from a Wix blog article on business email costs, which says plans are "priced at $7, $14 and $22 per user per month" and that you can pay monthly or yearly. It doesn't say which billing period each figure applies to, and it isn't the checkout page. Treat the numbers as a guide as of October 2026 and confirm the total on the purchase screen, where you choose Monthly or Yearly.
Other facts from Wix's help center:
- Plans are billed per user, so five mailboxes cost five times the per-user price.
- Wix states that all Workspace plans now include access to the Google Gemini AI assistant.
- You can have up to 300 business emails, buying up to 20 per transaction.
- Only upgrades to a higher Workspace tier are supported, so start on the tier you need and move up later if required.
- The mailbox is tied to the domain, not the website. It works even when the site is unpublished.
- You can't connect business email to a subdomain in Wix.
Storage is the main practical difference between the tiers. Thirty gigabytes per person is plenty for email alone and fills faster if the team also keeps files in Drive.
How to buy and set it up through Wix
You need a domain in your Wix account first. See domains on Wix: buying, connecting and DNS if you haven't connected one.
- Go to Business Email in your Wix account.
- Click Get a Business Email.
- Set the number of mailboxes you need.
- Enter the prefix for each one, such as "hello" or a person's name.
- Choose a plan.
- Choose Monthly or Yearly.
- Click Continue to Checkout, then Submit Purchase.
- Wait at least 5 minutes, then go back to Business Email and click Setup Business Email to finish creating the account.
The steps are in Wix's guide to purchasing a business email. One exception: if your domain is connected to Wix by pointing, your DNS lives at another host, so you must add Google's MX records there yourself.
A tip on prefixes: use role addresses such as info@ or billing@ for anything that should outlive a staff change, and personal addresses for individuals.
Using a provider outside Wix
If you already have email with Google, Microsoft or another service, keep it. Billing stays with that provider and you only tell your domain where to deliver mail.
If your domain uses Wix name servers or was bought from Wix
- Go to Domains in your Wix account.
- Click the Domain Actions icon next to the domain.
- Select Connect an email purchased outside of Wix or Edit MX records.
- Pick your provider from the list. If it isn't listed, choose Other and enter each mail server in "Points to," lowest priority number first.
- Click Save.
If your domain is connected by pointing
Wix can't edit your DNS in this case. Log in to your DNS host, usually the company you bought the domain from, and add the MX records your email provider gives you.
Moving DNS to Wix when email already works
This is the most common way a website project breaks email. When you connect a domain by name servers, Wix imports your existing MX records automatically, but other records, such as the CNAME and TXT records used for verification and authentication, must be re-added by hand. Copy every record before you switch. Wix's own tip is that if Microsoft 365 email is already working, connecting by pointing avoids re-adding the records.
Two more rules: you can't connect mailboxes from more than one provider to the same domain, and Wix's help center says an existing email account can't be transferred to Wix. Wix's business email sales page mentions migrating an existing Google Workspace account, so if that matters to you, ask Wix support before you buy. Otherwise, plan to buy Workspace new and move your mail across yourself.
SPF, DKIM and DMARC in plain terms
These three DNS records are how receiving mail servers decide whether a message that claims to be from your domain is genuine.
- SPF lists the services allowed to send mail for your domain.
- DKIM adds a digital signature to each message, which the receiver checks against a key published in your DNS.
- DMARC tells receivers what to do when a message fails those checks, and where to send reports.
They aren't optional extras. Google's email sender guidelines tell all senders to set up SPF or DKIM for their sending domains, and require SPF, DKIM and DMARC for bulk senders, which Google defines as those sending 5,000 or more messages a day to Gmail accounts.
Adding the records in Wix
Your email provider supplies the exact values. In Wix they're all added the same way, when your DNS is managed at Wix:
- Go to Domains and click the Domain Actions icon.
- Select Manage DNS Records.
- In the TXT (Text) section, click + Add Record.
- For SPF, paste the value your provider gives you. For DKIM, put the selector in Host Name and the signature in Value. Wix supports key lengths of 2048 or 1024.
- Save the record and the changes.
Where a provider tells you to use "@" as the host, leave the Host Name field blank in Wix.
For DMARC, Wix doesn't publish a dedicated help article. Because TXT records are editable, a DMARC record can be added the same way, using the host name and value from your email provider's instructions. If more than one service sends mail for your domain, ask your providers how to combine them in your SPF record.
Mail sent by your Wix site is a separate matter
Your mailbox is one sender. Your website is another. Form notifications, order confirmations and email campaigns are sent by Wix's systems, not from your Workspace mailbox, and they have their own authentication.
- For Wix Email Marketing, authentication is automatic when the domain was bought from Wix or uses Wix name servers. For domains hosted elsewhere it's a manual step where you copy CNAME records to your DNS host.
- If the domain isn't authenticated, campaigns can go out with a Wix sending domain attached.
- Connecting your business email as a channel in Wix Inbox makes outgoing site emails send from that address.
If site emails are landing in junk, start with Wix emails going to spam. Campaign limits and setup are in Wix Email Marketing: plans, limits and setup.
Billing, renewal and canceling
- No refunds. Wix states that Google Workspace business emails purchased through Wix are non-refundable. The 14-day money-back guarantee on site plans doesn't extend to them.
- Renewal. Wix attempts renewal up to 30 days before expiry.
- Canceling. Go to Premium Subscriptions, click the More Actions icon, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts to Cancel Now. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
- After expiry. You can't read, send or receive. Data follows Google's retention policy and is restored if you repurchase in time. Export anything important before a mailbox lapses.
- It's separate from your site plan. Canceling the website doesn't cancel the mailbox, and the reverse is also true. Our guide to canceling a Wix plan lists what has to be canceled individually.
If you move your site or domain later
Think about this before you buy, because it's the main trade-off of the Wix route.
A mailbox bought through Wix is billed through Wix. If you leave, Wix says the mailbox can only be moved to Google directly, through Wix Customer Care, and that this is an irreversible action. Inside Wix, a business email only moves to another Wix account together with its site, plan and domain.
If you transfer your domain to another registrar, Wix says you need to add the MX records again after the transfer, so plan for mail to be interrupted until they're in place at the new DNS host. The safe sequence is in how to transfer a domain away from Wix.
A mailbox bought directly from Google or another provider avoids that dependency. The cost is a second bill and a few DNS records to manage.
Which option to choose
- Buy through Wix if you're a small team, your domain is at Wix, and you value one login and one bill over independence.
- Buy from Google directly if you expect to change website platforms at some point, or your IT provider manages Workspace for you.
- Keep your existing provider if email already works. Connect the website and leave the mail alone, using pointing if you want to avoid touching DNS records.
Conclusion
Email at your own domain is a separate product from your Wix site, and that separation is useful: the mailbox follows the domain, not the website. Buying Google Workspace through Wix is quick and keeps billing in one place, while an outside provider keeps your email independent of the platform. In both cases the work that protects you is in the DNS: correct MX records, SPF, DKIM, a DMARC policy, and a saved copy of all of them before any domain change. Frequently asked questions
Does a Wix plan come with a business email?
No. Wix states that a plan does not include a business email. It's bought separately, and it doesn't require an active site plan, only a domain in your account.
How much does business email cost through Wix?
A Wix article lists Google Workspace plans at $7, $14 and $22 per user per month, as of October 2026. It doesn't state the billing period for each figure, so confirm the price at checkout.
Can I use my existing Gmail or Microsoft 365 business email with a Wix site?
Yes. Connect it by adding the provider's MX records, in Wix if your domain uses Wix name servers, or at your DNS host if the domain is connected by pointing.
Why did my email stop working after I connected my domain to Wix?
If you switched to Wix name servers, Wix imported your MX records but not other records such as CNAME and TXT entries. Re-add the missing records under Domains, Domain Actions, Manage DNS Records.
Can I get a refund on a Wix business email?
No. Wix states that Google Workspace business emails purchased through Wix are non-refundable.
Can I add SPF, DKIM and DMARC records in Wix?
Yes, when your DNS is managed at Wix. SPF and DKIM are added as TXT records under Manage DNS Records. Wix has no dedicated DMARC article, but a DMARC record is also a TXT record and is added the same way.
