Local SEO on Wix: Google Business Profile, Location Pages and Reviews

By: Irina Shvaya | September 22, 2026

If you serve customers in a place, local search is usually where your next customers are, and it responds faster than almost anything else you can do. Most of the work happens off your Wix site — which is exactly why it gets neglected.

Google Business Profile comes first

For a local business the profile often outperforms the website for visibility, and it is free. Claim it, then actually fill it in: correct category (the primary category matters more than the extras), service area, hours including holiday hours, services, and photographs that are yours rather than stock.

Then keep it alive. Profiles that get posts, new photos and answered questions behave better than profiles set up once and abandoned.

Make your NAP boringly consistent

Name, address and phone should be character-for-character identical on your Wix site, your Google Business Profile, and every directory listing. "Suite 4" in one place and "Ste. 4" in another is the kind of small inconsistency that muddies an entity. Fix your own site first — footer, contact page, and schema — then the profiles.

Build location pages that deserve to exist

If you serve several towns, a page per town can work. It only works when each page says something specific: the work you have done there, the areas covered, local considerations, directions, staff who cover it. Ten pages that differ only by swapped town names are a recognisable pattern and they do not rank.

Be honest about the limit, too: pages for places you cannot actually serve within a reasonable drive will not convert even if they rank.

Add LocalBusiness schema

Mark up the business details on your Wix site so machines read the same facts your customers do — and make sure they match the profile exactly. Schema markup on Wix covers how to add it per page.

Make reviews a routine, not a campaign

Review volume, recency and responses all matter, and the only sustainable way to get them is to ask every satisfied customer, every time, with a link that takes two taps. Respond to all of them, including the critical ones, in a way a future customer reading the exchange would find reasonable. Never buy reviews; the pattern is detectable and the penalty is worse than the deficit.

Then the on-site work

With the profile and citations in order, on-site local signals do the rest: the town in your titles where it fits naturally, a real embedded map, service-area copy that names places, and internal links from your service pages to the relevant location pages. Our Wix SEO checklist covers the technical layer underneath it.

Local is the fastest-moving part of the work for most Wix businesses, which is why it is where our Wix website services usually start. Our local SEO services page covers the same work platform-agnostically.
