Wix Email Marketing: plans, limits and setup
Wix Email Marketing: plans, limits and setup

Wix Email Marketing lets you send 200 emails a month for free, as of October 2026. Within that balance you can send as many separate campaigns as you like. To send more, you upgrade to one of three paid email plans, Essentials, Core or Advanced, which are bought separately from your Wix site plan.
Wix doesn't publish the prices or monthly send limits of those paid plans on its help pages. They appear in the upgrade screen inside your dashboard, so check them there before you budget. What Wix does document clearly is how the balance works, what the paid plans add, and how to set up your sender address so campaigns come from your own domain. This guide covers those.
Key Takeaways
- The free allowance is 200 emails a month, with no limit on the number of campaigns inside it.
- Email marketing plans are separate from site plans. The plan names are Free, Essentials, Core and Advanced.
- Paid plans add a larger allowance, removal of Wix branding, scheduling, sending from multiple addresses and, on Core and Advanced, campaign web links on your own domain.
- Campaigns and emails sent by automations you created count against the balance. Test emails and transactional app emails don't.
- Authentication is automatic for domains bought from Wix or connected by Wix name servers, and manual for domains hosted elsewhere.
- For a large, new or unverified list, Wix sends to a sample first and holds the rest if bounces exceed 2%.
What you get for free
The free plan gives you 200 emails per month. An "email" here means one message to one recipient, so a campaign sent to 150 subscribers uses 150 of the 200.
Wix states that campaigns are unlimited in number "as long as you stay within your monthly email limit". Four campaigns to 50 people each fits. One campaign to 250 doesn't.
The free balance resets on the 1st of each month at 00:01 UTC. Wix's pages don't mention any rollover of unused emails, so treat the 200 as a monthly ceiling. For a business with a small list and a monthly newsletter, the free plan can be enough. Site plan costs are a separate matter, covered in our Wix website cost guide.
The email marketing plans
You upgrade from Email Marketing in the dashboard by clicking Upgrade under Monthly Balance. Wix says email marketing plans are separate from site plans, and its site plans page lists no email allowance, so don't expect a higher site plan to raise it.
| What you get | Free | Paid plans (Essentials, Core, Advanced) |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly allowance | 200 emails | Larger; the amount per plan is shown at checkout |
| Wix branding on emails | Shown | Removal is listed as a paid feature |
| Schedule emails in advance | Listed as a paid feature | Listed by Wix; confirm which plan at checkout |
| Send from multiple email addresses | Listed as a paid feature | Listed by Wix; confirm which plan at checkout |
| Web link for a campaign | A shoutout.wix.com address | Essentials: a shoutout.wix.com address. Core and Advanced: your connected domain |
| When the balance resets | 1st of the month, 00:01 UTC | Your purchase date and time each month |
The web link is the address people see when they open a campaign in a browser or when you share it. On Free and Essentials it sits on a Wix address. On Core and Advanced it uses your own domain if one is connected. Wix lists the paid features in its email marketing upgrade article.
When you compare the plans at checkout, look at three things: the monthly send limit against your list size multiplied by how often you send, whether the price shown is billed monthly or yearly, and how many emails your automations will use on top of campaigns.
What counts against your monthly balance
| Counts | Doesn't count |
|---|---|
| Campaigns you send, schedule or resend | Test emails |
| Emails sent by custom automations (ones you created) | Transactional emails from app automations, such as order confirmations, shipping notices and password resets |
| Emails sent by the AI Custom Agent | Sharing a campaign you already published |
Two details are easy to miss. Scheduling a campaign deducts the emails immediately, not on the send date. And automation emails share the same pool. If you set up an automatic reply to every form submission, each reply uses one email. We explain how to plan for that in Wix Automations: what to automate first.
What happens when you reach the limit
No new campaigns send. Custom automations stop sending emails, and so do promotional app automations. Wix says app automations that are "business transactional or business critical" continue, so a store's order confirmations aren't cut off. The full rules are in Wix's monthly balance article.
Your sender address and domain authentication
Authentication is how a mail provider such as Gmail checks that an email claiming to be from your business really is. It relies on records published in your domain's DNS, the settings that tell the internet where your domain's services live. Without it, campaigns are more likely to be filtered as spam.
What Wix does depends on the address you send from:
- A public address such as Gmail, Yahoo or AOL. Wix automatically changes the sender to an authenticated wixshoutout.com address. Replies still go to your reply-to address.
- A custom domain that isn't authenticated. Wix adds one of its own authenticated domains as a "Wix signature". Authenticating the domain removes it.
- A custom domain that is authenticated. The campaign is sent as your domain, with no Wix signature.
The third option is the one to aim for. If you don't yet have a mailbox on your domain, see business email on a Wix site.
Automatic or manual
Authentication is automatic if you bought the domain from Wix or connected it using Wix name servers. It's manual if the domain's DNS is hosted elsewhere, or if you used the domain in your sender details before connecting it to Wix. Domains connected by pointing fall into the manual group: DNS stays with your domain host, campaigns may show a Wix sending address until you authenticate, and Wix says to contact that host about record problems. The two connection methods are explained in domains on Wix: buying, connecting and DNS.
Manual authentication steps
- Go to Email Marketing and open Sender Details, then Manage Senders.
- Enter a sender name and a reply-to address on your custom domain.
- Confirm the address with the code Wix emails to it.
- Next to the "Not authenticated" status, click Authenticate this domain.
- Copy the CNAME records Wix shows into your DNS host. Some hosts want only the first part of the host name, for example s1._domainkey, and add your domain themselves.
- Wait. Wix says it can take a few hours and to allow up to 24 hours.
Wix states that with the fifth CNAME record, a DMARC record for your domain is set up automatically. DMARC is the policy that tells mail providers what to do with messages that fail the checks. The steps are in Wix's domain authentication article. If you already have a DMARC record or use another email service on the same domain, have someone who knows DNS review the records before adding more.
Build the list the right way
Wix's rules and its sending systems both assume that everyone on your list asked to be there.
- Email only subscribers. When you import contacts, the "Mark as email subscribers" checkbox is meant only for people who agreed to join your mailing list.
- Don't buy lists. Purchased lists violate Wix's terms. They often contain spam traps, which are addresses used to catch senders who email people without permission. Hitting one can get your email marketing account restricted or deactivated.
- Use double opt-in. This means a new subscriber confirms by clicking a link in a first email. Wix recommends it.
- Clean the list at least twice a year. That is Wix's own guidance.
- Include your business name, physical address and an unsubscribe link. Wix lists these as deliverability practices. Email laws also apply to marketing messages, and this guide isn't legal advice. An attorney can confirm what your business must include.
Sign-up forms and contact imports are covered in Wix Forms and the built-in CRM.
Sending controls Wix applies
Wix protects its sending reputation with automatic controls. They can look like faults if you don't know they exist.
Sample mailing
For a large, new or unverified list, Wix sends to a portion first. If bounces exceed 2%, the rest is held and the campaign shows "Not sent to all". A bounce is an email that couldn't be delivered, usually because the address is wrong or closed. Wix says Customer Care can't override this. The fix is a cleaner list.
Throttling
If a campaign generates bounces, spam complaints, spam-trap hits or low engagement, Wix slows its distribution. Some recipients may not get the email for 24 to 48 hours, and the campaign can be ended.
Spam complaints
Wix's benchmark is that "a good spam complaint percentage is 0.02%", which is 1 complaint per 5,000 recipients. To see who complained, filter Contacts by the email deliverability status "is spam complaint". Wix explains its approach in its deliverability article.
Two points about reading results. A campaign that lands in a recipient's spam folder still shows as "delivered" in your dashboard. And test emails are sent from a default Wix testing address, not your authenticated domain, so a test landing in spam, in Wix's words, "does not mean your live campaign is broken". For a full walkthrough of spam-folder problems, see Wix emails going to spam.
A first-campaign checklist
- Set your sender name and a reply-to address on your own domain.
- Authenticate the domain and wait for the status to change.
- Import or collect subscribers, marking only people who opted in.
- Write the campaign with a balance of text and images. Wix warns that an email made of a single large image is likely to be marked as spam.
- Send a test to check layout and links, knowing the test comes from a Wix address.
- Check your remaining balance against the size of the audience.
- If the list is new, start with smaller sends and raise volume gradually. Wix recommends warming up this way.
- Review delivery, opens, clicks, bounces and complaints afterward.
Wix Email Marketing tags its links with utm_source=so automatically, so visits from campaigns can be identified in Wix Analytics traffic reports.
Who Wix Email Marketing suits
It suits a business whose customer list already lives in Wix. Contacts from store purchases, sign-ups and form submissions feed the same list, segments update on their own, and there is nothing to sync. For a monthly newsletter and a few automated messages, that convenience is hard to beat.
A dedicated email platform may fit better if email is a main sales channel for you, if you need long automated sequences with detailed testing, or if your list is managed outside Wix. Using one alongside a Wix site means keeping two systems in step. Neither choice is wrong. The deciding questions are where your customer data lives and how much of your revenue depends on email.
Conclusion
Wix Email Marketing gives you 200 free emails a month and a simple path to sending from your own authenticated domain. Before upgrading, check the paid plans' prices and limits in your dashboard, add up what your campaigns and automations will use, and get authentication finished first. Frequently asked questions
How many emails can I send for free with Wix?
200 emails a month as of October 2026. You can split them across as many campaigns as you like. The free balance resets on the 1st of each month at 00:01 UTC.
How much do the paid Wix email plans cost?
Wix doesn't list the prices on its public help pages. They're shown when you click Upgrade under Monthly Balance in the Email Marketing section of your dashboard. Note whether the price shown is billed monthly or yearly.
Does my Wix site plan include more emails?
Not according to Wix's published pages. Wix states that email marketing plans are separate from site plans, and its site plans page lists no email allowance.
Do order confirmation emails use my balance?
No. Transactional emails sent by app automations, such as order confirmations, shipping notices and password resets, don't count, and they keep sending when the balance is used up.
Why does my campaign say "Not sent to all"?
Wix sent the campaign to a sample of the list first and the bounce rate was above 2%, so the rest was held. Remove invalid and old addresses and send again to a cleaner list. Wix's support team can't override the hold.
