Wix vs Webflow: pricing, design control, CMS and SEO compared
Wix vs Webflow: pricing, design control, CMS and SEO compared

Wix and Webflow both let you build a site visually without writing code, but they are built for different people. Wix is an all-in-one platform for business owners: the store, bookings, email marketing and members area are built in. Webflow is a visual front end for the way websites are actually coded, with CSS layout tools, a structured CMS and code export. It gives a trained designer more precision and asks more of a beginner.
Price alone won't decide it. As of October 2026, a Wix plan costs $17 to $159 per month billed yearly. A Webflow Site plan costs $15 or $25 per month billed yearly, and Webflow bills team access separately through a Workspace plan. Webflow also changed its plans in May 2026.
This article compares the two for a business deciding where to build. If you're a designer or agency choosing between the professional tools, read our Wix Studio vs Webflow comparison instead.
Key Takeaways
- As of October 2026, Wix plans are $17, $29, $39 and $159 per month billed yearly. Webflow Site plans are Basic at $15 and Premium at $25 per month billed yearly ($25 and $39 month-to-month).
- On May 13, 2026, Webflow replaced its CMS and Business site plans with one Premium plan for new purchases. Existing sites move over from June 29, 2026.
- Webflow bills in two layers: a Site plan per site, plus an optional Workspace plan for seats, staging sites and code export.
- Wix paid plans include unlimited bandwidth. Webflow Basic includes 10 GB and Premium 50 GB, expandable with paid add-ons.
- Webflow can export a site's HTML, CSS and JavaScript on paid Workspace plans, without CMS content. A Wix site can't be exported.
- Wix includes a members area and email marketing. Webflow shut down its User Accounts feature on January 29, 2026 and points to third-party tools.

The second Webflow bill: Workspace plans
A Webflow Site plan covers hosting and features for one site. Who can work on it, how many unpublished staging sites you can keep and whether you can export code are set by the Workspace plan. The Starter Workspace is free and includes one full seat. Paid Workspaces for in-house teams are Core at $19 and Growth at $49 per month billed yearly. For freelancers and agencies they are Freelancer at $16 and Agency at $35. Extra full seats are $39 per seat per month billed yearly.
A solo owner can run one site on the free Workspace and pay only for the Site plan. A team that wants several editors, or wants code export, pays for both layers.
How Wix bills
Wix has one layer. Each plan covers one site and includes its collaborator seats: 2 on Light, 5 on Core, 10 on Business and 100 on Business Elite. Wix's plans page shows yearly-billing prices only, and the month-to-month price appears at checkout. Wix Studio sites use separate Studio plans at $19, $27, $34 and $159 per month billed yearly. See Wix plans compared for the detail.

Design control and learning curve
How Webflow works
Webflow's Designer exposes the building blocks of a web page. You lay out pages with CSS flexbox and CSS grid, plus an element called Quick Stack that combines the two. You start on the desktop breakpoint and styles cascade down to tablet and two mobile sizes, and up to three optional larger sizes. Webflow's newer interaction system runs on the GSAP animation engine. It launched in summer 2025 and is the default on new sites.
That precision has a cost. Webflow itself recommends learning the basics, including "positioning and layout basics," through its Webflow 101 course before you use a template. A template also can't be applied to an existing site. You start a new site from it.
How Wix works
Wix splits the same range across three editors. The Wix Editor lets you place elements freely and edit a separate mobile view. The Harmony Editor, released in January 2026, is automatically responsive and has an AI assistant called Aria. The Studio Editor is the closest to Webflow: it has breakpoints, layout tools built on CSS grid and flexbox, and custom CSS. You can't move a site between the Wix Editor and the Studio Editor later, so pick with care. Our Wix Studio vs Wix Editor guide covers that choice.
The practical difference
A business owner can usually get a presentable Wix site live without training. A Webflow site built by someone who knows the tool can be more exact, and its structure maps directly to standard HTML and CSS. If nobody on your team will learn Webflow, budget for a designer both to build the site and to change it later.
CMS and content
Both platforms have a CMS: a database of structured content, such as team members or case studies, that fills page templates automatically.
- Webflow: the CMS is built from Collections and Collection items, and a blog is simply a Collection of posts. It comes with the Premium plan, with 20,000 items and 40 Collections. The Basic plan has no CMS. Collections import and export as CSV.
- Wix: CMS collections connect to page elements and to dynamic pages. Item limits count across all collections on a site: 1,500 on Light, 4,000 on Core, 20,000 on Business and 10,000,000 on Business Elite. Wix Blog is a separate app with its own settings. Collections import and export as CSV. The SEO side is covered in our guide to SEO for Wix CMS dynamic pages.
The difference is less about capacity than about scope. Webflow's CMS is the center of the product, and features like members, automation and email are left to other tools. Webflow shut down its Logic automation feature on June 27, 2025 and User Accounts on January 29, 2026, pointing customers to Zapier, Make, Outseta and Memberstack. Wix bundles bookings, events, a members area, forms and email marketing with the site.
SEO controls
Both platforms cover what a search engine needs: editable titles and descriptions, automatic sitemaps, canonical tags, 301 redirects, alt text and SSL. The differences are in the details.
| SEO control | Wix | Webflow |
|---|---|---|
| Sitemap | Automatic | Automatic, or supply a custom sitemap.xml |
| robots.txt | Editable in a Robots.txt Editor | Editable rules |
| Canonical tags | Automatic and customizable | Global base URL, plus per static page |
| Structured data | Preset on some page types; custom JSON-LD up to 7,000 characters | Per page, manual or AI-generated; needs a paid Site plan or paid Workspace |
| Redirects | Up to 5,000; CSV import of 500 at a time | Pattern redirects with capture groups; CSV import; no hard limit, though Webflow recommends 1,000 at most; needs a paid Site or Workspace plan |
| URL structure | Blog posts keep a prefix, which can be renamed but not removed | CMS items sit under their Collection's URL folder |
Both use a prefix for content types, so neither gives you a flat URL for every blog post. On a free Webflow Starter site, several SEO controls require a paid Workspace plan. Wix documents its redirect tools in detail, and we walk through them in how to set up 301 redirects on Wix.
Hosting and performance
Hosting is included with both. Wix says its sites run on AWS, Google Cloud, Fastly and its own servers, with more than 200 CDN nodes. Webflow says its sites are stored and delivered by Cloudflare, on AWS infrastructure.
The billing model differs. Wix paid plans have unlimited bandwidth. Webflow meters it: 10 GB on Basic and 50 GB on Premium, with add-ons starting at 50 GB more for $20 per month billed annually. For a media-heavy or high-traffic site, estimate your usage before choosing a Webflow plan.
Ecommerce
Wix includes its store in the regular plans from Core up, with a catalog of up to 50,000 products and features such as abandoned cart recovery. Wix Payments in the US charges 2.9% + $0.30 for credit and debit cards other than American Express.
Webflow sells separate Ecommerce site plans: Standard at $29, Plus at $74 and Advanced at $212 per month billed yearly. The item limits, which count products, variants and categories together, are 500, 5,000 and 15,000. Standard adds a 2% Webflow transaction fee on top of processor fees. Plus and Advanced don't. Payments run through Stripe and PayPal.
Wix includes more selling features in its standard plans and has the higher catalog ceiling. Webflow Ecommerce suits a smaller catalog where the design of the storefront is the priority.
Leaving later
Webflow's code export is a real difference. On a paid Workspace plan you can download the site's HTML, CSS, JavaScript and assets and host them anywhere. The export doesn't include CMS content, ecommerce, site search or working native forms, so a CMS-driven site still needs rebuilding elsewhere.
Wix has no export. Wix states a site "needs to be hosted and operated on Wix's servers," and blog posts can't be exported, though CMS collections and products export to CSV.
Moving between the two is manual either way. Webflow's own guide says: "Migrating from Wix to Webflow is a rebuild, not a transfer." Our Wix to Webflow migration guide covers the process.
Choose Wix if, choose Webflow if
Choose Wix if:
- You or your staff will build and update the site without design training.
- You need bookings, a store, a members area or email marketing built in.
- You want one bill per site with collaborator seats included.
- You expect heavy traffic or large media and don't want metered bandwidth.
Choose Webflow if:
- A designer or developer will build the site and wants CSS-level control.
- The site is content-led, with a structured CMS and few built-in business tools needed.
- Being able to export the front-end code matters to you.
- You're comfortable connecting third-party tools for members, email and automation.
Conclusion
Wix and Webflow overlap less than their marketing suggests. Wix is the faster route to a working business site with selling, booking and marketing tools in one place. Webflow is a design and CMS tool that rewards skill and keeps your front-end code portable. Decide who will maintain the site, list the built-in features you need, then price both layers of Webflow against a single Wix plan. Frequently asked questions
Is Webflow cheaper than Wix?
For a single simple site, Webflow Basic at $15 per month billed yearly is below Wix Light at $17, as of October 2026. Costs rise on Webflow when you add a CMS (Premium, $25), a paid Workspace, extra seats or bandwidth. Compare the full setup you need, not the entry price.
What happened to Webflow's CMS and Business plans?
Webflow stopped selling them on May 13, 2026 and replaced them with one Premium plan at $25 per month billed yearly or $39 month-to-month. Existing sites began moving from June 29, 2026, with a later date of November 16, 2026 for some Freelancer, Agency and legacy accounts.
Is Webflow harder to learn than Wix?
For most non-designers, yes. Webflow's layout tools follow CSS concepts, and Webflow recommends its Webflow 101 course before using a template. Wix's standard editors are designed for people with no web background.
Can I export my site from Wix or Webflow?
From Webflow, partly: paid Workspace plans can export HTML, CSS, JavaScript and assets, but not CMS content or ecommerce. From Wix, no: a Wix site has to run on Wix's servers, though some data exports to CSV.
