Nonprofit Website Design. Built to be trusted and funded.

A nonprofit site has to do several jobs at once: convince a first-time donor, satisfy a program officer doing diligence, help a beneficiary find a service, and hold up under a board's scrutiny. We build sites that do all four without needing a full-time webmaster to keep them standing.

The problem

Three audiences, one budget

Nonprofit sites are usually built for donors and then quietly asked to serve everyone else too. The program officer doing diligence cannot find the annual report. The beneficiary cannot work out whether they qualify for the service. The board wants impact reporting that the CMS was never designed to produce.

Budget makes it harder, not easier: the work is often grant-funded, which means a fixed amount, a defined period, and a requirement to show what was delivered. We scope to that reality — fixed pricing, a real timeline, and documentation your funder can be shown.

Scope

What we build for nonprofits

💚

Donation journeys

Giving flows designed to be completed on a phone, with recurring options handled properly and the receipt and thank-you sequence treated as part of the design rather than an afterthought.

Program and service directories

Structured so a beneficiary can find what they qualify for, and so eligibility rules read clearly in plain language.

Grant-ready documentation

Annual reports, IRS filings, impact data and board information that a program officer can locate in diligence without emailing you for it.

Donor and member data you own

CRM integration where constituent data sits in systems you control rather than rented per-seat. See our guide to donor-retention CRM design.

Google Ad Grant readiness

Eligible 501(c)(3)s can receive in-kind Google Ads spend, but the grant has site and account requirements that a typical nonprofit site does not meet out of the box. We build with those constraints in mind.

Getting cited by AI assistants

Program details, eligibility and hours that answer engines quote accurately — the subject of our guide to GEO for nonprofits.

Non-negotiables

What we build in regardless of budget

A smaller budget changes the scope, not the baseline.

WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, verified rather than asserted
Plain-language content that a beneficiary under stress can actually follow
Donation and contact flows tested with a keyboard and a screen reader
Migration that preserves existing URLs, including campaign and appeal pages
Documents that stay findable — annual reports, filings, policies, impact data
Constituent data handled in systems the organization owns
A written handover so a volunteer or new hire can maintain the site

Selected work

Mission-driven clients we have built for

Our nonprofit and mission-driven work includes the Assistance League, Literacy Imagined, The Inclusive Educator and a range of faith-based and conservation organizations. Work we cannot publish openly is available on request.

If you are issuing a formal solicitation rather than hiring directly, the nonprofit and public sector pillar explains how we respond to RFPs, and you can submit the documents for a fit review inside two business days.

Questions

Nonprofit questions

We are grant-funded with a fixed amount. Can you work to that?
Yes. Tell us the number and the period up front. We will tell you honestly what fits inside it and what does not, rather than scoping a project that runs past the grant window.
Do you help with the Google Ad Grant?
We build sites that meet the grant's site-side requirements and structure content so campaigns have somewhere sensible to land. The account application and ongoing policy compliance sit with your team or your Ads manager.
Can our volunteers maintain the site afterwards?
That is the intent of the handover. You get written documentation of the architecture, accounts and editing instructions, and we keep the editing model simple enough that a non-technical volunteer can use it.
Does accessibility really apply to nonprofits?
Yes. Public-accommodation obligations and funder conditions both reach nonprofit websites, and the practical argument is stronger than the legal one: an inaccessible site excludes the people you exist to serve.
Will our existing donation history and URLs survive a rebuild?
Donation records live in your CRM or payment processor, and we integrate rather than replace them. URLs are mapped before launch so appeal pages and campaign links keep working.
